I am pretty sure I want to master carbineer, but I also the love the melee in this game..

I am a noob and basically rely on others to keep from gimping myself heh.. anyways, I was thinking master fencer or master tka.. but I am really not to sure..

Any help is appreciated

both fencer and tka are excellent choices. i would reccomend you master carbine and fencer and plug your remaining skill points into tka meditation and defense

and there was much rejoicing...

That sounds pretty good, but I want novice medic in there.. and marksman 0/0/4/4, so I only have enough to take either the defense, or the meditation to 4 in tka.. which you think is more important?

or maybe I could go 2/0/0/2 tka?

i would say swordsman because of counterattack (but with the big thing about the block/dodge/counterattack that's getting a nerf) but swordsman is alot of fun. another suggestion is pikeman, because you can attack somethings action pool when it's far away, and then when it closes the distance and starts hitting you you can switch to the pike and finish it off.

tka or fencer would be more for a ranged/melee/ect defense stack.

id go swordsman for the extra counter attack. But personaly i think you would live longer with healing skills you can use with a weapon your realy good at rather than split up your points on stuff you only use at best half the time. If your a master carbineer..why beat sompthing with a big stick?

I like to go with skills that help the other skills i have. Yeh the extra def is great and all and realy does make a big diffrence. Soon they will cap the stacking. So getting the complmentary skills to the def your chosen class has up to the cap is a good idea. And will probably save a few points for other things. The exception being tk because the meditate buff and cureing is extreamly usefull. The only other class that can boost themselves with no resorces is a jedi.

I'm currently working up Master Fencer, and am also at Master Carbineer. I'm not Defense Stacker tho, I just want to have some melee and ranged capabilities when fighting, preferably PvE with some low-level PvP thrown in. I like to have some flexible options to pick from when fighting, and being Master Carbineer/Master Fencer can do that for me. Sure, I can provide support with my soon to be fixed and/or nerfed Carbineer skills, but when support is obviously not helping, I can switch to Master Fencer and start kicking heads. And being able to add multiple states is cool too, heh. I can tack on a health bleed and blind with fencer, then switch to Carbineer for an action bleed, stun, and dizzy, as well as KD/posturechange.

i'd say tka over fencer if you had to pick one or the other. i also strongly advise picking up the 2 rifleman trees that give you melee and ranged defense in addition to tka. i wanted to do this myself, but i love bh carbine / master carbineer too much.

true.. but with swordsman it's a counterattack stack instead of just ranged/melee/ect defenses

I would become a swordsman. The mind hits are nice for certain PvE times and in PvP, and I just liked it overall when I experienced part of it briefly.

I'm going pikeman, I just love the idea of being a tank able to area KD both ranged and melee. I can't wait to finish my Armorsmith orders up, then start that trek. Not having something to grind gets boring...LOL

although I've wanted to do carbines for a while now I'm starting to think of basicly building a mele char with carbine as a ranged support profession. Every mele char needs a ranged profession TBH - cuts out their main weakness, and carbineer I think is the best choice as it lets you get close where you can use your mele skills.

Of course if someone with TKA above their head runs towards you you can just laught and do the opposite keeping them at range (and then just pawn them when they get in range and realise your ALSO a master fencer and dizzy KD doesnt work as well as they expected )

Personally i am a Ranger right now and i am considering dropping it to go with a Master Carbineer/Master Swordsman char. But i just like the idea of having a giant hammer, and the scythe looks cool. Not really sure of the class abilities, but i have heard Swordsman is uber in PvE, and i know from personal experience TKA's are a pain in the ass
