Is Carbineer still effective (in PvE and PvP, mostly PvE) without Bouny Hunter Carbines 4?

I think carbines would be great in PvP w/ BH carbs IV, if used properly.

Not really effective in PvP without BH mods, UNLESS:

a: you PvP in a group and stick to support behind the front line i.e laying states, cone/area attacks

b: Spend alot of time/credits capping with +25spd attachments- although you're also missing 55 accuracy

Once you get FireKD, Confusionshot and you can Cripple at speedcap it's very hard to it give up. I can't.

The word "effective" is very vague.....each person has their own opinion of "effective"....

I have never touched BH on either toon (except on TC2) and I compete as well or better than a Carbineer w/BH Carbs. Of course it takes SEA's and tons of credits to get the appropriate gear and even then a BH can have a higher damage weapon still speed cap.....but it works for me

WIthout BH carbs, you should focus on the speed and accuracy modifiers before the damage modifiers. With a 1.7 speed +70 idea range (i think) laser carbine, I do fine at pvp with my carbine.

Personally, if you're good and have the right stuff, Carbineer w/o BH is better. You could invest in capping ranged/melee defense like TAFirehawk who has the best template IMO. Wildshot + Fullauto is nearly as good as confusion/sprayshot.I love BH for other reasons though. I love hunting jedi and I love having options. I'm certified for so many weapons its nuts. I'm offensivly as powerful as a Master Carbineer and probably more effective with pistols than a master pistoleer w/o BH, offensivly of course.

And to be CLEAR, my template is one of the best around because of the multi-millions I have put into SEA's and Weapons.....very few people in ANY prof have put the kind of money I have into combat and I am still not UBER, but damn near

It is sad when it takes this much extra work for Carbineer to be an ELITE combat prof....but as the Devs have said, the Melee profs will be getting "theirs" eventually, just not soon enough in my book (and throw Rifleman in there too).

BTW, I am playing with two different templates, complete is Carbineer/Fencer/Pistoleer/Medic/Scout and just starting on Carbineer/Fencer/Pistoleer/TKA.

Back when I was Master Carbineer, Master Fencer, and 4004 TKA I was VERY effective in PvP. My biggest downfall was that all my SEAs were on stun VULNERABLE composite. As we all know, PvP without stun armor is allmost suicide these days with Goe blasters, stun buttons, and Jawa ion rifles. Though I was hard to hit, I wasn't as tough as someone with those defenses AND stun armor. Also, on my server, we do a LOT of clone camping. Personally, once both sides are practiaclly without buffs, it is very fun. The problem was that without buffs, I coulnd't really wear all my armor and expect to get more than 2 shots off without killing myself 1st. Without my armor, I had lost much of my carbine speed, and thus was not very effective. I decided I must find a way to be effective with a carbine while unbuffed. My solution was Bounty Hunter.

Do I like BH/Carbineer better that Carbineer/Melee? Yes and no. Ilove the fact that I don't need armor to speed cap. I love the fact that I have a LOT more accuracy. I love the fact that with one tree in BH and one tree in pistoleer, I'm pretty darn effective with a pistol, thus expanding my ranged arsenal. I miss the fact that used to be able to intimidate my foe (HOPEFULLY addressed with our next submission of our top 5 issues). I miss being able to last a lot longer in a battle due to my insane defenses. I miss having melee mitigation. I miss having meditate (both for wound healing and power boost).

All in all, there are many pros and cons for both of those templates. I can't really say one is better than the other, as they are two totally diferent monsters. If I'm still around for the combat revamp, I see myself playing with my current template for a bit, then going back to the ranged/melle template and recomparing them. The only thing that would get me back to my old carb/fencer template right now would be if I could get +25 worth of speed SEAs that I could have with just a shirt, bandolier, composite gloves and helmet on (and maybe a chest plate).

They're adding condition to Ubese shirts, /cry. My +25 Carbine Acc Shirt is gonna die someday . I think I'll bank it for awhile then...

Do what I do with my "special" armor and decayables... Always make sure they are insured. In PvP, they won't decay if they are insured when you die (unless it's a 3 incapp death ).For PvE, get a few droids with item storage modules. When I do PvE, I put all my precious decayables in the droids. That way, if I die, they do not decay, and they are always with me incase I need them.
