Thread: Why is everyone calling soon to be FOTM?

I dont understand why everyone is saying carbines will be so uebr with the next patch. I understand your specials are being fixed, but an AOE dizzy doesnt allow you to target the mind pool for 500 damage per second with heavy AP.

Is there something im missing? Im going carbineer at this moment and I dont want everyone to flock over to carbineer like what happened when I went rifleman

frankly I hope we aren't the Flav of the Month. I really want us to be the sleeper class that people wonder about then forget. That'd be awesome!

yesss.....would be perfectly happy if the flow of new carbineers after the patch didnt increase at all from it's current rate.....the patch would just guarantee that those who joined the profession would stay in the profession....

I think lots of people will flock to carb but when they realise they have to use 3 specials together in order to dominate pvp they'll get a headache, dust off their /headshot3 macros and return to rifleman.

I think that this puts us back to where we should be, in the middle between pistols and rifles. We are all very happy now ONLY because SOME of are specials are working on TC now. The only reason we will be FOTM is "wow, what happened to them? Let's see"

I agree also,

I have been carbineer from day one and I have been waiting for them to make the profession better. I do hope carbineer is the profession that goes overlooked on the battlefeild but is great.

Super Carbineer owns any opponent in an unaromred fight...

With these 80% + composite suits out there, we suck. Our armor piercing is weak, we have no stun damage weapon.... So we wont be FOTM in that aspect for a while until they give us a stun damage weapon or cap the insane resists of composite.

/agree

the AoE dizzy and KD will be a draw to flavour of the month carbineers but after they realize /headshot3 still owns us they will drop carbineer almost instantly.

What concerns me more is the dabblers, The "in-demand" skills are what? FAS2, FAA2, CS1, CS2, and those all come in one tree, *uggh*ir BH pwnz0r looking4 l33t c4rb skilz .... /addignore

I wish it were that simple dude, but if we want to remain the overlooked proffession our dreams of equality may have to go unfufilled. I would be quite happy remaining just underpowered enough to keep the power gamers and nerf herders away. While still giving us a slight chance in PvP. Or maybe if SOE keeps making stupid over powered templates we can be equal to other classes

No way Carbineers will be flavors of the month.

The dizzy is fixed but they did not increase the rate at which it is applied to targets. It happens just as often as it does now (yes it happens now) it just has a duration of zero now. All they did is add duration. For example, there is no way you could macro: /fullautosingle2; /chargeshot1 and expect to get a dizzy/KD even 50% of the time. You will need to fire FAS2 1-4 and maybe more times to get dizzy applied.

The same holds true for the area series. You are not going to open up on a group of 20 with fullautoarea2 then follow that up with actionshot2 and expect to have the entire group dizzed and then fall. Maybe a handful but enough will be standing that you won't be alive much longer...

Rifleman and defense stacked templates will continue to rule the day.

The reason Carbineers won't be flavor of the month (other then what Nova said) is because they (we?) won't be able to do jack in small combat. Like if you were in Theed, and two Rebels were overt just walking around, and then you went overt and tried to kill them, you'd be killed hard (if they are good ). We still won't be able to do one on ones and stuff. Where we WILL come in handy is mass PvP. If none of you have ever been in a 40 person raid on a large Faction city with two faction bases and 20 PCs defending it, then you should, it's FUN. And that's where carbineers will come in handy and have their fun. When there are base raids and defenses with 20+ people.

No one is going to flock to carbineer, guarenteed.

The reasons why you will become one of the FOTM's. Oder of impact on your FOTM status:

1) Publish 8 = Rifleman's speed is capped to 3 seconds, Advanced Strafe's damage is reduced, and rifleman's defence is reduced(Good Job nerfherders)

2) The ability to spam any special Once per 2 seconds (with Publish 8) when BH 0-4-0-0 is added, allows you to spam your AOE dizzy, just wait until it sticks and then KD. What 2 or 3 Dizzy shots max for it to stick?

3) Defence stacking is capped

4) Riflemen aint going to become pistoleers when we are nerfed to hell they are our natural enemies

-The other FOTM will be the good ol Master Pistoleer/BH0-0-4-0 combo, once pistoleers learn they can gorax the tangle, on top of that geo pistol the devs gave em.

Disregard the previous message. That is 100% speculation.

The Devs have said ZERO about the combat revamp so far.

Please stop spreading false information.
