Thread: Looking for some opinions.

First of all, yes, I have read the FAQ. Many times over in fact. I've been MC/BH 0040 for quite some time, but I realized that I was not nearly using our profession to its full potential until I read the FAQ and stickies on these boards. I'd like to thank everyone for the time spent putting these helpfulguides together.

After realizing that our states are excellent (among other things),I decided to try my hand at PvP. My server (Sunrunner) is underpopulated (thankfully) compared to others which brings the FOTM percentage down an enormous amount. The info/opinions I am looking for have to do with the best PvP carbine of choice for PvP in my environment.

The lack of population means a lack(not total lack, though) of FOTMers. This also meansthat not everyone is running around in 90% composite. This means that many PvP enemies are not defense stackers, may not have ranged mitigation, and will usualy have only 60-80% composite armor at best. My question is that considering the facts mentioned above, in situations where I do not know the enemy's skills, would I be better off leaning towards the high damage output and armor piercing of the Laser Carbine, or the Mitgated strength of the Eilte and DXR6 carbines before realizing what defenses the enemy has? I'm not sure if this is a clear enough question, so if needed I can do my best to rephrase it, hehe.

P.S. Oh, on a side note, I dueled my FOTM friend (M Fencer, M Swordsman, TKA Defense) and won three duels in a row, four duels out of six in total using tips and strategies I picked up on these boards. My faith was completely restored in Carbineer at a time when I was considering dropping at least BH.

A very nice post indeed, congratulations

I would use a Laser Carbine in this situation, go with an Elite for the Mitigation people and DXR6 for the PSG/Mitigation people. Sounds like everything you have said is on the right track.

BTW, almost any Ranged prof can kite an all Melee template with ease....not really FOTM there.....but good job anyways

Hmm... I figured a little flattery right off the bat would avoid the old:

The answer to your question is: yes.

Carry a big nasty laser. If it is doing no damage, switch to a big nasty elite or DXR6.

Well, on Chilastra, the land of prevalent PSGs, I carry my DXR-6 equipped almost exclusivly. Although before they became really used, I used Laser Carbine. Since you're BH you can get Adv Stocked lasers which really help the minimum damage, and the AP2 makes the difference. Even against PSGs, the AP2 can punch through the usually low energy resist (Normally like 40% base with 25%ish energy special resist). Really though, the DPS difference between Lasers, DXR-6s,and Elite carbines are roughly close.

Therein liesoneof my problems, Nova. In my server, coming acrossmany big nasty (insert carbine(s) here)can be quite a pain. I think many consider tissues wasted on Carbines at this point, and it isn't too much fun to find your own, hehe. Another major problem and the reason I keep BH is the lack of Carbine SEAs around. I think I found a +22 Carbine Accuracy While Moving once, but it was on a vendor for 16 million...

Thanks to everyone for the input, by the way.

Quality Master Weaponsmiths have a fairly steady flow of krayt tissue. If you contact one in person and say you would like to buy a krayt tissue carbine, I'm sure you will be able to find some without too much difficulty. Just expect to pay for it, especially if you want good tissue...

One of these days I'll move on to krayt tissue guns, rather than buying just buying 10 regular carbines and trying for a 30%+ speed slice... one of these days...

Unless you have alot of money or luck to get ALOT of tissues, I think its wiser to just use the money to get alot more non-krayt guns. Odds are, unless the tissues are awesomly uber, you'll get a nice slice on the non-krayt, but not a great chance you'll get a high slice on just 1 or 2 krayt guns. Then again, I suppose the speed redux on krayt tissues makes a great difference for you non-BHs.. I dunno.

Exactly. I was more interested in the -.3 speed than the +70 damage...

Before I go looking for a krayt gun, I want to know what I am getting into. Assuming you want to keep HAM reasonably low (so no advanced stocks, etc), does krayt tissue significantly affect HAM costs or accuracy? I imagine it doesn't hurt the accuracy, but I'm afraid of ending up with one of those 60-75-65 HAM guns I can't reasonably use without being buffed...

5 stars to the original poster. All newcomers take note... THAT is how you post a question.

To answer your question, I'd go along with what has allready been said by the others... Definately get all 3, even if they are not all uber. Start with the elite if all you can do is get one good one, then the DXR6, then the laser. Just remember, you don't allways need Krayted weapons (especially due to the fact thet you're a BH and seem to play on a less advanced server). Just make due with what you have, and don't go as far to take fun out of the game to get uber weapons if you don't want to.

Thanks for the stars, Eisman

One quick thing. I'd like to rephrase the original question. In a situation where you have absolutely no idea what your enemy has and no time to figure it out, which gun is it safer to stick with throughout the fight?

Based on the responses, I didn't think what I intended to get accross came accross, hehe.

Another thing. Guns I use are normally high damage Laser Carbines with horrendous speed, but I cap them with BH. Taking the speed cap into the equation is another thing to consider for DPS in the situations I am curious about.

/think Maybe this is more involved than I originally thought...

Thanks again.

My all-purpose, "getter done" weapon in the elite. Though I'm starting to sway in the direction of the DXR6. With that said, your's is not only a question of a new carbiner, but also one of a long time master lol.

Eh, I dont like the elite carbine as a BH. I dont know how accurate my math was, putting an adv stock on both to help the min damage, the laser was almost exactly the same DPS against mitigation III, but against no mitigation the laser outshined the elite. If your really concerned about mitigation go with the dxr6. It has similar stats, cept a little slow but that doesn't matter to you since your BH. The acid damage will go through a PSG.
