Thread: What's the point of our profession?

I can't kill a stormtrooper to save my life. I really hope this "combat overhaul" includes a severe re-working of this class. Sorry but I figured "Star-Wars = carbine good" - but no, it's the weapons that I NEVER saw in the movies are the ones that do any damage worth doing: lightning guns and flame-throwers! Of course!!


Sorry just had to rant. I got tired of attaining skillboxes not affecting my dmg capability. Carbine SUCKS!!!!!!

the point of our profession? why to be cannon fodder. So BH's and pistoleers can take the glory while we run back from the cloning center.

You guys need to learn how to play this game.
You can get a freaking stock carbine that will do over 500+ damage if sliced and powered up.
You have a knockdown shot and an AoE knockdown shot with no delays on it.
Quite crying and learn how to play.

I had a good laugh at that point. That's a newbie. What's the point of our prof? We get to die in style. So everybody quite crying, before we make mokai crye too.

I guess no one told him that chargeshot 1 is bugged or that chargeshot 2 has never worked. A carbine that is sliced and powered for damage may be in the 400-500 range for maximum damage but has a minimum damage of around 50 and a 3.7 sec delay. Looks good on paper, but take it to the force crytal cave and see what it looks like in competition with weapons that actually do significant damage over time and you will see the real story. At master level I have seen first hand the truth of the situation, and inmost situations carbines are sub-par. Deuling one on one the KD makes the carbines lethal, but I would trade that bug for a real working class in a heartbeat.

Originally our main function was crowd control. We lost that due to the abuse of KDs/PCs and now we have no real niche. Anything we can do another class can do, and probably better. (Not including the CS1 bug). We won't have a function until they finish with rebalancing, which promises to be a matter of several months at least.

My god this one is funny on so many different levels. Where do I begin?


Lets see...stock carbines kill HAM about 2x as fast...


....you know saying "over 500 dmg" is the same as "500+", right?


AE knockdown has never worked once....and where the heck do you get this no delay stuff?

I happen to agree with "You guys need to learn how to play this game."

I have been a master carbineer before, i dropped it since a holo said to master pistoleer. Now i am working back up carbineer as a i take a break from doing a holocron profession and I want to get back into PvP. As a master carbineer, even before we got some patched in defenses, I was taking down many people in PvP, the supposed best also Bh's with some pistoleer and CH, commandos , master pistoleers etc etc. The HAM costs are not good that is true but how hard is it to find a doctor to buff you or how hard is it to buy food and use it in a tactical way. I used charge shot and crippling shot mostly and that got me out of every situation. The key is that you HAVE to use armor, or at least in my case. We dont have huge dodge bonuses, unless things have changed since i was a master carbineer before, so armor is almost a necessity. 60%+ protection from stuff gives you a lot of leeway for fighting. I have been a master pistoleer, not a BH or commando, and I am still coming back to carbineer. Some may call me stupid but when i can hit something for 3k-5k witha laser carbine as a master there is definately something good about this profession.

And also to the person stating that the FS caves are pointless even as a master carbineer....

I have looted two holocrons and both were in the packed imperial base outside lake retreat. I was there with master rifleman, pistoleers, bh's etc etc and me as a master carbineer was getting almost all of the loots. I go by my in-game experiences and not by what other people say. I was watching the damage and I was doing more than anyone there. I know its not the best comparison since everyone looks on paper, I look in-game at how I perform against others and I see nothing wrong with that performance. SUre it will be very nice to have more working specials but when i was a master pistoleer i only noticed myself using 2 shots also.

Lol - what a genious - what you think yo couldn't outdamage an AT ST? - Plz, they're just there as a tank. Master pistoleer/rifleman and whatevever your group was will outdmg anyone with 3 AT ST's.
