I decided to get my WS alt to make a nice carbine that was worthy of an ADK . After searching all my storage facilities i found some krayt tissues and after a lot of messing around finally made this elite carbine.

Elite Carbine

Speed 2.21
Damage 468-1002
Accuracy bonus 9
SAC 87
Base dps 333.31

I am a master carbineer / master doctor

the modified stats for the carbine are

speed 1.52
Modified DPS 483.67

Would you imortalise this weapon with an ADK or should I try and get something better ?

I wouldn't ADK it. It has a nice SAC, but the speed is a little meh. My Elite Carb has a much higher SAC (120ish) but a 1.1 modified speed (something like that.)

What went into the gun, and how much did you pay for it?

I like it alot. It would be my best carbine. You can use it for awhile though until you decide if you want to adk it or not.

I wouldn't get it sliced before the smuggler changes, you could get a -3% or a +0% slice...

It is bad enough that DPS is not a definative indicator of damage but it gets completely stupid when people start posting the "modified DPS" rather than the "Base DPS"

By all you know, that carbine the original poster has may give you a better DPS than yours in your hands. Tell us the Base DPS for goodness sake !!!!

To illustrate the point, my carbine has a Base DPS of 327 (less than the orginal poster) but a Modified DPS of 556 in my hands (better than the original posters).

I dont even think Base DPS is a good comparative indicator. What I look for is a high damage and low SAC, with speed as a distant 3rd.

Agreed as I said but if you going to quote it at all , at least quote the base.

Its a nice carbine. Iwouldavoid destroying it .

My personal opinion (and you will probably find another 100 experienced players echoing this), because it is a reasonable SAC even tho the speed isnt great, itis a well balanced weapon.

Having something high speed and a really high SAC will guaranty you will run out of Action in very short time.

Speed base DPS is really REALLY cheap. I can make 310DPS pistol for instance without any special components.

But speed is useless for many reasons. So yeah youve got a nice enough weapon.

Like one of the earlier posters said, think about ADK it when damage gets bad.

Remember tho, even after you ADKed, destroying the weapon will release the ADK. So if the weapon gets tired, you got nothing too loose.

Base dps is the esimated damage done with an auto attack. Contrarry to what most people belive, it is the actual damage that counts. Fellow guild mates and I have done multipul tests to confirm our hyotheses.

DPS was introduced for the sole purpose of making weapon comparison easier. It takes into account speed, damage, and any other bonuses included on the weapon. The Base DPS is therefore the best weapon attribute to look at because itis blind to skill level andlooks only at the WEAPON

I love the people that post and say "oh well your weapon with base DPS 325 sucks because mine has one of 540! I am teh roXXorz!!!" People who post modified DPS and act like Star Wars gods should be beaten with a giant fish

And that is a VERY nice elite, I would seriously consider ADKing it. Protons have a base DPS of around 330 sliced and a SAC comparable to your weapon. I'll personally be using my ADK kit on my Proton, but if you can't get a hold of one or you like the looks of the Elite better, I would definately preserve it.

Eh...I KIND of agree with you. But Base DPS is still incorrect, and still not an indicator of the best weapon for you.

Base DPS averages the min and max damage and divides by your speed. Well, that is essentially worthless, because we dont do a RANGE of damage inbetween the min and max like we used to. Now all damage numbers are completely static. Let me give you an example: Two weapons....same exact speed. One of them has a damage range of 300-900, and the other has a damage range of 400-900. If you take a shot at someone with either of these weapons, you will hit for EXACTLY the same damage, but the one with the higher min damage will have a higher listed DPS.

So I agree that you should NOT look at your Base DPS to determine the best weapon for you. I would look more at Max damage and SAC, as many others have posted. But hey, if some of you out there disagree that's fine . Im just posting my ideas on the subject.
