Thread: What are the best pvp and pve carbines atm???
Pre-CU weapons the best one I've found is an E-11 MarkII..
Acrosss the board every pre-CU weapon I have(I have tons of every kind leftover from hologrind) is worse than weapons made after CU went live. Just something to keep in mind, especially if you are a TK wondering why your VK sucks so bad...

apart from the looted proton carbine which has pretty nice stats - i would say for pve and pvp the elite carbine is the way to go (cant believe its ok to say that now lol)
for pvp use some decent krayt tissues and get the experimentation put into the special attack cost then with whats left over put into dmg - thats a fine pvp carb there
for pve go for dps as i believe will allow u to use the /attack command to high ur target fast without any action cost problems
*my 2 bulgarian levs
i don't think SAC matters much in PvP, your dead in 3 shots so u'll never run out of action that fast

the proton carbine from Kashyyk isnt for carbiners though, go figure, master carbiner cant use certain carbines. GOD bless SOE
This person is a MBH, hence my answer
I got the Proton Carb today.
85 SAC is nice.
Energy & Cold Damage.
With a good speed Pup I am pushing 750 dps. With an ADK it will be my only weapon for life....

Yeah I found some Tactical Grips at -29.7% Speed and +39 Accuracy (it is listed as a + but when the PU is used it LOWERS Accuracy which will in turn lower damage) that take my Proton to 782 Modified DPS. The High Power Barrel is +29.7% Damage and +19.9% Speed and take it to 538 Modified DPS.
The regular Modified DPS for my current build is 550 DPS, so no reason to use the High Power Barrel IMO.....but the Tactical Grip is probably not as good as listed because of the 'soft cap' on Speed.....so I doubt the Proton is really going to do 750+DPS, BUT the Speed Buff from a Doc works quite well to get around the 'soft cap' from what I have FELT.....need to get hard numbers on all of this before calling any of it FACT ![]()

Thats interesting, so you are suggesting that "dps" is a potential figure rather than actual. I have noticed that there seems to be a damage cap depending on the level of mob you are fighting, even factoring level dferences, but I have not done any sensible research.
I need to get better pups now.... hehe

I am not suggesting, it is a fact on the Weapon Examine Window being 'estimated'.....I just don't have any hard numbers to say X% for Y CL difference or exactly where the 'soft cap' or 'cooldown timer cap' is stopping the listed DPS on weapons yet but I will once Double XP Week ends.
People can say all they want about the proton and it's DPS, but I find that after over 50 tests on players and vs NPC. I conclude that DPS is not the end all.
My elite has a top damage of about 1020.
My proton has a top damage of about 880??
Although the proton has a much higher DPS from the speed, the elite consistantly out damages it.
My tests were done it two ways,
1) make legshot the auto attack and see how long it takes to deal 3K damage. (Elite big winner here)
2) Keep pounding (legsot) (critical shot)(torsoshot) so there is always a cue. (IE max fire rate of weapon not special)
Both ways, the elite would outdamage the proton even though the DPS was listed as almost 80 points lower.
My templete for my main is
Master Bounty Hunter
Master Carbineer
Novice Bio-Engineer (Somebody has override the darn base hehe)
