Thread: Am I the only person that LOVES carbineer?
All I see is stupid posts about how we are "broken". Hell no, we aren't broken. Oh no, FAS2 doesn't dizzy! And ChargeShot2 does AOE Knockdown (which is incredibly useless if you ask me)! Oh no! Not that!
If you ask me, Carbineer is fine. And I love being one.
pre-patch, i agree with you
post-patch, i'm looking at dropping our entire profession, since nearly every other combat profession is capable of the same, with various perks.
pistoleer + ranged weapon support 4 (suppresion fire). they get a kd and a pc, target mostly health, take less damage from melee, and can dish out some nice damage.
rifleman + ranged weapon support 4 (suppresion fire). they get a pc (no kd that i'm aware of...one drawback), can dish out some major damage, and does heavy damage to mind pool. really nice in pvp.
commando (has ranged weapon support 4, so gets a pc). they dish out MASSIVE damage with the new changes, take lots from melee...but melee'rs should be dead before then. target random pool, as near as i can tell, but so do carbineers, so doesn't seem like much of a loss. no kd that i'm aware of, whcih is a drawback, but dealing the higher damage should make up for it.
bh gets a pc from ranged weapon support 4 and a kd from the bounty carbine line. eye shot is wickedly evil. speed/accuracy bonuses are higher than carbineer prof (NOT calling nerf on bh, just pointing out a solid fact) so with the new patch no reason to not go bh save they allow less 'wiggle room' with extra skill points. able to dish out massive damage from their specials and increased rate of fire.
smuggler + ranged weapon support 4 (suppression fire) get a pc plus kd. also get panic shot, which is an approximate 10 seconds of not allowing the enemy to attack. they suffer from the nerf as well, but not to the same extent as carbineers.
in short....as it stands now, there is little to no reason to choose carbineer over any other profession. i am reluctant to surrender the 2.5 million carbine exp, plus combat exp i have spent in this profession...and yet if changes aren't made soon, i will. i do NOT want to be relegated to a zoo-master. i do NOT like seeing 'death-lottery' or 'zergling rush' or 'animals-on-parade' style of groups. tonight, i have had the least fun playing since the very first day, when i was unable to stay connected for more than 10 minutes at a time. at the very least, carbineer is soon to go.

I love the Carbineers.
They never complain about BH, unlike Pistoleers.

Being the one and only Master Carbineer on Valcyn, I have to represent and say that while i have some opinions on fixing Carbineer, I won't give it up... I like having a powered/sliced Laser Carbine that's 108-508... I know Pistoleers can't compete with our dmg even though it practically kills you too.
My only opinions about it is to fix ChargeShot2, and possibly lower HAM costs that's all

Heh, here on bloodfin, I have yet to see a Laser that powerful.
Im happy enough with carbineer to stay with it for now, but my top 3 things that I think need to be fixed are:
1. Fix the specials
2. Up the dmg on all carbines (pistols often have the same/higher dmg at half the spd)
3. Make the 'elite' carbine truly elite
I love being a carbineer, but we are definitely lacking in power, post-patch. Ultimately though, I would rather stay weak then to be powerful at one point and then get nerfed! Not that that has worked for me so far, lol! The way I see it, from here we can only go up. I can't imagine those nerf-happy devs finding anything else to do to us at this point.

Yeah I love being a carbineer too, or well the carbines are definately my choice of weapon and I can't really find any other combinations with my doc skills that I like.
However I also think its a bit too soon to say if I love the class or not because:
Is legshot 3 working as intended? If so what's the difference between that and legshot 2 (faster/higher bleed or?)
Our fullauto area specials are they working as intended? Right now I only have fullauto area 1, and when I shoot at a bunch of mobs I hit 1 and aggro the rest. A big part of the reason why I chose carbineer in the first place was because of those AoE attacks - first time I used that special I certainly didn't love it.
Also I think the last patch made some nasty changes for the carbineer, I may be way off here but I always thought of the carbineer as someone that moves around at mid range (just look at the way the weapon is held) and fires at the enemy. Anyways if the mob is moving I will most likely miss (be it a green, blue, white, yellow or red mob).
What is therole of the carbineer? The pistoleer is the point blank weapon user, the rifleman is the long range sniper, are we just inbetween doing a halfbeep'ed job at both point blank and long range? As it is now I thinkwe are, because90% of the fight is either at point blank or at ideal range (sniper range for laser carb), there is no inbetween other than the 10%where I actually hit the running mob/playerrunning towards me.
I may (once again) be mistaken but don't we take increased damage from melee?why is this? is it because riflemen takes a high penaly to melee the pistoleer takes none - and we are inbetween so we get a melee penalty inbetween also?
But somehow I feel that we need to have a clearer role in all this, the role of the carbineer is a bitof a blur other than hitting the action pool what makes us different from thepistoleer/rifleman. If you look at the paper, just looking at the mods we get I'd say we are the ones thatcan hit while we move, canattack multiple players/mobs at once.
What I personally don't like about the carbineer as it is now, is that I sometimes feel like a 1 hit wonder, either I kill the mob in the first shot (or at leastbefore it discovers where I am) or its gonna be one tuff fight. And imho that is leaning too much over to the rfileman.
And I agree on the HAM costs, this may be because of the lack of materials for the carbines or weaponsmiths not doing enough to lower HAM costs. In my case I don't have any specials that use under 100 action (44 action on my laser carb - can't remember others) personally I don't see how I would get anything done as a carbineer without having medic skills (doc preferred) or at least the ability to fully heal myself every 5 secs or so.
heh I also wonder why the AR2 carbine wasn't put in the novice carbineer box, I mean the rifleman get their T21 there, pistoleers get their DX2 there and if I'm not mistaken that is the high AR weapon of each class (ok think pistoleers have another AR1 lower in the tree).
But I'm rambling - it's late. But hopefully they'll fix - or at least we'll soon know how the devs view the carbineer (or Carbinier or carabineer or whatever) but seeing as the commando's where fixed I guess we will too - if nothing else then maybesome of you master carbineer can shed some light on the carbineer for me.

Legshot 3 is broke, no other explination can explain the similarities of that and legshot 2
Fullauto line is broke, not only does it only damage one mob for the area effect but the special debuffs do not work on it either. Although it does stun occasionally.
We now do miss more often, but I think all professions got hit with this one but not sure.
We are a mid ranged class, makes things hard but not impossible.
Good question on the Melee penalty, I need to test this out.
Our role should be hitting and moving, but I dont think the bonus we get while moving is worth anything. They need to make this bonus higher or fix it cause its broke.
One hit wonder? Are you fighting Gnorts?
With the carbineer profession the way it is not, you are right, you need to have medical skills if you plan on using specials.
Laser carbine is our Armor Piercing weapon. Too bad it sucks.
