Anyone else here tired of stupid post about how in RL it wouldnt be possible for a melee fighter to kill a pistoleer or any ranged profession and how jedi would own melee professions reguardless of what ever? Seriously guys this is a game stop with RL post, if this game was like RL it would suck badly NO ONE would pick AN MELEE PROFESSION!!(inlcuding jedi)

(little skit i just made)

Jediseeing a guy pointing gun at him, gun fires) BLOCK*

BountyHunterwas lurking behind jedi while friend drew his attention)SPLAT*

Jedi=Dead brains all over floor

(another little skit)

Riflemen,Waiting on a mountain for an attack:HERE THEY COME!!!!

SNIPE*SNIPE*SNIPE*SNIPE*SNIPE*SNIPE*SNIPE*SNIPE*SNIPE

9Pistoleers fall dead before they could ever get in range

SNIPE*SNIPE*SNIPE*SNIPE*SNIPE*SNIPE*SNIPE*SNIPE*SNIPE

9Carbineers fall dead before they can get anywhere near to be accurate

THATS WHAT HAPPENS IN RL so plz stop with retarded post, if u want 1shot kills go play counterStrike

(no im not trying to flame im being blunt about the facts a game where people die in 1-or a few shots is boring)

Trucho-G,

Usually in RL, people dont charge snipers in blantant lines purposely waiting for their chance to get shot up.

Theres a lot more strategy and skill involved in ranged battles then you think. And your skits are totally inaccurate of a RL confrontation. (I dunno about you, but after my pistoleer friend gets shot by a sniper, I'm not gonna stand still and hope he misses.)

Aiming a rifle at the ranges you described, it takes alot longer then just a second to properly aim at the targets. After you have already gotten done with reaquiring them in your scope, it's hella difficult to get a good shot. Every single motion you make adversley affects your aim dramatically. And you have to deal with hitting someone sprinting either towards you, away from you, or to cover (and mind you, they wont be running in a straight line.) Hypothetically speaking, after you kill your 2nd pistoleer, the time you spent on him as given the remaining 7 enough opportunities to take you out.

According to your skit, if an infantry division all equips themselveswith sniper rifles, then they will be absolute to all other soldiers.

You know, there is a reason that the standard issue riflein most militaries are carbines (M16, M4, Ak47, etc.)

And Counter-Strike is far from being a remotley realistic shooter game.

you cant sneak up on a jedi. the jedi would probally deflect the shot so it hits the guy behind him before he cuts down the guy dumb enough to fire at him to his face.

AS opposed to Melee professions pwning ranged ones regularly? That would work for me...

Or we could just try to balance it so that Melee professions and ranged profession was equally powerfull, just an idea.

Just a minor correction since I'm a stickler for weapons. The standard personal weapon for most militaries is either an Assault Rifle (AK-74, M16, G36, Steyr AUG, etc.) or a Battle Rifle (G3, M14, FN FAL, etc.).

Carbines are used primarily for specific applications. Some countries use them extensively for special forces personnel, vehicle crewmen, or very specific cases where confined space is the main, constantconcern.

And as for Counter-Strike... the moment I saw guys bunny hopping in that game years ago, I left it and never looked back.

Bunny hopping was removed long before I started playing about 3 years ago. CS was one of the best games I have ever come accross. It did though, become boring after a while, so I played the WC3 and then the WC3expansion mod. So much fun. Then the developers became far too chummy with Valve, Steam was released by Valve. This combined with my computer flickering like crazy while in game was the only reason I stopped playing.

Um, I derailed the thread I think

Just to clairfy a squad is made up of a few important people.

Rifleman - M16

Grenadier - M16 with M203

Assualt - M249 Squad Automatic Weapon.

M4A1 - Carbine

M9 Berretta

That is it gentlemen.

Specforces may carry:

M4SOPMOD- Carbine

MP5SD - MP5 submachine gun with silencer

M25 Sniper Rifle

M82 Sniper Rifle (.50 Cal)

If there was a sniper that was attacking, then the Unit would call in for some quick artillery support of perhaps light armor (Bradley Fighting Vehicle TOW WEAPONS and 25mm gun) or Heavy Armor (M1 Abrams).

Anyone with a rifle/carbine can be a sniper. Generally unless your perched on top of a hillside/building shooting down into a populated area/base your not going to use the scope much. That is its just not very functional to be looking down a little tunnel unless you know for a fact where your enemy is going to be at. Otherwise you leave your self wide open, and you would be surprised how fast, far and accurate you can shoot using a carbine with a basic metal site.

Although in a deseret/plains situation snipers would be in abundance if you where techniacally inferior. Like we use choppers with thermal vision to pinpoint the enemy before we "snipe" em with a freaking missle from miles away...

People argue that this game isnt 'real enough' so if it were more real them charging like idiots at a sniper is exactly what would happen and them getting there heads blown off is what would happen as well. As for a Pistoleer covering....Sorry his not a sniper he isnt trained half as much for camoflauge he would get killed reguardless of what he does. Any short ranged fighters would die and never even see who was shooting at them. THATS RL

*Ok, before I continue the post, I am going to clarify my thoughts and accuse youto being very ignorant to any kind of RL combat situation.

In RL, I'm telling you, people dont react to snipers by "charging like idiots." And if you're a soldier in a dire state (ie; you and your enemy have just spotted eachother 8m away (you're fighting in a jungle or dense area)), you do not aim for the head, but rather the chest, because it represents a bigger target. Meaning that if you do take aim, you will acquire it faster, and your shots dont have to be so precise, therefore enabling you to shoot faster as well.

A Pistoleer covering? He doesnt need any sniper training to find cover. Cover as in hiding behind something. And he doesnt need any skills with camoflauge either .....oh wait, did you think i mean "cover" as in covering yourself with mud or soot? If you're hiding behind something, then you cant be seen (and yes, it has been statisically proven, it is more diffilcult to hit things you can't see otherwise.)

I'm no psychologist Trucho-G, but I'd reccomend you to stop playing Halo for awhile. It'll do you some good.
