Greetings,

After combining the progress I've made and looking at what professions interest me, I finally decided on TKA. If any one has any tips on the best (not necessarily the fastest) way to accomplish this, I'd love to hear them.

You made the right decision..i LOVE my TK master..

Its a tough long road...the way i leveled up quickly was to start off with low level mobs on the newb planets that give 200-400 xp per kill until you reach TK novice and can use a vibro Knuckler weapon.

You can then move to bigger game.

The best mob to level on is prolly the bax nitches on dathomir, but u should be pretty strong and have several boxes in the TK tree before u do it

Level up the power tree to max and then the balance tree and lastly the meditation tree...the meditation tree is really cool and has some very fun skills like force of will and meditate but they are more of a convenience than a necessity as that skill line DOESNT add anything to ur combat abilities

Appreciated.

I ground my way up the Marksman tree (now I can't find anyone to train) and didn't find it very exciting, but I when I decided on working towards TKA, got novice and started pummeling things, it seemed a lot more rewarding. I can accept the fact that this is a long, tough road...but feeling rewarded like that makes it worth it.

I know most people are going the CHor Doctor route, but I really can't see giving up my marksman skills. Yeah, they were a pain, but I earned them. Plus, I'll probably need to leave myself an out when I finally do start getting into PvP.

Thanks for the tips.

Another good thing about our class is that there are still quite few masters out there...unlike the insane numbers of master CHs and master Doctors we still see

As soon as we get that tank ability our class will be even more fun

I dropped MCH back in January and quit playing in feb. I had MCH since about week 3 or 4 of the game So needless to say I have no idea what to do anymore reguarding leveling a CH. I went and trained Novice CH nd had enough SP to get Tame I, Train I, EMP I , and Group I andy ideas on what I should go for next or what to hunt and with what pets. I can have a CL 20 pet out. Any suggestions would be helpful

Ok I never was Carbineer. in fact I hated carbines even two days ago. but yesterday I tried my BH Carbs skills to get Master BH, and I was surprised by the nice state attacks it has. so I looked at the skill trees for a couple hours lol while I was in sennex cave, and I thought of a great combo I could do with Carbineer. We see so many people beeing Pistoleer, but I don't really see the good of it now, even thought that's what I wanted to be hahaha. Pistols are quick, of course. it shoots so fast, I don't think any carbine could shoot that fast. but it's more effective at close range, while carbines shoot at long range and affect state and can kockdown targets, which you can't do if you're pistoleer. so I think I'm gon try Carbineer after I master BH. but that makes me think. is it really worth it losing skill points in scout and master marksman to get a few carbine skills? BH Carbs give +50 speed and accuracy, more than the whole carbineer tree, and it gives Fire Knockdown, a good shot. but is it really worth the skills points? cause check out this combo I may wanna try:

Master Carbineer

Master TKA

Pistoleer Pistol Techniques

and a few other skills, maybe Pistol Grips for Dodge (does Dodge work for Carbines too???, please answer this)

with this, you get

Ranged AND Melee Mitigation 3

a great Ranged AND Melee defense

state and posture change defense with pistoleer skills, plus maybe Dodge if it works

you get a great melee offensive power against jedis or other unarmed foes, and a great ranged offensive power against running coward mofos.

BUT the carbineer tree only gives +35 speed, while BH Carbs give +50. combine the two and you get so fast at shooting, and at BH Carbs you get good accuracy too if the target has good ranged defense. and BH gives you fire knockdown too...

so would it be best to go with BH Carbs even if the skill pts cost is high?

and if not, is my combo good enough? like I said I never been carbineer, so if I find a good combo I'll try it

ok basicaly this is how it is. DON'T GET CARBINEER W/O BH MODS! period end of dicussion.it is extremely slow unless you spend millions on a krayt carbine. I love carbines in fact i have been master carbineer for as long as i can remember and i always had it with bh carbines 4. I went to tweek my template to get sl and ch in order to get jedi faster. Perhaps the single worst mistake i made. Without bh mods carbineer is extremely slow and inacurate even at master. So either get master carbineer and bh carbines 4 or don't do it at all being it is an empty proff w/o it

actually, Hit, before TA jumps you, let's try to reclarify what you were saying.... You can be a perfectly successful MCarbineer with no BH, provided you can get ahold of +25 in carbine speed tapes and armor attatchments. At 90 speed you cap out with any weapon with 4.0 speed or less, so going above that is all based on gravy or getting some of the additional BH specials (FireKnockdown for instance, which is the only reason why i keep BH carbs 3, otherwise i'd drop to 2 and a handy 95 speed.)

I've looked at the mixing of TKA with carbineer though, since i habitually carry around novice at least and usually like to get 4000 on any template, and it seems to me it would be fine for getting some mid-range defenses (do fencer if you want to max them </bow TAFirehawk> and combining a hard-hitting melee. If you consider the use of the carbines as the secondary aspect of that template (/gasp!!) then you wind up with a TK who can, upon initiation of Kiting, Dizzy, Stun, PD, KD, etc .. that annoying pistoleer/carbineer/rifleman, then close in for the unarmedhit3 button mashfest kill. They wouldn't even need to spend the money or effort on all the skill tapes, since they could pretty easily get ahold of the <1Million credits for a Krayt Enh E-11 (on starsider i THINK Mira was selling them for about 400k) and be firing at cap anyway.

It sounds like a fair template, if that's your style.

Quoted for enthusiasm. This is the onlyinstance where one can substitute the BH line for melee. You will need the BH line in order to be effective without speed tapes.

Once you hit +25 in tapes, you can speedcap a 2.7 speed weapon (requires krayt tissues, speed slices/powerups, etc.)

Or, you can even go up the currently bugged melee speed FS tree (Combat Prowess 000x) and get up to 12 more "effective" carbine speed that way.

Once you do get atleast 25 (or near there.. for the longest time I had less than that but was using a 1.6 speed krayt carbine.. it's all about calculating your speedcap), then the fun begins. You'll be able to couple a fully-mastered melee profession, even throw in some Pistol Tech and medic/dodge, etc.

And then you become invincible, heh. The only thing that will take you out are poisons/DoTs, no exceptions.

I meant +25 on top of the +65 from master carb/marksman 0044... that comes to the magic 90 and 4.0 speed capping.
