Hm carbineer is an awesome class. But its to bad that armor and buffs are so good as they negate any fact of even a 125-550 ap2 laser carb. /sigh. here is what i say. make buffs so it will only go as high to equip a full set of armor. (encumberance) this should even things out. make buffs so when they happen you just have enough HAM to equip say a full composite set. no more. no less. feel free to flame me cuz im cold here in minnesota. lol

imo, armor is the biggest problem that we face other than CoB that melee has.

all nerfing buffs will do is make it so we cant kill any pve stuff.

personally i just think it would be nice for us to have a weapon that worked against armor.

i am NOT saying we need a stun weapon. perhaps this is what we need, but i am just saying it would be nice to have one with better AP or a damage type that is a bit more effective.

whenever i say that i also think about TKAs who have ONE type of damage and most armor people wear is 80 - 90% resistant to their one damage type

buffs allow players of all professions to go out solo, or in groups and take on PvE that would otherwise result in instant death. i am not too hip on the idea of having buffs nerfed, but i would not mind having a weapon or two that was a bit more like a T1 rifle, a Jawa Ion Rifle, or a Geo Blaster

No flaming necessary....and it isn't cold in Minnesota YET

This is a very real problem and for a lot more profs than just Carbineer. It is a shame that SOE couldn't fix this 6 months ago, it isn't that hard to tweak the Combat System....instead of re-write the whole thing from the ground up when they couldn't debug the current one after spending FOUR YEARS at this game....

Yes I am frustrated and I have done my share of programming in four languages so the Devs are not pulling the wool over my eyes.....

BTW, the tweaks needed to Carbineer are even easier......max ONE DAY.....to fix than the armor/buff situation.

The problem isn't the armor or buffs its the 75% damage reduction for all weps in pvp. If all the weapons did normal damage then the game would be balanced pretty good. Only problem is all those people that cried to have it like that will cry to not have it changed.

The problem IS Armor and buffs not the damage reduction. We had the reduction in before the uber composite we all have now and guess what? Carbineers did just fine killing people. Hell Armor is the main problem with this game period. Go buff up and not wear any armor and see how long you last against whatever your fighting now. You get rid of the 75% reduction PVE is still extremely easy and as we all know PVE is what makes up the majority of players game time.

yeap, more than buffs, armor is our issue as carbineers, I can eat HAM quite good, *before* armor, so for now I stick to "friendly" duels and I'm having fun doing this.

for those who call me a liar, here's a screenie, combat log is bottom right.

The 75% reduction was put in before the crazy buffs and armor were around, most PvP combat was over in 2-3 seconds. This made it more than a 2 shot game. I think both armor and buffs should be cut in half. this would make specials special again, not your standard attack. I enjoy running faction missions unbuffed, the game is actually fun, and takes some thought. You have to plan your attack to only agro one guy at a time, and choose your specials carefully. Biggest problem is the buffed to the gills 90% armor TEF killer on your way to get more missions.

The armor situation was a big part of what depressed me whenI finally hit BH Carbines IV/Master Carbineer. I was beyond lethal in PvE, I could drop anything I could damage with minimal effort and a little thought, but in PvP, all I was doing was decaying my guns faster, unless I was fighting someone with less than uber armor.

Armor is kinda high but without buffs you would see a bigger variation in what people wear to the battle field. Its not not really one or the other but both of them together. They just need to be lowered a little

yeah see Top five being resolved would make us more effective and balanced within the current system of buffs and armor.

personally i think carbineer should be able to shoot and hit a jedi at any level. not with a laser rifle but a slug thrower, have you ever seen a jedi block a slug?
