Here is a quick look at the numbers vs. a 24% Engery 44% Base Imperial PSG, 80% Base 40% Stun Layered Composite doing damage from some various weapons taken from stettin's weapon list which is linked in the FAQ.

Hope this helps all of you prepare for and against the different damage types and above all notice that stun damage really isn't all the superior when used against a prepared combatant.
And last but not least armour is one of the many factors you need to consider when factoring damage. Other factors such as Damage Mitigation, Toughness and Food Like Synthsteak and Unarmed Damage also play a part in this determination.
*-these are special loot weapon's which were not contained on stettin's list, stats are assumed to be average and like always may vary galaxy to galaxy, but in the end the stats of the weapon used will NOT change the effective resistance of the armour setup.

Nice work wilibus
Only other thing to complete the calcs would be the inclusion of the most damaging Special.....as I believe some profs get a bigger boost than others.

just a question: when they hit you with an AP0 weapon, while wearing armor AND psg, does the 50% ap0 vs ar1 reduction only count for the psg? in your calcs for the stun baton you only substract 40% from 40% stun armor

Nice post, but you only calculated the AP vs. AR for either the psg or the composite... are you sure that it works like this?I allways thought AP vs. AR comes into play twice when you wear both psg and armor.

I will have to admit that I haven't tested this, but the AP/AR calculation should only be happening once......if it does work twice then IMO that is a clear bug. So if anybody has some HARD FACTS from LIVE testing they want me to pass along in the Corr Forum, feel free to post or PM me the info ![]()

excuse me for being in the dark a bit, but i though the AP calculations weren't really working at the moment as they were suppose to. Is AP2 truly giving the dmg bonus against comp? It seems I still do more damage with my 228 dmg Dx6 then I do with my 554 dmg Lazer. I will do more tests but was just curious about the functioning of the Ap calculations.

Very simple test, I am pretty sure we would have heard the fencer sreaming from here if they got hit with this 50% AP0 vs. AR1 more than once. That would mean the get hit with 50% from the PSG, then 50% again from the armour, then 44% PSG, then 40% ARmour leaving stun batons having to go through about 92% Mitigation on even the most basic of composite setups. And this is obviously not the case, or the fencers are seriously not paying attention.

AP/AR has been working for a VERY LONG time....and continues to work.

What you are probably refering to is all the jedi complaining about not getting the damage boost from Medium AP since lightsaber is on the vunl list on armour. That isn't clear whether it is intended or bugged.

No offense but I don't listen to Jedi cries LOL
Nah I was just mistaken on the AP calculations.

As far as I know AP vs AR works like this:
AP0 weapon versus AR1 armor = 0.75 damage multiplier (or a 25% damage reduction)
AP0 weapon versus AR2 armor = 0.75*0.75 = 0.525 (47.5% damage reduction)
AP1 weapon versus AR1 armor = damage is not affected.
AP2 weapon versus AR1 armor = 1.25 damage multiplier (damage boosted by 25%, for example the laser carbine)
AP3 weapon versus AR1 armor = 1.25*1.25 = 1.5625 (56.25% damage boost, this would be the case of the T21)
So the stun batons only get a 25% damage reduction from the AP1 of the composite/PSG.
HOWEVER, I've tested this several times, wearing a PSG and a stun layered composite, the stun protection effectiveness will be the PSG resistance + the composite resistance (47% + 40% ~ 87% stun effectiveness). I'm not sure if it's really being added, since the PSG resistance drops quite fast, but it's getting a big boost for sure.
For example, a fencer that can hit an NPC for 3000 damage (the NPC standing, not knocked down), that same hit in pvp would be:
75% damage reduction for pvp = 750
AP0 vs AR 1 (25% dam reduction) = 562.5
* (Only a PSG is being used) 47% reduction = 298
* (Only a 40% stun composite is being used) 40% reduction = 337.5
* (PSG + stun composite) not sure how it works, but it really makes a difference
The damage can be decreased even more if you include stun and intimidate states, and melee toughness/mitigation
*Edit* I believe AP0 vs AR1 is a 25% reduction, but I haven't tested it myself to be honest.
*Edit2* Actually, I've checked a couple of damage calculators and they seem to agree in a 50% reduction against AR1
So... more numbers, same example:
75% damage reduction for pvp = 750
AP0 vs AR 1 (50% dam reduction) = 375
* (Only a PSG is being used) 47% reduction = 198.75
* (Only a 40% stun composite is being used) 40% reduction = 225
* (PSG + stun composite) not sure how it works, but it really makes a difference
Plus states like stun/intimidate and melee migitation
