Like many of you i'm keen to be able to try out some of the new carbines coming with the CU, but from the bits of information i've found on the forums, it seems at least three of the smartest looking ones won't be coming to carbineer. From what i've read the Czerka is BH, the proton is commando, and the E5 is SL. Now, I know things can change, and there are also other new types of carbine, so it won't do anyone any good to run around screaming just yet.[grins]
However, it does strike me as odd that a master carbineer can't use all the carbines in the game? Now, from reading about how specials work, and that if you pay the points for a proffession, you can use that proffessions specials (or most of them, except the'distinction' specials?) with a different weapon type. This sounds fair, but for me, what makes the weapon cert issue unfair is while you can pay the skill points to master carbineer, and have access to all of those specials from that proffession, and still have more or less half your skill points left, it is looking highly unlikely you'll have enough points to access all the carbines in game to use with the actual 'carbineer' proffession. This no doubt applies to all combat proffessions who have there new weapon certs in other proffessions, so the problem is not uniquely carbineer related.
The solution is to allow some weapons to be certed multiple times, or perhaps mastering carbineer, or pistoleer, etc, would give you all the certs for that proffession specific weapon. The CU is already blurring the lines between proffessions doing specific things, which could be looked upon as good or bad, but what good is a 'master carbineer', when clearly they aren't a master of all carbines.
Edit: For clarification, i'm 'not' suggesting BHs, SLs and commandos lose there new carbine certs, just that carbineers should recieve them as well.

Can a Master Rifleman use all the Rifles in the game? NO
Can a Master Pistoleer use all the Pistols in the game? NO
So why does a Master Carbineer have to get all the Carbines in the game?
Remember other profs deserve weapons in this new system, so in general think about the good of other profs, not just Carbineer
The current lack of certs in Carbineer is upsetting WAY MORE TO ME as I have had to deal with it for months, not days like all of you....
BTW, those 3 you list, will most certainly not be leaving those profs.....lets hope we can get dual certs on them but don't hold your breath.....

I must be blind, but where in the world in commando do you see the proton carbine listed?
...if you could tell the box it would help, but I swear, I have looked it over 4 times and don't see it there...
Since the corro said "those three", I don't have much hope that it actually isn't there, but you never know.

It was something strongly asked for by the Commandos.....and I can't blame them.
Honestly I haven't looked myself....and the loot weapons don't show certs in the skill trees....so don't know 100% until I get on TC5 today (which I will do now).

Give the commandos the underslung carbine, that one looks like a commando weapon. The proton carbine doesn't look like anything a SWG commando would weild.

yes i disagree with even BH getting a scatter pistol and pistoleers not getting certed for it.
One of the biggest things i wanted from the CURB was being able to use all of those new weapons.
Now i realise that it isn't going to happen unless i start dabbling in professions i really dont care for.
And oh joy the few guns i liked are certed in professions i am not willing to pick up
At least the elite will be useful and that has always been my favorite looking gun
*sigh* oh well, maybe next combat revamp ;D

Not fair to all other profs that are hybrids to not get Carbines too.....just hoping we see dual certs, but some Carbines were made just for a specific hybrid prof, sorry.

Hmmm...might have to revamp my template to at least get the Czerka and the E5...hope you only need novice BH and SL to get them!

Instead of fixing the visibility of scopes/sttocks/barrels...they are dispensing with them entirely. No visual-tweaked weapons anymore. Carbines were the most fun to make this way too, along with some nifty-looking pistols. Very sad
Personally I would rather see 20 FPS than 2 FPS.....so it is fine with me
But the 2 FPS is worth it because while you're frozen in place for a few seconds you can admire your gun's beauty ![]()

I'm definately going to miss the customization options. While it makes no difference in game mechanics, I like being able to customize my gear. It is an extension of me after all.

Sense we are talking about Certs, I currently have a Lithium Carbine (looks like an Elite Carbine) with a REALLY cool Visual Effect, but I cannot use it as I am not certified.
I am currently Master Bounty Hunter with Carbineer 0-3-0-0.
No where in the trees do I see the cert and was wondering if you knew?
