Thread: EE3 AoE working?

I've only recently started using some strategies which rely on AoE specials and such. I realized about 2 days ago Carbineer is the only profession I can think of that has a weapon with an inherent AoE, the EE3 carbine.

I've been experimenting with it and the damage cone seems to have gone away. It was the bane of my existence when it was just an agro-magnet on Endor but now with my other crowd control options I actually *wanted* it to work and it doesn't.

Anyone else even using these now? The damage isn't great or anything, but I figured the HAM costs would at least be relatively lower when the cone effect was factored in.

Give me a shadowed forest into which I might disappear.
Give me a terrible foe and stack the odds against me.
Give me friends and creatures with whom I can share my adventures, my losses and my gains.
Let the gales blow and the world be torn asunder but don't make me stand alone against the tempest.

This has been a topic of discussion since Day 1, as everybody BUT ME says it is broken. Personally I say it works for a 3m radius, but the AI doesn't stack critters that close so it never hits more than one.

Either way, it doesn't have any REAL affect in-game, sorry. Cone shots are Specials and we have no useable splash damage weapon.

That seriously sucks then. It *did* work when I didn't want it to work and now I'm actually working with the idea and it doesn't work.

I can stack up the NPCs as close as I please, fire directly through a crowd into a lair and it only hits one target. I've been testing it by sending my pet to attack a lair and intentionally forcing the NPCs to crowd together for the group shot and watching my combat spam.

I can always use area specials for that, but it would have been nice considering the HAM cost involved. I'm seriously getting jealous of my riflemen friends who are dropping whole columns of Stormtroopers with one StrafeShot2.

It is a radius, not a cone on the EE3. All the Specials are a cone....

It'd gladly give up the EE3's non working radius for AR1 hehe.

Today I lined up at least 3 pickets and at least 2 of them had to have been closer than 3m, equiped my EE3 and fired cripplingshot. Only 1 guy took the damage.

Do you realize that while riding my bike I am 2-3m away from it? So getting two creatures within 3m is quite unlikely......

I can't tell from that screenshot. Also remember the splash damage is probably like the cone specials in that the targets won't really take damage until they are in combat.

I suppose the best way to test this is with PC's standing withing 3m......I can try that out today.

you could test this pretty easily by dueling a friend, having your friend pull a droid, then telling your friend to stand directly on top of his droid.

Typically I'm firing at the lair, *through* the group of NPCs so I always hit my stationary target but either the area of effect is bugged or just by luck I have *never* had one of the NPCs fall into the hit-zone. The bugged status of the effect seems much more likely than several hundreds of missed shots in close quarters.

This is exactly what I am saying, you are making MY point for me. The 3m splash is NOT a Cone Effect so it only extends out 3m from the CENTER of the lair. I highly doubt the CENTER of a critter is within 3m of the CENTER of the lair.....

If you have a pet there, they will absolutely NOT be within 3m of each other. The AI puts critters evenly spaced around whatever they are attacking.....

I was just saying that screenshot doesn't show enough info to see where the second critter is exactly. And the bigger the creature the harder it is to get them within 3m.

This just needs to be tested in a controlled PC environment, which I didn't do this weekend, sorry.

The AI *tries* to evenly space out the critters but I've witnessed creatures, specifically tortons, who are overlapping to such an extent that you would mistake them for one creature until one of them falls down and leaves the other standing in its place.

Aim at the lair, aim at the creatures, same effect either way.
