What am I doing wrong? Some help plz.

Well recently I got a holo that said Carbineer and I said to myself; well not so bad I guess. However I shortly discovered afterward that I am a really horrible Carbineer I guess. I cant seem to figure out this class at all. I cant seem to damage anything and only seem to irritate the things I am trying to kill.

Its like being One-handed but only being able to use a Stone Knife the whole time! I cant seem to find a weapon that does any damage at all and I cant stand toe to toe with anything as everything damages me more than I can damage them.

I did read some other threads on this forum and maybe it is the fact that Carbineer’s don’t have a lot of weapons to use or choices but neither do other classes, so I don’t know if that is the issue. I just know from what I have seen in the past 3 days of being a Carbineer this HOLO is going to take a really, really long time. That is unless someone can tell me what I am doing wrong. As I look through the skill tree the actual skills and to hits look really good its just getting the xp to get those skills that seems to be the real issue. Its getting over the HUMP that seems to be the problem.

How do I get damage out of any of these lame weapons. The damage seems to be equivalent to a Junk Scout Blaster but with a Bad rifles speed. I have actually done a side by side comparison of a junk Scout Blaster and the Best Carb I could find killing the same type of critters and time and time again the Junk pistol with a lower to hit kill quicker and faster than any Carb I can find, pull damage out of and manipulate with the Carbineer skills.

I mean Master Carbineer looks really good but this is just a HOLO. You know, a stepping stone to JEDI! I don’t want to be a MASTER CARBINEER FOREVER just get the HOLO done, if you know what I mean.

Question is how do I gain XP in this class? In most other classes it’s the Combat Xp that is the issue but actually I have more Combat xp than Carb xp at this point. Currently this is my GOAL for Carbineer: 0-4-0-4, as I think this will provide the best chance of success and xp gain with all those plusses to hit, and currently this is my actual skill: 0-0-0-3.

0-0-0-3 was my skill when I started Carbineer three days ago as I had extra combat xp saved up. I don’t know what to do as I just cant seem to kill anything and actually kill things quicker with a stone knife, or pistol (with lesser skill) than a carb (tested).

All the carbs just seem to be Very Low Damage and Very Slow Speed! Like I said above I don’t want to be a Master Carbineer forever I just want to get it done. Question is how do you do it with lame weapons like these? Its not like the Carbineer get a Particle Cannon or get a bonus of 170 points on damage like other classes or even defensive points.

What is the key to this class?

Use FullAutoSingle2 as that is even my main shot at MASTER, but you get it at NOVICE. BurstShot1 is another great shot to get. Try to get uber armor or better yet get a pet to tank for you. If you are not a CH, find one that will befriend a pet to you. Befriend isn't talked about much, but that is how I finished off Carbineer - I had an army of 4-6 pets following me around

Oh did I mention you need doc buffs and brandy?

With 0-0-0-3 you should already have ChargeShot1 which has a knockdown. Together with FullautoSingle (being a damage dealing shot) you should be able to kill things okay. Doc Buffs and Brandy are indeed required though.

And I don't know what kind of damage numbers you are used to, but with my stocked laser carbine that is in no way very well crafted, I'd say it is an average quality weapon, I easily do 2500+ damage on pikets (and they have 20% energy resists). That is not so bad, is it? So maybe you really have crap weapons?

In addition to the above replies.... don't forget to add "power ups" to your weapons. The help in the beginning stages as well.

Get x/x/1/x as soon as you can... Burst Shot seems to do alot more damage than the novice shot IMO.

Then go for the first tree to increase your speed. 4/x/1/x

And yes, Dantooine and Savage Quenkers and Vasarian Brandy and Buffs help a whole lot. SQ don't deathblow... but watch out for hortons and other DBing mobs.

FullAutoSingle2 is the highest DPS shot until you hit the Cap. It is about 8% better than BurstShot1 and CrippleShot. The reason BurstShot1 is recommended is the lesser HAM cost.

Don't forget about accuracy, I recommend 111X then 311X (maybe even 221X)and finally 341X before hitting Master.

Well those of us that have learned to play with tactics as Master Carbineers can be quite effective, just depends on what you fight and how. I dominate a Master Pistoleer in PvE....now PvP is another story....

2500 points in ONE shot???

Dang, I am having problems with Quenkers even getting a 6-700 point hit in. I tried for 3 days to get to novice Carbineer, and finally said &$%^% it. I am like the original poster, I have the best carbines I can buy, or at least could find, I use min/max powerups, Vasarian Brandy, and that food one for mine V..something.. Canape. At least my mind NEVER drops, hehe. I also have Doc buffs, so i am loaded for bear, but feel as though I am hunting that bear with a freakin BB gun.

Can someone post what their weapons max/min damage are so I can see whether I am being stupid, and got crap for weapons? I can post mine when I get home after work and you can laugh at them then. LOL

My Krayt Carbines.....

