Right now, and I hate to say it, if you can't hit mind you'll lose a lot.

Not being able to hit my makes it hard but not impossible, just keep the state changes on them at all times and use scattershot2 to drain away the mind, will take awhile but if you can stay alive long enough you have a good chance of winning. If you can't get KD to work then try some posture down shots when they are dizzy for the same effect, works very good against those with high kd defense or those that have eaten kd resist food.

Never thought about using scatter 2 to hit mind, nifty.

ive had the same difficulty getting KD's and even posture changes tostick before rifleman #5689 wipes out my mind. personally, im waiting for the combat balance before i decide to give upthe BH carbs tree of myBH/Carb combo for something with a bit more defence etc. (probably go M-Carbs/TKA or something)Relying on scattershot seems a bit chancy in my experience, since the damage output for mind attacks is much higher coming from riflemen, swordsmen or TK's.

as it stands, any profession without significant mind attacks is much better for PvE than PvP. We'll just have to wait and see what the final combat balance brings.

Dueled some kind of melee guy for like 5 mintues and every minute or so I'd net like 100 damage but then he'd just heal it away. I kept in trying to KD him but I think he took thakillo. I have a pretty good imperial stocked elite and 85% armor myself but I just can't touch these guys. Is there something I'm doing wrong or do I have to jump onto the rifleman bandwagon to do any kind of damage.

Right now its all about Stun damage/mind damage....hence Rifle/Jawa Fencer/Baton

It was actually always about mind/stun damage....Based purley on what armor is out..it will always be about stun/mind damage.

I dont know what took you guys soo long to figure that out

I remember on radiant nobody was a rifleman cuz there where no rainbow gems for t-21's.

I remember getting my first jawa rifle and my friend telling me they suck cuz the damage was low and i said...'but its stun damage' and i had to convince him otherwise. Now, 6 months later everybody see's the power....I dont have any other points left otherwise id do fencer cuz theres acklay stun batons that do 192-192 stun damage (try and mitigate that!)

Carbine does rock though for PvE thats for sure...definatley my fav prof for that.

I took a gamble with my template for the combat fix coming up...and if my guess is right...well...then...just take a look at the sig..

Relying on stun weapons and mind hits is a weakness. Fact is I can stop that with a single piece of equipment. I cant speak for all servers but on corbantis stun helms are a given. Also im taking up carbine for the first time but im an exprienced fencer/swordsman.Fact is most pvp dont wear full suits exspeciallydocs. The trick is unless your enemy wearing full composite or full stun if your one of those luck classesthere is a weak point on their body.Chances its going in health or action. Use scatter shot to fire a couple volleys to determine which pool then try to to land a dizzy with auto fire then go for knockdown.Use this chance to do the damage while they cant heal. Not totally effective but in full out pvp its about all you got. If you play smart you can disable a person healing in that small window they have to heal themselves. Also another tactic that can help your team is just to forget about damage but instead focus on inflicting stat effects on the enemy.Stats like blind and dizzy can disable an enemy potential to defend itself by limiting it burst run ability and offensive attack power. Thats a big help for a fencer trying to chase down an enemy.I see a lot of potential carbineer can have in pvp andi guess im trying it out to test my theories but they are based on simple princples.

I've found that using full auto single 2 in PvP hits the mindalot.

ok, i think we can all agree upon elites being the most damaging weapon in PVP against mitigating players...so let's assume.

target: player w/ ranged mastery (ranged mitigationIII), +2000buffs, 2shots of Brandy (+800mind/foc/will)...total HAM...roughly 2800/2800/1800

carbineer: master carbineer w/ no other combat profession, pure carb damage dealing. +25carb speed attachments to maximize dps ability.

weapon: elite carbine w/ form-fitted stock, +50/-.6 krayt tissue, 30%dmg slice.

ok...now base stats for a nice elite carbine on flurry are 100-172 @3.7.

add 25min, 30max, and reduce speed by -.50 for the stock...

then add +50max, reduce speed by -.6 for the tissue...

resulting weapon w/ a 30% dmg slice is 162-327 @2.6

now classIII mitigation takes that to 162-228 @2.6...

w/ 2.6spd carb, a carbineer w/ +85 carb speed will cap cripplingshot...cripplingshot has a 7.5x dmg modifier as per novamarine's write-up on the specials...

so w/ 195avg dmg, firing 1sec/shot on a 7.5x modifier special that's 1462dmg...or 365dmg/sec in PVP.

if someone's wearing 80% composite which nowadays is far from "great" pvp armor...the dmg gets cut to 73dmg/sec...

only 'bout 50% of that will roll to health, so you get 37dmg/sec to health...i think that's quite obviously going to do nothing against a player w/ over 2k Health and great regen...

if you use scattershotII to try to hit mind heavier, which is a nice PVP tactic, you're still not going to touch someone w/ 1500-2k mind and 1200-1800 willpower.

someone please check my math here...but basically looks like even w/ a GREAT PVP carb, we're pretty much worthless against anyone w/ decent armor, even if you get them stun, blind, dizzied, and knocked down, you're doing 'bout 50dmg/sec which won't do you any good at actuallyincapping them.

point blank, w/out a stun carbine, the vast majority of pvp playerswe...just...can't...kill.

Reylying on stun mind damage is superiour..on my server at least Stun armor is at 40 % now and comp 80/80/70 usually.

All PvPers wear comp You just dont know which so you might as well go for stun its logical hence Combat medics/fencer/rifleman craze...Its natural selection...

Untill something drastically changes with combat system, it will always be that way..always...

It always was actually..not sure what took SO long for the PvP'ers to figure this out....I remember my first jawa way back. My friend said ," those suck look at the damage it 98-142 or whatever it was' And I said ya, but its stun damage (Back when there was no stun armor) Once again purley logical and I made it a point to not talk about it on the forums...Then when I was OWNING and people started hearing the Jawa and asking what it was..a wildfire started..at least on my server....Nobody wanted to be master rifle cuz Rainbow gems had never spawned ONCE since day 1 and therefore impossible to create a T-21...So I was a Very rare breed..very rare....It looks as though many more people with brains figured it out....

Then Muon gold was discovered...and became popular...Once again helping Rifles...

Then entertainer buffs.........................................................Once again helping rifles

Then damage mitigation 3...................................................Once AGAIN helping rifles (especially Jawa cuz of its small damage range...and ,well what do you know a little crappy stick with 80-130 STUN damage THE STUN BATON...)

Here come the FENCERS....

Now comes Gen cave

Acklay bone and poison....

Bone for UBER stun Batons like 350-350 damage (yep thats right NO mitigation possible on that!)

Poison for what..thats right..Combat medics

Here come the Fencers and Combat medics..

As you can see its Purley logical progression and quite easy to figure out actually, survival in the PvP world that is. and since the professions are the same, it comes down to the enviroment (loots, new shcematics, better armors,food/drink)

So right now I have 1240 APP ready to grind out the next change when nescessary...And when the Combat 'Fix' comes out...well. I've allready takin a gamble on what kind of template will be good...but I just wait and see

Doc buffs, healing ability etc will probably be addressed in the combat rebalance, whenever that happens.

I can't believe that they will allow insta-heal abilities after the rebalance. There's got to be some way to beat a Doctor, right? Right?
