Thread: Stocked Carbines, a new trend?

I see many of my fellow ws only selling stocked carbines. I am a bit "old-school" when it comes to carbines and think that in most cases (at least for non.bh Carbineer) a non-stocked carbine is preferred. At least if you are not speed capped (which you only will be if you are BH/Carbineer in most cases).

A stocked carbine has a higher DPS but I think a carbineer should fire at high speed and laying down a bunch of state effects. Ok, that will not work against high-level targets anyway but many of those buying stocked only do it even forgrinding. Besides that it is much funnier to fire at a high rate :-).

Then complain about "I can not use my carbine unbuffed", well...

What is the general opinion now, should Carbineer use stocked only or un-stocked?

Can't really tell from sales statistics since people seem to prefer my patch day stocked carbines which have the same speed as a non-patch without stock lol

doc buffs negate all health and action cost and drinking 2 brandy and using 1 arihsta armored usually takes away the mind cost.

In the current state of the game 95% of the time you'll be buffed if hunting people. Often to such extremes where many people have 400 Health 400 Action and 1100 Mind so they can maximize the effectiveness of their being buffed 100% of the time.

At which point the whole idea is using FAS2 or Crippling shot exclusively [okay some Action Shot 1/2, occasionally Legshot2, FAA2, etc, but always a special].

thus the extra mind costs nobody cares about, but the benefits of a stock are without doubt.

I get all my rifles/carbines specially made with a stock and scope just for the cool look (you dont get the visual effects if the gun comes out of a crate)

Bermag,

I think the majority of carbineers have now gone BH/Carbineer and so those stocked/scoped lasers are really nice. Even better damage sliced

I do think this is an incredibly difficult problem with the upcoming limits because you ideally need to stock both stocked and non-stocked versions.

One the flip side, speed-sliced versions are awesome for non-speed capers and damage-sliced great for the cappers.

I am coming shopping at your store this weekend so break out the good stuff

Yes the HAM cost does not matter. But IMO firing slower is the important thing. Slower rate of fire=not as many state effects. Not that it matters for high-end content though. If you are speed capped no matter the weapon speed then stocked is the way to go under all circumstances.

Also if you use a Laser with that high damage spread I prefer being able to fire a second shot if I get a bad hit.

I have 13 Imp Stocks in the bank

I can't imagine not using those along with Scopes on all my Carbines......along with my 19 Krayt Tissue collecting dust

Speed and Accuracy are KING for a Carbineer. Each Carbineer should be custom ordering their Carbines to make their skill set.....obviously somebody leveling up in Carbines needs the fastest thing in the Galaxy.

Of course you should use form-fit stock (at leats if you are not speed capped) AND tissues on a carbine if you can afford it. I am talking about standard weapons here.

You would love my loot barrel I just bought with -1.4 speed! and +146! accuracy and30-40 more damage than a normal barrel

But still is a waste on carbines. With a FF stock and good tissues you will hit speed cap anyway. At least if you are capped with attachments

Nova, you are always welcome to shop. I am not sure if I have not got any new sliced carbines since your last visit though. What are you looking for? Could get a crate sliced.

I thinK i will also do some small stocks of accuracy modded carbines. Think some DH17 and some E11, not sure about the Laser though. Speed suck on the Laser so you would need to have 90 speed skill to fire at speed cap. But it might be useful against Jedis (even if Jedi block has nothing to do with accuracy, but might let you hit more often when kiting) for a BH/Carbineer with enough speed

Not looking for anything special though I am always on the lookout for nice DXR6s. Especially with stocks, scopes and damage-sliced. Always happy to pay a premium for high % damage slices.

I am not very convinced accuacy helps with landing the states but if you cannot hit you cannot land the states. Therefore, high accuracy helps land states but just not in the direct way many people think. If you are going to stock accuracy carbines, I'd recommend the enhanced E11 since it is a fast gun and you get the bonus of slapping a health bleed on the target while you are trying to apply whatever state you are after. One thing though, such carbines will clearly be a niche market. I'd buy them just for dealing with certain defense stacked templates (I prefer tg. I don't know if the average SWG player will understand. On the otherhand, those accuracy carbines will be awesome for leveling carbines since usually accuracy is a big problem. But again, not sure the average player will understand the subtilty.

The 3 guns I carry for PvP are that accuracy E11 you made me (its almost worn out of charges so I'll be in the market soon for another, especially damage-sliced , a stocked/scoped DXR6 with 192 min damage and a stock/scope laser you made with 423 max damage. If you can do better than these, I'll bring my check book

I use stocks, scopes, etc because they look good and make the gun very unique from everyone eles'. You get them at 1/1/1 or 0/0/0 HAM.

Wanted: Someone to go back in time with me...This is not a joke...You'll get paid after we get back. Must bring your own weapons...Safety is not Guranteed...I have only done this once before...

You realize that only you can see the stocks and scopes? Stocks and scopes only show up to the person holding the weapon.

There is a graphical bug.

They all have stocks and scopes too, you just cannot see them.

other people can see them. because i know i can see people who have stocks and scopes on their guns.

The one reasone why something might be stocked and scoped but you cant see them is factory made. When a gun is made in the factory the stocks and scopes are there but they arent visible. Only hand crafted guns show the stocks and scopes. Or at least this is what i was told by my guild weaponsmith.

Not entirely true.....I tested this just a couple weeks ago. The person I tested it with could see the stocks/scopes onceI traded it to him and then he gave it back, otherwise he couldn't see it.

As with most bugs and fixes from SOE, it is not 100% all the time so there are some cases where non-factory show and don't show.

BTW, my guns were Imp FF Stocks with crafted Adv. Scopes and Krayt Tissue.
