Hello,

I was just wondering if there are people who play this profession who consistently do not use doctor buffs. I know the ham costs for specials are high with this profession. I currently play a rifleman, and with two shots of brandy, I can hunt and play the way I want. I do not try to solo high end content, but can hold my own in PVE. This question is in regards to PVE, as I do not participate much in PVP. Thanks for any feedback.

Yes, but only 8 minutes at a time.

Breath of heaven is great, throw in a vercupti and you mighjt as well be buffed. I've even managed to kill buffed people in PvP using breath of heaven, this requires a bit of luck though.

Easy, I play with no buffs and no armor all the time solo. But I also have ranger so as long as I have enough traps to snare with I can run around the creature all day. With NPCs I just try and pick them off one at a time, perferably starting with the ones who wander a bit away from the others first, Same goes for carbine with out traps.

Nope, Once I tried killing a bol lair w/o buffs. It was fun..... for the bols. I took all the foods I should, but it still wasn't enough to make up for my 400 health and 400 action. Most of my guns are stocked and stocked to infinity so HAM costs are incredible w/o buffs.

Without buffs.....you are committing "Carbicide" one might say. If you go without buffs you have to improvise alot.

Find a nice snubnose dh17 and I think you can. I love it's low ham and it makes it a little easier to go unbuffed. Though it is AP0

BE scrimpi is great for this class....

+400 quickness/Stamina for 40 minutes and only 33 stomach filling....

I normally take 2 (+800/800) and then one of the Str ones (forget the exact name)..Plus 2 vas brandies and wala....

+400 Str/Con....+800 quickness/stamina....+800 mind/focus/will power.

Without armor, this is more then enough the counter even the highest carbine cost ...And, because it all lasts 40 minutes, I can keep this level of buffness for as long as I have food.

Ahrisa is for non carbineers you would be suprised how many great stat buffing foods are out there, it seems like only the mind ones get noticed (because doc buffs are so easy to come by)....

But yah, with the right amount of money, this class is doable with no buffs....

As long as you keep an eye on your own HAM as well as the HAM of your opponent, you can do mid-range PvE (i.e. white cons and a few yellow cons) effectively. But, I would recommend getting some novice medic skills to compensate for the lack of insanely high HAM regeneration. Also, know every special inside and out. Refer to the Carbineer FAQ if you need any info on special reload times, damage multipliers, and state effects. I hope that this helps you somewhat.

I think this game would be alot more fun w/o buffs IMO. It would require some stat strat. Remember back in the days before everyoen was carbon-copy, 400 health, 400 action, 1100 mind (give or take for species).

I like to play this game without buffs myself (700/700/700 HAM). Perhaps after the combat revamp, the HAM system will change so that buffs are less important. *shrug*
