With these recent posts floating about, explaining the new carbines and pistols to come threw in Publish 10, primarily carbines as the focus, could anyone else see carbineer as a new FOTM? Basically, in my guild, when the sythe begun to pop up as a new swordsman weapon, I would have to say 30% (which is a lot looking at those crafters in the guild and those who do not want to give up their template currently) switched over to the proffesion simply for the weaponry.
Same when the hack came out, pistoleer with the Geo pistol or DE-10 (though none have yet to gain the DE).
Honestly, I cant see carbineers getting a huge surprise in the new carbines, though if we happen to gain a great damage type (come on cold!!!) it could go the path of the others, with all the blasted grindings switching to carbineer for a 'test run' of the new guns. I know I may not be the best duelist, but by God, I am a group proffesion and I work just fine as carbineer (save the few twitches that make me angry). A new carbine would be nice, and we need a boost for a bit of competition with the other proffesions, but I enjoy having carbineer as a rare proffesion.Do you think carbineers will remain a rarity or become another fencer or rifleman proffesion type?

I have done very well as a Master Doc/master carbine. I can hold my own against many professions, minus Jedi and the Uber Rifleman.
Of couse you have to have some cash to get the +25 skill tapes for speed, accuracy and accuracy while moving. The only other advice is make sure you are never intimidated in a fight sincethat will completly negate your Conterattack, which is not working as good as dodge but it still does work.
Synthsteak, full buffs, brandy, and maybe some vercupi plus your standard 70% resist (BASE) armor and a stun helmet. - (remember that everyone is using these items in PvP so this should be a given.

Unless its like stun damage (part of me would say yay, most of me would gag on the thought of FOTM herds.), the new guns might help carbineer, but not make such a difference as to make it ultra-powerful. A mew non-stun damage type would be very cool, but unless it has better stats than a DXR-6 or Laser Carbine, it won't help much in PvP.

wow would be neat to see ranged professions actually make a comeback in SWG. Melee has dominated for along time as the most popular class. Which to me is silly considering this is starwars. imagine a group of overts battling it out and the majority were using blasters! Might actually see Players in Stormtrooper armor using the carbines!

I believe it is stun that reduces counterattack.

New carbines will not make us magically target the mind.
Until that happens, carbineer won't become a fotm...

In the current state of Carbineer (even w/ new Carbines) and the Combat System, I don't see us being a FOTM profession. Yes, we will get new Carbineers who are curious about the upcoming weapons, which is not a bad thing. Heck, I'm a new Master Carbineer.
But in our current state: No Mind Pool focus, high HAM costs, not as "highly damaging" as Riflemen, and not enough damage types (should be rectified to a degree soon), all of these will keep us from being FOTM.

Intimidate - reduces damage output.
Blind - reduced accuracy
Stun - decreases your speed (specifically i believe it takes out an attack round - ie you attack half as fast).
I've heard that intimidate reduces certain defenses, there are some threads on the brawler forum.
