Thread: Thanks Fellow Carbineers

Being a Fencer/Carbineer myself, I couldn't agree with you more.

I actually force myself to read the Fencer forums to keep up with the latest tidbits.. but even so, nothing compares to the information that one can find on these forums.

We're lucky to have math-whizes, I suppose. Be it speedcapping your Crippleshot or mitigating your Laser Carbine, I'd say that 90% of the posts here are clear, concise, (somewhat redundant but hey, forum searching has always been a mystery to many) and downright useful.

I always enjoy reading these forums - so fine, there's not as much "drama" as the others, but I can tune into the Starsider forums for that. It's interesting to see how people make the most out the'middle-classed support profession' that is Carbineer, and that I have come to love.

So yeah.. thanks everyone.

Yeah, I don't go there much either. Fencer/carbineer as well. Although, I'm a carbineer before fencer, to be honest.

But there aren't nearly as many Carbineers as fencers. The Carbineer profession probably attracts a certain "crowd", I think. If you play a Carbineer, you're either hologrinding, or you WANT to play a Carbineer.

I surf about 6 profession forums fairly regularly and this is by far the best one. We have IMO the best corespondent in Nova, and a multitude of players who are helpful and knowledgable. There is almost no immaturity on this board and very little whinning in comparison to most. There are times when players have opposing opinions but it seems like 90% of the time what follows is healthy debate and not the name calling or bickering that is so prevelant on other boards.I agree this is likley because most people who play Carbineer really want to be one. I am proud to be a Carbineer in large part because of the community that exists here. Thank you all for making this boardand profession as much fun as it is.

So I take off from work early today, and figure I'll check out the SWG forums before I hop in the game for a bit. I say to myself "Hmm, it's been a while since I've read the fencer forum, I think I'll go see how things are, and maybe answer a few questions people may have asked." So I finish reading the Carbineer forum and pop on over to the Fencer forum. I'm somewhat surprised to see a post titled "New Correspondent" and read into it. Seems that the Fencer correspondent is stepping down, and some kids are fighting over who shall fill their roll. I was just about to the point of being ashamed to be a Fencer lol. I felt that disgusted with it. It's not the fact that the Fencer correspondent is stepping down that irks me, it's the general attitude of the thread, the immaturity of it. As I keep reading other threads, I find that they are not so distant in context. They reminded me why I haven't visited the Fencer forum in some time.

So... what's the point of this post? Simple...

I just wanted to take some time to say thank you to all of my fellow Carbineers. Thank you for intelligent, informative posts. Thank you for a great correspondent. Thank you for not overwhelming our forum with immaturity (sure, we have some, but not too much, just enough to keep the balance lol). Its posts like the ones on the Fencer forum that make me proud to be part of the Carbineer community. So to all of you, I say thank you.

Yes, this is a very good forum. Mature and not much crap that seem to fill other forums. I browse 3-4 profession boards regulary and this is one of the best definatly.

Nova is a very good corrspondent with good knowledge in the game.

Yea.. People get upset that they can't solo 4444 Guardians and how they suck, but actually BHs dont suck as much as they think, it just takes more thought than spamming eyeshot with geo pistol.

It is nice to see how appreciative we are of each other and the orders of magnitude of maturity level we are above almost every other Forum.

I stick my neck into most discussions/debates and hope I don't offend anybody I do get a bit irked by some noobs that don't bother to read the STICKY posts or the First Page, but hey they keep it interesting

I truly enjoy all the discussions and fun I have here with all of you

BTW, I have been taking a bit of a "break" but hope to get back to testing the whole ScatterShot/Armor/Food/Mitigation thing soon

Fencer's got a lot of kids because fencer is currently PvP FOTM with heavy defenses and a stun baton. Every FOTM has this problem.

If Carbineer becomes a FOTM then it'll happen here to. If the devs don't address scattershot's suspected bugged insane damage and if those FOTM fencers with scatter hit discover it then I'd feel sorry for this forum since Fencer/Carbineer would become a FOTM

Yeah, ok....whatever......

All it does is APPEAR to avoid Ranged Defense and Synthsteak (possibly only on the 2nd and 3rd hit, not the first)......and possibly Block, Dodge, Counterattack......that does NOT make for INSANE damage, sorry.....SWING and a MISS from the Nerf Bat

And MAYBE those effects are intended....once the first hit lands there SHOULD be ZERO defense to the 2nd and 3rd hits....IMO of course

I attribute the success of these boards to my stunningly good looks

Actually what it really boils down to is this. The majority of carbineers play the prof since the enjoy what it stands for and enjoy just being a carbineer. The class is not in anyway "over-powered" or "broken" it is there, and from what i can tell we are pretty close to functioning just how the devs want us. So i don't think so much that carbine players are any more civil or level headed, i just think other proffessions are swamped with "How do i pwn?" posts which really makes the community look bad. So here is to the class itself, may it bring many more hours of enjoyment to us all

Yeah as a Master carbineer with BH 2-4-0-0 (working on investigation 3) I check out the BH boards as well. The mean maturity level there is about 3 orders of magnitute lower than here. I've been a Carbineer from launch and I don't plan on changing any time soon.
