Thread: Pls read this (esp. Devs), all weapons should have their ups and downs right...

Well, where are pistol's downs


Have you ever checked how many different attacks you can do with pistols, and how much better pistols are than any other weapon:


1. The best thing about carbineer is of course knockdown, well did you know pistols can do knockdown after getting low-blow (Smuggler) i believe. Other guns may be able to use these Smuggler attacks, however, the pistol tree is the required tree for smuggler, and it also takes pistol xp for novice smuggler


2. The best thing about rifles is they can attack the mind pool, well did u know with eye shot (Bounty Hunter) pistols can do the same.


3. Of course everybody knows what weapon we start with.


4. Elite carbinesarent even close to as big a step up to other carbines as the DX2 is to other pistols.


5. The mods for pistoleer skills are huge compared to carbine (these dont count Marksman mods only the mods gained in the profession)

I've specifically heard Raph say (in a post on the TKA boards) never to compare your class to pistoleer because they are OVERPOWERED.


If the devs know they're overpowered, we can probably expect some nerfage soon. (I would honestly rather see BH's get nerfed into the ground, I DON'T CARE IF YOU "KILL SENTIENT BEINGS FOR A LIVING," SO DO I, EXCEPT I SPEND 4X THE EXP THAT YOU DO IN THE SAME GUN... woo now that that's out...)

Get set for dissapointment cause your not gonna get an answer.


This same exact thing has been pointed out many many times before.


BTW, speed and accuracy mods are nice, but there are other factors too.


Specialsand weapon selection is important too. We have several very cool abilities such as ranged AOE KD and posture change. We also have AR 1/2 weapons which pistoleers dont even have a single AR 1 gun unless they take BH also.


Im by no means defending pistoleer or saying they are fine. We need serious work to be fixed in pve and pvp(ham costs please!!!!) but im just trying to show the issue in a balanced light.

I agree with your assessment about modifiers not being the whole story, Sek. However, I think you're off base by citing AR as a major disadvantage for pistols -- they get the single most diverse selection of damage types, almost guaranteeing that they have the capability to negate any armor they come across. It's a far more even field there than it seems at first glance, provided the pistoleer keeps a good arsenal and knows his stuff.

pistols get energy (scout, cdef, dl44, etc.), heat(fwg5), acid(dx2), and stun(tangle).


carbines get energy(cdef, dh17, laser, 'elite', etc.), heat(ee3), and acid(dxr6).


rifles get energy(cdef, dlt20a, maybe others), cold(sg82), and kinetic(tusken..i think its kinetic.)that i know of. i think that they also get stun (jawa ion rifle), and the spraystick might be acid. no clue on these last two.


these are just the weapons allowed by marksman or the elite combat professions, not hybrids.

Can you tell me when did they put the AoE KD back on ChargeShot2 because I missed that in the patch update notes.....last I'd seen it was still on Pistoleer's Disarm2....8(

well im disturbed...



i demand a better elite carbine and fixes for all our specials, i think pistoleers will just get all their extra bonus stats nerfed as opposed to us getting ours buffed.

but WAIT, the number on my defense vs knockdown goes all the way up to 30, so that MUST BE GOOD


And i can type IN RED LETTERS. THEY HAVE TO PAY ATTENTION NOW AND NERF PISTOLEER/BH/SMUGGLER/CHARLIE SHEEN.

Think about fixing your own class, not making ours worse. Im so sick of this garbage, Our defense mods dont work. And the Dx2 sucks, you dont know what your talking about. If you think pistoleers are overpowered, become one, and then you can get killed all the time like I do.


Funny how you didnt note that carbines do way more damage per shot. I dont really know though, Im not a carbineer.


I also dont want to spend my skill points in smuggler, or bounty hunter. So they should nerf pistoleer because with smuggler its to powerful? How do you know that? By looking at the skill tree? Yeah, thats real accurate.


Im on your board because of a link that was on my board, I think us pistoleers suck, but I never say another profession needs to be nerfed. I spent a lot of time grinding xp. And I suck. Focus on fixing your own profession, and dont try to ruin ours, and I'll do the same.


0.0.4.4 those are the only worthwhile skills for me, although I dont even want to waste the points on the last line there. With the third one Fan shot is the only worthwhile special. So..1.2 million xp for one special, that is random ham. I still use Bodyshot2 when fanshot sometimes finally reduces all stats to almost zero, and I just want to finally kill something. I do pvp sometimes, but as for fighting mobs, I get wasted all the time. Our profession sucks right now, if you dont belive me, do some testing, or become one of us so you can be as crappy..oh wait, I mean overpowered as we are. Blahblhablhablah

Forget what I said, listen to Jaggen, I didnt read his before I posted. Im tired anyway. Im just sick of people saying we should be nerfed. The devs seem to listen to that. Yay for Jaggen

Pistoleers you do have a knockdown attack: its called pistol whip. I always found it kind of strange that you guys could knockdown huge mobs...like snorballs
