I think there is a bug with weapon switching on Live. Any assistance researching it would help.

When you switch weapons, where is the delay happening? Before or after your toon switches weapons.

Are there 2 delays? One before and one after switching?

After you switch, does the new weapon fire and then there is a pause?

Please try thiswith weapon combos other than carbine/carbine switches and switch weapons in combat.

And please, only respond if you have carefully done this while watching your combat log. No "I think" or "If I remember posts". I need reliable info.

Many thanks for any observations.

Looks like a good time to get back into the swing of things here in Carbineer Land....

I wish I would have known this last night, I did a lot of weapon switching fighting NS Rancors and NS Rancor Trainers from DXR6 to Laser respectively.

When I get in-game I will test this, but some observations from last night:

  1. Weapon switching gets in the Queue so this gives the feel of a delay beforehand, but personally it seems to be after...of course testing must be done

  2. The weapon delay seems much shorter than the armor delay, but that may be from the number of pieces of armor compared to one weapon.

I think the way to test this is get a Special that you fire at 1.0 seconds (or an integer multiple of that) and queue up a weapon change and look at the combat log. And remember the animation/graphics lag can NEVER be trusted.....too bad the Combat Log isn't more reliable, but I love getting a damage number on ScatterShot2 now.

BTW, this will be extremely tough to test, especially on Dant where there is often a 5-15 sec lag on graphics.....

So far as I've seen, there's only a pre-delay. I've been in some hairy gunfights where I've been forced to swap weapons out and the effect does not appear to slow me down once the weapon is in hand.

The weapon delay is shorter than the armor piece delay. Its only about 3 seconds for a weapon swap/equip, where its a GOOD 5 seconds for a piece of armor.

To be honest Im a MBH carbineer in training and I rarely even notice much of a delay between switching from carbine to LLC. I tend not to "rapid switch" thou. I usually only switch weapons once or twice in a fight.

Dizzy/KD (switch) LLC2 LLC2 (dead target) (switch "notice delay here") back to carbine spamming goodness.

I think it is related to weapon speed. Switching from my speed power hammer to my very slow Poison DoT Pike there is delay after switching until I strike...

Ill try these combos

Slow Hammer to Slow Pike

Speed Capped scythe to Speed capped VKs

Speed Capped scythe to Slow Pike

Speed Capped scythe to Slow Hammer

Slow Hammer to Speed Capped VKs

Slow Hammer to Speed Capped scythe

and combat log it all that is cross profession and not and speed and slow in all combos...Im master TK Master Sword Master brawler so switching to LVA is not a problem I am sill certed for it.

There is one major bug they never considered...

If you have your weapons toolbared (everyone does) and you mis-hit the buttom, maybe you're trying to hit "Cripple Shot" five times in a row, but on accident you hit one of your weapons five times in a row...it will spam "slot occupied" for the next 15 to 20 seconds while during this time it is attempting a weapon switch, and you can't actually fight back -- your character is stuck in "weapon switch mode."

Have you tried to clear the combat queue when that happens?

The odd thing though, is that I can clearly recall several times just standing there, and hitting one of my other carbines in the hotbar, and my character switching to it immediately, at which point the (3?) second delay queued up after the switch.

Still, while in combat, the regular 'queued up' and pre-delay seems to work.

What I have found:

To change from one weapon to second: no delay.

If, however, my combat queue has attacks with the first weapon, the weapon won't switch until those attacks are finished. Or cleared.

I have three guns. If I click the other 2, there appears to be a 3 second delay after a weapon has been switched, before I can switch *again*.

I think 100% of the people will disagree with this one.....and remember the graphics have LAG....

Actually, I was looking at it out of combat.

In combat, yes, there's a 3 second delay on each switch.

Out of combat, you can switch to a second weapon with no delay.

Well see, that's the thing. In Combat, if feels like it's a pre-delay, but it could be a post (in which case, the graphical 'yellowing' of items in your toolbar simply throws you off.)

But Brilyn is right in stating that if youre standing there and switch from your current weapon to the next, it's instant. You just won't be able to switch to a 3rd without experiencing delay. It's definitely post-delay in these instances..

..which makes me believe all delay is post-switch.
