Thread: Opinion on the 'new' HAM system.

Really. If what i hear is true which is: Instead of 'dealing' damage to yourself, you decrease your max pool (and the amount decreased becomes your new 'ham cost') and you regen 10x faster or something like that.

This ladies, is of course complete **edit**. Saying this almost makes me think we will in the future WOUND ourselves instead of DAMAGE ourselves, however recover from these wounds alot faster. This is totally a wrong move imo, as medics and doctors cannot heal you after spamming i.e burst shot.

I say just lower our ham costs alot and keep the damage, OR...

Simply increase the strength, focus and quickness pools. These then become a 2nd type of ham, and damage can be dealt to this pool ONLY by using specials. This way HAM is there for what it really was meant to be I think: The bars that tell you WHN YOU WILL DIE lol. But at least this way nobody gets wounded or hurt, and you can't heal your specials (allowing you to spam, heal, spam heal etc.)

/I think that this is a much better system

From what I have heard you are correct in your assessment. I like the analogy to "wounds" that "heal".

IMO, the Devs are trying to make it sound like they are helping us, but in reality they are NERFING spamming specials. No food, no buff, no stims will allow the spamming of specials. While in a conceptual view this might be a good thing, but in practice with the horrible condition of the Carbineer profession, this is suicide.

I might as well throw out all my millions of credits worth of Krayt Carbines and use a CDEF.

You won't know if it will suck until you've played it. It WILL be a fix to high ham costs across all classes. My alternate character is leveling doctor by means of me tumbling and I wont be able to do that when this goes in place so I hope I can get all my medical xp soon.

The attic was less to us from the cellar the bones like the attic let them have it let them stay in the attic. When they sometimes come down the stairs at night and stand perplexed behind the door and headboard of the bed brushing that chalky skull with chalky fingers with sounds like the dry rattling of a shutter. Thats what I sit up in the dark to say.

Well it was very easy to see what is coming when the Devs said they wanted combat to be more tactical. This means not as much spamming of specials, which hurts us all.

I would bet lunch that all my carbines fire wet noodles using the normal attack

The amount of work to redo the combat system, fix professions, and create/update weapons will make previous publishes look PERFECT.

I'm assuming that Strength/Quickness/Focus will still determine how much your HAM goes down with the new system? If not, then those stats just became worthless. Assuming they still affect how much HAM you use, having those three stats buffed up will still allow you to getto the point of having no HAM cost with specials.

I am expecting a completely new use of substats for specials so don't count on buffing them to reduce the cost.

In any case, we're not going to know until they get the January (more like February) publish on TC and TH posts the notes.

In the short time this was on TC (before it's current revamping devs say it's undergoing), it really wasn't as bad as you think it would be. As a Brawler, I had no problem using constant special attacks whether it be fists, polearm, or sword. Lost HAM was regained almost instantly... this helped the high cost of polearm specials very much. When this system comes back into testing, ya might want to try it out before disliking it. This new HAM system combined with the upcoming fix to Carbineer costs will really help you guys in the end.

i first hated the idea when i heard about it. since i'm a CM as well as carbineer, i liked the idea of being able to heal my damage from using specials. however...

when it was on TC i tried it out by spamming specials. it lowered my ham, but since the more "damage" there is the faster it regenerates,my actionmod hovers around -300. so i actually liked the new system and was gonna try out some ubese while hunting... as soon as i bought the armor they took the system out

try it out first

And we will know then?

Its not happening in January now and I bet it will be March to hit Live and April to get the bugs worked out.

I have heard all these reports before of what was on TC. But I go back to the Devs saying basically they want "tactical" combat. This translates to me that we won't be spamming specials.

And remember it was taken off TC because it was messed up and not ready.

We will adapt and I think changes need to be done, but don't believe what you saw taken away on TC. Don't be fooled, they ARE nerfing spamming of specials.

i tried it out *myself* and i liked it... i didn't hear a report on TC or such, i probably wrote some of them myself. all i'm saying is that you should at least *try* it before saying that it's a nerf. the system isn't even put back onto TC yet... relax, let them improve it, then if it really suck go ahead and complain.
