Thread: MBH?? What the Advantage?

With the stripping of Trapping, Hunting, and Survival from BHer the Jedi Hunting community has many paths now opened before it. Many in the Carb community including Nova are wanting to pick up MBHer to compliment Master Carb. I fail to see the advantage of mastering Bounty Hunter when I can go 3400 BHer which gives me all the investigation I need and the speed cap for my carbines. ((By the way the only way you're really gonna find Jedi is if you have a spotter tracking the Jedi not a droid.)) Now while some people have mastered Bounty Hunter I will have dabbled into Pistoleer 0044 picking up tons of state defenses and Melee (not sure if the Melee is worth it or I should get Stim C's). I find that the LLC is useless in PvP (I can barely hit fencers with 190 acc and Snow cake), for a higher damage mod and blind sprayshot it not worth it, and I wipe the floor with eyeshot spammers. Here are the templates I am considering. I would like to know some of the templates you are considering and your opinion on my choices.

This will be an interesting template.

Master Marks 77 pts

Exploration 29 pts

Master Carb 63 pts

Pistoleer 0044 34 pts

BHer 3400 32 pts

Medic 15 pts

Total 250

Or Pistol 0040

Medic 0004

Post revamp this will be deadly, and since we're getting a special bar my template will have one of the best (i'm calling it mana) mana bar efficiencies.

MBH isn't worth it IMO to complement Mcarbs. All you get in the MBH box is +10 accuracy and sprayshot, FAS2 on some major steroids. Sprayshot is arguably the best carbine special in the game, but it is only marginally better than confusion shot and not worth the skill points.

Well, there are some occasions when LLC is very nice (IE DWB and Corvette), and you can use the extra SP in pistoleer which comes in handy sometimes. Going Mcarbineer MBH Pistoleer 0030 is very versitile. You pretty much have all you need pistoleer (A little lower accuracy), everything possible carbineer, and LLC. Versitlity is the key. Doc/Rifleman healing your damage and states? Switch to geo pistol and eyeshot. Melee stacker making you angry? Switch to Carbines with 200 accuracy and load them up with states with sprayshot. LLC is pretty much useless in PvP though, but I've outdamage riflemen with it in the merc room.

Please remember that not everyone min/maxes the perfect PvP template. Quite the contrary, most players have zero interest in PvP at all.

I have a great interest in playing an Antarian Ranger. If you read a bit about these guys, they were non-Jedi that helped Jedi. My plan is to go Master Bounty Hunter for role-playing reasons and because it will enhance my Master Carbineer. I will seek out role-playing Light Jedi and use my Bounty Hunter skills to track down Dark Jedi for the Light Jedi to try to eliminate. Of course, I will help the best I can.

I have always had this type of vision for my character but because jedi were so rare and fragile and BH was not worth it, I was never able to pull this vision off. Now I can so I am happy.

The LLC is very nice, as it gives us a new damage type to tinker with. The Pistol skills are nice, especially Eyeshot, if you can plan your weapon swap a few seconds out, you can Scatter/FullAuto to start, then swap out a Pistol for an Eyeshot finish if their Blue Bar starts to shrink.

I guess you could say that BH opens up some new flexibility in our weapon selection, we don't need to sacrifice damage for speed and now won't have to give up massive amounts of SP flexibility, and it gives us some finishing moves that Carbineer itself is somewhat lacking in.

The Template doesn't work anyways. You need to be also a Master Scout along with Master Marskman to become a BH, so you would only be able to get Master Carbineer and BH 3400, then you would have 1 skill point left. So this would leave out medic and pistoleer.

Still, not a totally bad template now, but it'll be without a few of the key components.

Nova what you're speaking of IS THE PROBLEM! No one wants to PvP, and when the devs figure out that it's no fun and the playing field isn't level for the average player they might take steps to fix that.

That really isn't a balance issue though lack of balance will drive some players away. What makes most players not interested in PvP is the attitude of most PvPers. They are typically childish and immature (the term "pwned" was not invented by a role-player...) even if they are grown adults. They grief other players whenever they can (triple incapping, feign death griefing, clone camping, etc). They travel in huge packs, kill 1 lone overt in 10 seconds and then ramble on bragging about their "skillz." They harass and verbally abuse all those who do not want to go overt and PvP. Etc...Etc...Etc...Need I say more?

If the Devs waved a magic wand and had a perfectly balanced game tomorrow, there would still be all of the above issues and those are what drives players from PvPing.

Asa MBH and Carb dabbler myself, I will point out a few things.

1. The speed increase that BHbrings are significant and will easily put any MCarb above the speed cap.

2. Sprayshot is definitely the best carb special in the game. And I would easily argue that its the best stand-alone special in the game. Period. Its really the one thing that MBH's have left.

3. I personally dislike and am against the proposed SP reduction for BH's. However, a MBH/Mcarb would be quite deadly at controlling someone in PvP. That being said, if you were to miss your shots, or the states/kd didn't stick you'd be a dead man b/c of the lack of defenses. All or nothing, and thats why I'd like it.
