Tapes are attachments yes, sorry. Heh. Some people call em tapes cause they stick to your clothing and the CAs look like tape and.. yeah.

Dodge only works with Pistoleer and Fencer. Dodge food works (since it increases your % success of dodging, and is independant of your actual dodge rate), but you want to look into CounterAttack for Carbineer.

(I chose TKA instead of Fencer because 1-TKA is stronger in offense in my opinion and 2-I don't remember the Fencer tree right now so I don't know what defenses they have lol).

Master TK:

Combat Equilibrium +55
Defense Acuity +96

Defense vs Blind +10
Defense vs Dizzy +5
Defense vs Knockdown +20
Defense vs Posture Change +30
Defense vs Stun +15
Melee Defense +62
Ranged Defense +45

Master Fencer

Combat Equilibrium +30
Defense vs Blind +40
Defense vs Dizzy +40
Defense vs Intimidate +20
Defense vs Knockdown +50
Defense vs Posture Change +50
Dodge +105
Melee Defense +76
Ranged Defense +69

Highlighted in blue means "better". Fencer clearly has better defenses, but the damage output in PvE is significantly reduced. In PvP, in most cases, Fencer damage is better than TK damage (Stun baton instead of Kinetic), but Fencers don't have a direct knockdown or mind-specific hits. Tough call.

Meditative Techniques 4 allows you to:

A) Heal all your wounds

B) Heal any bleeds

C) Heal any poisons

D) Heal any disease

So if someone like a CM stacks you hard and you kill him, and you can find a safe spot to sit, meditate will remove that nasty tick and you'll be back and kickin' in a few seconds.

It's an awesome ability, really. I gave it up only because our PvP group goes out with a full Master Doc/CM at all times. I still miss it.

As for the Stun baton in PvP.. yeah, it really only depends on how good of an Acklay Baton you get. Once you start hitting with a multi-million dollar baton, you'll notice a clear difference between that and any PvP weapon. Still, TK is pretty potent and I envy their more balanced damage.

Not sure on the ability name, but TKA's have another ability to self-buff their mind, i think it is called powerboost, not completely sure if that name is right or if the ability still exists.

Not to mention combat equilibrium is really handy, although defence acuity would probably work better with dodge then counterattack. Still handy

Another great benefit of TKA that no one seems to have mentioned is meditate. Unquestionably one of the best abilities in the game. Fencer's defences are much better, so it really boils down to why you are taking the second melee prof. If you are using the defences to supplement your carbineer skill pick up fencer, but if you are planning on using the second proffession TKA will likely work better for you. Fencer defences + Pistoleer defences = almost invincible in PvP, just ask TA. But on the other hand TKA defences are nothing to snuff your nose at ... plus a knuckler will outdamage a gaffi anyday in PvP, and despite the opinion that stun damage "pwns j00" in PvP a stun baton really isn't that great. Look at the numbers.

DXR-6

Average Effectiveness Sliced stun suit 85% Acid resistance (that is high good, chances areit will be lower) + 0% added from a PSG + 0%for AR1 vs. AP1 ... if you do 100 damage it is reduced by 85%, they take 15.

Overall Effectiveness: 85%

Stun Baton

Average Effectiveness Sliced stun suit 39% Stun resistance (about average, may in fact be lower) + 44% added from a PSG + 50% AR1 vs AP0 ... if you do100 it isreduced by 50% from AR1 to 50, 50 reduced by 44% to 28, 28 reducedby 39% to 17, they take 17 damage.

Overall Effectiveness: 83%

Alouth armour may vary from server to server, you can see stun batons aren't all they are cracked up to be, or maybe DXR-6's aren't given the credit they deserve. Also consider mitigation, melee playersoutnumber 3 to 1 on some servers. which means there are alot of players with no ranged mitigation. Of course if you run these numbers against someone without a PSG, and no stun layers in their armour ... it changes dramatically, but in all honesty you aren't going to come across that in PvP very often, and if you do it is likely an inexperienced player and it won't matter what kind of weapon you have.
