Thread: Carbines not popular?

I've been away from the game for over a year, and trying to get used to all the changes (and the ghost towns!).

Are carbines not very popular? What little is on the bazaar, there's tons of pistols, lots of rifles, and only a few carbines. What gives?

It hasn't been as popular as the bigger damage Rifles or the quicker/faster pistols. Most now seem to go with the Elite melee classes because under the current system, they are truly far superior. But I believe they are addressing that with the CU.

I believe with the balancing of the new system, Carbines will play a bigger role. I'm going to give carbines a shot for a while anyway.

Carbines will be *THE* role post CU.

While I like the optimism, this is really a joke.....Rifleman has the DPS and Pistoleer the States, and that doesn't even consider the all the advantages of BH and Commando.

Once Suppression Fire gets fixed, which it has NEVER worked in the CU, we will be much stronger and closer to equals to the other profs.

To me, though, carbines falls in between the two. I dabble a little in pistols to get the stopping shot / intimdate, and I have the best of both worlds.

Full crowd control, plus a reasonable high DPS. The proton carbine from MBH also doesn't go to waste.

I expect a lot of new BH's when the CU is live, and from thatmore carbine interest.

My chief complaint with carbines has always be accidentally murdering myself by using too many specials too quickly. I say murdering myself because even if a creature kills me, it is my fault if I burnt all my HAM too quickly. After I calmed down and learned what to use and when, I loved them.

Full Crowd Control.....I hate to sound like an ass, but that is freakin' crazy......we don't have but ONE working Cone Specials and all that does is damage, no States or Posture.....NOTHING

And I played with Carbineer without BH and it SUCKS.....MBH is almost a default prof req now before thinking about picking up anything else ranged. Although Master Carbineer/Master Rifleman with dabbling in Pistoleer wasn't too bad either.

Pistoleer is only for dabbling, but Rifleman trumps EVERYTHING in Carbineer so there isn't even any use to dabble in Carbineer like there is in Pistoleer......in a fit of rage I said Carbineer should just be deleted, because it feels like that is just what is happening.....

Of course the feeling could change quick if they ever fixed Suppression Fire to do a Cone SNARE or Cone ROOT

Iv attained rank of Master Carbineer recently, and from what I read here... IM SCARED. Why do we have to suffer under the heavy feet of CU?? Please calm my nerves with one good reason of being carbineer after CU. Please! (else Ill become farmer, seems itll be more usefull in combat than Carbineers after CU).

I didn't get a chance to play with Carbineer in Test Center for CU. What does Charge Shot do? Does it not apply a dizzy state?

ChargeShot never applied a Dizzy

It applies a single target KD.

I will just be happy if carbineer gets any def vs. dizzy. Right now as Mastercarbineer and 3444 in BH I can't take down a jedi once they have the dizzy KD attack even on thakillio and corellian brandy .... I get dizzied... then KD, then killed. So any def. vs. dizzy will help me out exponentially. If not Im dumping carbines and getting waht ever the FOTM is and using that on the jedi.

Well, I can't say where all the negativity comes from, but as it is and NOT in the CU, my Laser 129-615 2.5 speed can chew through most buffed HAMs in a matter of seconds after a KD and some Crippling Shots. I have two master level Elite Carbines specifically for the CU so I think that their damage dealing ability is going to be brought down, the only thing that hurts carbs atm and needs to be fixed is, as said above, their defense. If they could stand in a fight against some of that melee kd crap for just a few more prolonged seconds, I think we'd see that they are the prevalent prof in most all around situations.
