Thread: Counter Attack, what does it do exactly?

i noticed carbineers get a special ability modifier for counter attack. Does anyone know exactly what counter attack does? Does everyone have a base chance to counter attack? And what exactly does +5 or +10 mean to counter attack (+5 or +10%)?
If anyone can shed light on my questions id appreciate it.

from what i understood all defenses worked the same. for every 2 points you get 1% chance the specific defense will fire. not sure how secondary defenses like counterattack work but i know melee and ranged defenses work this way

From what I've gathered Counter Attack is a dodge that allows you to follow upp with an "unblockable" attack.
But from what i've heard Counter Attack for carbineers doesn't fire as often as it should and it does not create unblockable attacks. (which is a shame since it would give us a prime weapon agains jedi if it did)

im pretty sure this is in the FAQ however i will give a quick synopsis
Counter-attack attacks a target back occasionally when they try to attack you. To my understanding it blocks the incoming attack and delivers and outgoing attack. Modifier increases chance of counter attacking however counterattacking at any level does not hit nearly as often as dodge as it is busted.

Toincrease chance of counterattacking you can try stacking it with swordsman. They get counterattacks as well.

That helps some, but CoB is the real key to any of the Secondary Defenses ![]()

If counter attack would work correctly, it would be the best defense mod for sure! Dodge is nice, but dodging and having your next attack systematicaly landing on the opponent would be quite something

that's the trick isn't it???
we've been screaming about a Counterattack fix since launch - and getting "wait for the Combat Balance" ![]()

I have +80 to Counter attack , and i haven't seen it go-off once.

And you never will because it has no extra animation or any other means of letting you know except for looking at the combat log.....

I also have +80 and I have to say that Nadiel26is prety close with his statement of every +2 gives you a 1% chance. In theory I should counterattack 40% of the time, I'd say it is about 3 in 10, so that is pretty close. And when you add in unknowns such as accuracy modifers and such I bet it is spot on.
