Ok, I got my first berserker rifle last night, so I went to try it on a womp rat

This rifle is 539 max damage, AP0, heat damage

The target womp rat is AR0, vulnerable to stun

I use the default attack, and I hit for 732 points of damage.

can someone explain that?

Vulnerable to Stun, but what about the other resists? Not that it would make much sense to me whatever the answer...maybe one of our more mathematically inclined members can give ya an explanation. Then again, I wouldn't really worry about it too much myself- it's just a womp rat

If I remember right there is a natural 1.5x multiplier to all shots. Don't ask why but it has been proven before, hopefully someone else can come along and correct me or verify me and my statement.

Oops! Yes, I remember reading that now...it's somewhere in that gargantuan FAQ if I recall...

Yes, for some reason all shots get a 1.5x damage multiplier. According to the melee boards, they get an 1.86x modifier.

Thus, 732 / 1.5 = 488, which is well within your rifle's max damage. Without knowing the heat resists for that creature, it is impossible to determine what the actual hit was. But 488 is 90.5% of the max damage of the rifle, so that means you could get that hit even if the target has hit resists resists up to 9.5%.

That is, the maximum default hit you can get with that rifle (i.e., against a heat vulnerable target) is 539 * 1.5 = 809. With resists of 9%, that hit would drop to: 809 * (1 - .09) = 809 * .91 = 736.

So the unless the target's resists are higher than 9.5%, this hit is well within the damage range of your rifle.

so then with my 1089 damage laser rifle against a target that is AR0 and vulnerable to energy, with strafe shot 2, it would be like this?

1089 x 5 x 1.25 x 1.25 x 1.5

Not quite Annoka, For some reason AP only gets a bonus against armored opponents and never against a vulnerability. Your laser rifle would do this against an ar0 vulnerable to energy.

1089 x 5 x 1.5

And where did you pick up that laser rifle you punk? Thats a wookie brawler killer if I ever saw one .

Yeah... its a real biitch. Shooting something that is vulnerable to you is worse than shooting something with light resists to you! I never have understood that one! So if you are facing a meanie with AP0 and Vulnerabilty to Energy, but 10% resist to Acid, pull out your DXR-6B and have at it.

Yes I have read the stickes but why is Burstshot (6x) so much more damaging than FAS2 (5.5x)? It seems like it should be a BIT more damaging but its doing waaaay more for me. Not that I am complaining.
