Nice gun.

While damage is not capped, it's still very good. And the low SAC allows you to do a good deal of damage for quite some time. I would guess that it can hold it's ground on PvP.

I agree, it is a nice gun.But I have a question - everybody insists on low SAC, I have carbine with DPS 366 and high SAC 120. With speed pup, my moded DPS is 899 and any person who dueled me since I got the weapon, lost in short time. I dueled MBHS/MDOCS, pistoliers, melee... even a jedi(must have been padawan with very little skill). I do not even have to use any specials, Ranged shot does all the work. Why should i spam specials when I deliver higher damage over chosen period of time with Ranged shot?

First, DPS is a bit misleading and doesn't really tell much.

Second, each special group has it's own cooldowntimer so you would prolly deal more damage mixing Ranged Shot and some specials.

Yes. I know all these things, but I only wanted to poit out that with high speed and caped damage, you can do very well in PvPusing even thebase ranged shot. Even with high SAC - using well placed specials will only increase your power. I do not agree with ppl saying YUCK, high SAC.. unusable..

That's mostly because most people use specials and some only use specials in PvP so it eats their action.

And now speed doesn't have as much meaning because of the cooldown timers, even with Ranged Shot only.

But I guess it all depends on the playstyle.

Because you would likely do much higherdamage over time if the SAC on your carbine, properly p'upped, was low enough to allow you to spam specials.

Here's a quick test I did...

Junk carbine #1 is346-799 @ 2.27, base dps 252. Powered up with an SAC p'up to allow special spamming.

Junk carbine #2 is 432-885 @ 2.21, base dps 298. Then powered up with a speed p'up for max dps with Ranged shot, bringing the speed down to 1.65 seconds, and base dps up to 410.45

I use Junk carbine #1 to alternately spam legshot and critical shot. 30 shots x 501 damage each = 15030 damage / 84 seconds elapsed time = 178.93 dps

I use Junk carbine #2 and let Ranged shot do its thing. 30 shots x 301 damage each = 9030 damage / 82 seconds elapsed time = 110.12 dps

Junk carbine #1 has a much lower base dps than carbine #2, yet does 62% higher damage over time thanks to an SAC that allows using high-multiplier attacks constantly.

I would rather have a 300 dps carbine with 85 SAC than a 380 dps one with 120 SAC.

Yes the max damage fast who cares about sac is good in one on one pvp. But if the guy your fighting can last a little wile (there are dozzens of ways to do so...high % damage food for starters) you will run out of sac i gurrintee it....then your dead. If you use that in group pvp again your not going to hold out if your opening goes bust. If you went on a hunt for high end mobs like krytes with 100+ action...You would be out before the fight ends even with action food and buffs and just using low sac default auto fire with a weak .7 damage modifier or sompthing

With a low sac weapon you can shoot for ever using your high end 1.5+ damage modifier attacks and faster because your alternating. Its good to have an all out damage weapon and i have one as well i carry...I put a low sac pup on it because i dont like the way max damage pups kill the speed....Its all about play style though :0)

I killed dozens and dozens of krayts using ranged shot with moded DPS 899, there is no need to even use specials in PvE with my wpn, only snare and kd from time to time.

Agreed, it heavily depends on playstyle.

Ok first things first.. This gun in question i made.... It is an awesome gun and if used correctly it will and does kill anything in its path.

Second, I have seen michal take care of many a dragon/GDK/DJ.. what ever.

Third: Speed does effect the cooldown timers.. Your combat logs will not reflect this as it doesnt go into tenths of a second which a guns speed is calculated in.. If you watch a prolonged fight you would c the difference between a 1.9s Carbine and a 1.8s Carbine.

SAC is not be all end all. You should not have to spam Specials all day long to win a fight.. U need to watchtime ur attack correctly..

Thanks Atham