Laser - 3.3 54/399

DXR6 - 4.0 190/309

DH17 Snub - 2.0 98/331

Don't have stats on my regular ones but a Laser runs about 3.5 50/280 I believe.

im 0203 atm and i havent noticed any of the problems hitting or dealing damage that others here are talking about. i sic my pets onto a critter to keep it at optimum range then chargeshot1, fullautosingle2, fullautosingle2 (make a macro /aim /chargeshot1....ect). rince and repeat once or twice and its dead. im currently hunting hurrton stalkers/savage quenkers on dantooine and killing anything else i stumble across on my way to and from the missions.

being a high level ch is a great big help leveling, however you dont really need a pet to keep the critters at optimum range. remember your roots in marksman. the ranged support tree has some great specials that can help you keep the critters off your butt. use them. try to pull one critter at a time using your bleeds, then peace and run a short distance away, when the bleed hits for the first time the critter (and only that critter) will agro you and come to you, hit it with a warningshot and then fullauto until it charges again. make another macro /aim /warningshot and put it nexto to your knockdown macro. and for gods sake kneel (youWILL hit more)unless its absolutely necessary for you to stand and run (or to apply a chargeshot) the specials you need are right there in front of you. use them. carbine isnt as broke as everyone seems to think it is. buy crates ofpowerups, rychcake, brandy and use them vigoriously. have a couple maun golds/pixies handy for emergency situations. grab a set of doc buffs and if your not a wookiee get a decent set of armor to don when the critters make it to you. make and use anarmor macro, and dont wear your armor while your fighting unless your being used as a chew toy, you wont use as much ham that way.

Thanks for your replies. I kept hearing this class was broke or something and I actually figured it was just n00bz not actually wanting to work on a class that was a little be harder. However, I have myself not done Pistol yet, so I cannot make a comparison as to which if its broken or not. But… Honestly I have not see the words DODGE, Counter attack, Miss so much above the enemy’s Icon until I clicked Carbineer!

Alls I know is I’m falling asleep on my missions they take so long! I got through a power-up killing one critter so Power-Ups are not even a viable option. Currently I am 0-2-0-2 and will make 0-3-0-3 today, but only after I put in A LOT of time and had already had over 200k in Combat xp before I took the class. This is taking more time than any other class to date I have had too.

I can gain the xp, but its almost at an unbelievably low rate. Its almost one new skill per day (and that is one of my days which can range for 8-12 hours). I’m having to stand before a critter so long I have actually noticed an ARMOR LEAK where I am hit for some reason and my armor is not being calculated. Currently believe this is the forearm, but really have no clue.

Some of the real issues I am having with this class is the fact I keep missing the target. Like I said above, dodge, counter attack, miss, miss, miss. I am missing the target with a higher skill than anything else I currently have yet don’t miss this much with the lower skills I currently have. (shrugs)- I will (try to) grind 350k today getting my skill up to Expert Carbine Marksmanship and see if that makes a big difference. If not, I do think I will actually have to start complaining about this….. Maybe a HOTFIX is needed or something.

Then again maybe all that is needed is getting over the hump and actually getting some skills in this class. I sure hope Expert Carbine Marksmanship works, because a lot of people who play this game do not have the skills or patents I have to stand around and play for hours at a time (testing, experimenting and learning the game, rules and techniques) as I do.

Looks like a beta test foul-up to me with the TO HITS. I am not wanting to ONE-HIT things in the game with a Carb, but I am wanting to HIT THEM with some type of consistency (which is why I’m running up the Marksmanship tree only). I am hoping to see some marked improvement after I hit Expert Carbine Marksmanship. Just a little something Odd with this class when it takes ME a full day to gain one skill.

Well on the bright side, least I know why all the AI Troopers and Rebels are so lame, because they are all using some type of Carbine. LOL.

In case you have not figured out this class yet, here is a helpful tip; PvE melee defense. Get as much of it as you can as you are going to be standing in front of them critters for a very long time before you can actually kill them. You’ll be lucky if you get a hit for 150-500 and then you will spread you hits out among the three (H A M) almost evenly and miss about half the time to boot.

This is not a good class so far Devs. Something is not right here, not when Carbine III hits about the same as Advanced Carbine Marksmanship. Maybe there is a bug it the TO HIT calculations or something! Just know Rifleman are not missing this much Point Blank with a -70 rifle and a lower skill level (tested).

I will be looking for some Marked Improvements with Expert Carbine Marksmanship today, otherwise I will have to start Ranting LOL.

Thanks for the replies ALL.

PvE is cake, get a pet.

Or get 75% Ubese or higher Comp with buffs and little can stand in your way. Carbineer is not that bad once you have the right setup. Complaint is that most other professions don't have to go through so much trouble just to functioin, but when they have uber armor and buffs it just puts them that many levels above us.
