Thread: Carbineer Issues Designer responses
Big thanks toSOJ for compiling these issues. Here are the designers’ responses to the top 5 issues (option 6th is the Correspondent’s pet issue). We have 32 professions to get through so we apologize for the brevity of the answers.

1) Special Moves – LegShot3, BurstShot2, Crippling Shot, SupressionFire 2 are not working properly and/or not performing as well as their predecessors.
We’ll investigate this and check back with you.
2) Carbine HAM issues – Carbines have too high of a HAM cost and do not compare to pistol or rifle. This also applies to carbines that do not require stocks.
We’ll investigate the HAM costs of carbines.
3) Carbine Defense – Defense modifications for carabineers do not match those of the pistoleer or rifleman. Counterattack does not work well and should be examined for effectiveness.
We’ve made some changes, and we’ll re-examine once they are implemented.
4) Variety – The ineffectiveness of some weapons (Elite carbine and DXR6) leaves little room for variety.
We’ll look into this. But how is it less effective?
5) Carbineer – Consistent spelling of the profession “Carbineer.”
We will do this in a future update. We are also changing this forum title to reflect your desire. (FYI Carabineer is correct, but Carbineer is an acceptable alt that you all seem to prefer) ![]()
6) Defense – Carabineer needs better defenses. It loses against Bounty Hunter and Pistoleer when using carbines.
We’ll also re-examine this looking for balance.

Thanks for the update.
It would be nice if these sorts of things werefixed before nerfs were done.From what I've heard chargeshot, a barely useful knockdown attack, will cost us close to 300 ham after the patch. Though I'll have to wait until tomorrow to confirm this.
While im glad this is being looked at, I hope we have something more substantial to read over concerning our concerns soon.
This have given me a bright ray of hope in the darkness! Well apart from fixing the HAM costs and the special moves I don't see whats so bad about Carbineer, I think they're doing pretty well for themselves, so thanks for checking in with those issues, hope they get fixed whenever you have the time!

I know I'll probably get flamed for this, but one of the things I really liked is that they are finally going for a consistant name for our profession!It's also great that they choseCarbineer, IMHO the most logical choice of the three (carbineer is tocarbine as engineer is to engine). I could havelived with Carabineer, but not Caribiner.
Wow, thanks Q! I was beginning to think you guys didn't care much about us poor carbineers, hehe.
As to #4,my mainbeef is that the Elite is anything but. There are one or two things about the Elite that stand out - high min damage, lower range penalties than most carbines - but these strengths are not worth the lackluster performance in other areas. Basically, what is so elite about the Elite Carbine?
I believe that the issues many people have about the DXR6 involve a possible crafting bug that has been mentioned with many weapons, not just carbines. Something about multiple power handlers(?) not giving proper benefits when crafting the weapon. I don't know the exact details, but I am sure it has been brought up many times on the Weaponsmith forums.
Q-3PO man you better get a good bounty hunter that has investigation 4, because you have LOTS of investigation to do! ![]()
Actually I think he needs BH carbine 4 for the investigator title. ![]()

I sure hope they read my second report as it provides examples to these questions and other details.

Investigate? We've already done the leg work for you.What? You don't believe us? Doesn't anyone there play the game? Isn't there a way to mathmatically calculate these values? I SUCK at math and I can comprehend one value being greater than the other or not...

Again, it sounds like they had no clue this was going on and that scares me.

This is an example of something they did realize apparently, so they made some changes...
But how did they discover the problem with the defense? They must have been playing the game. So if in fact they are playing the game, how did they not realize points 1) and 2) were also in need of repair?
Basically I am wondering how they managed to catch this problem and not the previous two...

Sounds good to me over all and I'm uber refreshed to get some feedback. I'm looking forward to the game in general getting some balance, and for my Carbine to stop doing more damage to me than my enemies do.
It's just scary how they seem so out of touch with the in game issues, so I'm glad they implemented this correspondant program.
