Totally agree, and I love my role as a carbineer. I used to be a fencer/pistoleer and I could solo huge groups of people, then the next few weeks, I considered cancelling my account. I come back and change my profession from pistoleer/BH, but that was horrible. No role in PvP or PvE.


Now that I'm a carbineer, I can use a series of attacks to make my group and me attack their group WAY easier, stun, dizzy, KD etc make everyone's life in my group way easier.


In my experience, 1 on 1, carbineer/BH is the best ranged class. You can beat pistoleers/BH's, pistoleers/smugglers, riflemen, commandos, every ranged class. However, when pitched against a melee'er it's very hard to win. 1 dizzy KD and you're on your back, which every melee'er does. Landing a dizzy/kd on a melee'er is very hard because of their insane defenses, especially when stacked with rifleman or pistoleer.

If the rifleman is wearing 80-90% armor and is buffed then there is no way you can beat him. It just isn't possible. You can use the best stratagies, put all the states on, and dizzy/KD them, but you still won't dent their armor and buffs. Its just so angrifying. Until Composite armor is nerfed or fixed somehow, Carbineer will never ever be effective without stun or mind damage. Without uber composite, Carbineer would actually be pretty damn good.

You are correct and a little off-topic. I love going off-topic so let me add some more


I have 85% Comp (15-20% stun) myself and in this encounter I had around 2400 buffs. Brandy and canape were used as well along with damage reduction and accuracy boost food. While the Rifleman owned the poor Wookie and the unbuffed, he was hurting me about twice what I was inflicting on him. Unfortunately my canape ran out and then I was down in under 1 minute. And yes I did the Dizzy/KD on him, which was really the only time I did any decent damage - ran him down to about 2/3 HAM. I am sure he wasn't worried because he could pop a Stim B whereas I was screwed losing Mind. But this was solo too, which is crazy for a Carbineer IMO against almost any PvP target.


It is sad how out of balance the Rifleman is, so (back on topic) if you want to solo PvP and "twitch" fight, go Rifleman not Carbineer. If you like to group PvP and use TACTICS and your MIND as a weapon, go Carbineer

I don't care about the mind damage part but it would be nice to have at least one gun that does smoe other dmg than the 3 types we have now. There are some NPCs that we can't even hurt because they are 100% resist to everything we have.

A little off topic again here buttheonly problem with riflemen I have is their insane speed. I mean seriously, if there gonna do that much damage it shouldnt be that fast. It is totally out of proprotion when compared to carbineer and pistoleers. Hopefully their speed will be dropped slightly at master but more gained before master, so they arent totally useless until master, then suddenly turn uber. Also hopefully carbineers speed will be slightly boosted at master, after the combat rebalance.


As far as the whole targeting the mind thing, I couldnt imagine rifleman without some sort of a headshot. Thats what gives them their uniqueness. Its just the combination of everything that makes rifleman uber...mind target, superfast speed, and AP1 stun weapons.

That is the problem, the game isn't centered around being in a group. Hopefully it will be someday but right now there is very little reward for groups. Yes the group can take on larger creatures/NPCs but if you get no piece of that XP pie then what is the point. XP is based on dmg done whether you are grouped or not. So just playing the "support" role and laying state effects does nothing for a Carbineer trying to earn XP unless you are master and no longer care about XP.

LOL, thats why EQ is set up like it is... to do most of the cool stuff you need a group, and sometimes SEVERAL groups... (ever raided the Planes??)


I personally believe that all our current "high-level" content (Krayts, NS, Rancors, Gorax, etc...) should be seriously cranked up to make them worth killing... soloing a Krayt is BS and anyone who has read the books knows it...

Hunting Krayts and NIghtsisters and such there should be no talk of sharing XP, those people should already be Masters in their given profession(s). I just don't buy the XP angle. But if you are leveling then grouping is only good to raise the mission level, not share in the kills

i've been seeing numerous posts on this board complaining how we don't do mind damage, and we don't have a stun damage, etc.


CARBINEERS ARE NOT RIFLEMEN!


if you want to do mind damage, go be a rifleman. if you want to do high amounts of stun damage, go be a rifleman.


if you became a carbineer to "pwn and be ub4r l337" you chose the wrong proffession.


yes carbineer doesn't work PERFECTLY but it's pretty much where it should be. I think we should be given about 15-20 more speedand maybe an attack like FullAutoSingle3 when you hit master, but that's about it.


sure a new type of weapon would be kewl. but i'd also like them to fix our broken guns like the Radius with EE3s. or the certifications on dot and mod'd DH17's.


giving us a mind attack and a stun gun will only make us rifleman. I didn't become a carbineer cause i wanted to be a rifleman. i've been there done that. it took no intelect, no mods, nothing special other than my index finger and 3 Fkeys.


yeah it does kinda stink that master rifleman can beat you pretty easily with their Jawa Ion rifles and their mind damage. but if you're smart you can beat them. i'm an imperial and i raid the "Rebel Stronghold" (New Alderan)on mysever everyday on my own or with a few other guys. i get about 2-6 kills and then die pretty quickly. if i wanted to be able to tank 5 PC's at a time i'd change my proff. I'm a support class. I can inflict multiple states on multiple people, knockdown targets, and do some decent area damage to an opposing group.


If you're use to spamming one special move, you need to change your style or go to a new proffession.

Call me lucky or call me a liar but I dueled a master rifleman and I won! We were both buffed and I incapped her HEALTH I used two brandy's and a muon because I thought my mind was a little low. She was using a jawa rifle. Yes we both were wearing armor I dont know how good her's is but mine is around 80% to everything and 33% stun everything and a 39% stun helmet. :shrug:
