Thread: Carbicide

Been a Master for almost a month now.
I had been a TKM/BE since release, i know that TK specials hit the HAM pretty hard, but carbineers seem to be alot worse, at least as a TK, i could kill targets faster than killin myself, and without vibros equiped, i had no probs at all, doc buffs were'nt an issue.

As a carbineer, we NEED doc buffs.

without a doc buff, i commit carbicide, meaning, my HAM (from specials) goes down faster than the targets

I have tried an assorment of foods, but nothin seems to compare with doc buffs

Can I be an effective carbineer without a doc's buff?

Is the HAM costs too high?

LOL I hope this term sticks, I like it. It fits so well.

Heres a song that doesn't rythme:

OK everyone lets go carbicide today,

With nodoc buffs, Isuicide myself with only four shots, thats right only four shots,

So come on everybody,trycarbicide today.

lets go; come on; every carbineer, lets carbicide today.

I'm sure someone else can write one better then that.

Here are some numbers that I noticed:

Enemy: Sharnaff ham: ~10000

Me: Wookie ham: ~1000

approximateaverage crippling shot hit: 1300

Special ham hit: 145

It takes more then 7 hits to kill a sharnaff

It takes less then 7 to kill myself

I may survive if the sharnaff doesn't attack me at the same time

To survive you have to use meds of some sort

Anyone else get simalar results?

Question:

why does it take more mind toshoot a carbine then it does to do TK specials?

As a TK you use your physical mind and body a lot more then carbine, since as a carbineer you are useing a tool that was made for shooting things.

Interesting term....

Nothing new though, we have always needed Doc buffs and/or food to be a Carbineer. If you can find some old Tat Sunburn and Ryshcate, which I have on my vendors, you can do non-armor wearing fighting just fine w/o Doc buffs. Although Doc buffs are much easier and very cheap.

Please forgive my ingnorace, but why wouldn't you get buffed? It'd be nice to not spend the credits on buffs, butI can gain exp. so much faster with buffs that it makes it well worth the 8k - 12k credits required for 3 hours of buffs.

I think the point is that if you dont want to waste up to an hour getting doc buffs you still should be able to play without commiting carbicide.

Waste an hour getting buffs, goodness man, what horrible server are you playing on? Doc buffs are about as easy to catch as the common cold.....

We give the Docs something to do, Carbineer is just one link in the Eco-System we call SWG

As a former heavy swordsman i'd just like to say try swingin a powerhammer without buffs with or without armor. Carbines don't have it so bad.

I just meant it could possiblity of it taking up to an hour. If I log out deep in the back country of Dath, head to starport, wait a while (10-20 min), get to coronet, find doc and buffed (10-20 min), wait for shuttle back to dath. Probably never has taken a full hour or even close, but a huge hassle nevertheless.

carbine is not a weapon designed for skill spam (at least until ham cost is fixed)

I often hunt with buffs with laser carbines and such, yes cripple shot cost me 300 action points but most of the time I will do massive damage.

Take it from me, I've done all single-tree-branching advanced professions from marksman and brawler. Hammertime special costs have nothing on Carbicide.
