I used the character builder at swgbounties.com to build a few Carbineer builds with BH to see what happens. As players achieve them over the next week, please come in and comment on them. For now, we can discuss them. I broke down the offense and defense for a bunch of what I consider to be some of the most solid variations. I threw in a Pistoleer-based build at the end because it is pretty solid as well and might be tempting to someone who wasn't tied to carbines. Please note there are 2 versions of Fencer and Carbineer. Pay attention to the subtilties.

All of these builds are pretty damn solid. I am curious which ones will work out better.

Hmm, I was toying around with that as well and found a decent looking one that works off of what I have currently:

Master Carbineer/BH 0400/Medic 1000/Creature Handler 2111
+115 Carbine Speed
+190 Carbine Accuracy
+30 Carbine Accuracy While Moving
+25 Carbine Aiming
+2 Melee Defense
+25 Defense vs Intimidate
+15 Defense vs Knockdown
+22 Max number of pet levels

Advantages
Great speed and accuracy with carbines
All carbine specials but sprayshot from BH trees
Use of Stim B's
Up to a level 22 pet to tank with

Disadvantages
Low defenses

Basically, this can be a competent layout for PVE, assuming you can find a good Bio-Engineer to make you a CL22 pet that's any good for tanking (I've got a CL22 Gurreck which is 8k HAM and 60% kinetic, 340-360 damage, dizzy strike and strong poison for its specials). Besides that, you can do monstrous damage to groups of stuff with the speedcapped carbines, and good cone knockdowns and attacks (Chargeshot2 and Fullautoarea2). If something were to get past your pet, you have a bit of a problem unless you're wearing nice armor, but even then, you should most definitely be able to hold your own while buffed. This is the layout that I'm going for, and am mostly on my way to, having 4312 Carbineer, 2111 CH, 0022 Marksman, and 3310 Medic. I dont progress very quickly, but whenever I get the majority of this fixed up, I'll try and fill you guys in on how well it goes.

hmm well you could go for pistoleer and get novice medic if you have enough SP and have a doc make you a nice large crate of Stim Bs with 30 charges each adn 300-400 each charge

I like ranged combat, and I dont want to handle close up melee with my bounty hunter, so I am aiming for this build:

Master bounty hunter / Master pistoleer / 0030 Carbineer

Melee Defense +47
Ranged Defense +29

General Ranged Aiming +30

+165 Pistol Accuracy
+30 Pistol Accuracy While Moving
+15 Pistol Accuracy While Standing
+16 Pistol Aiming
+129 Pistol Speed

+125 Carbine Accuracy
+85 Carbine Speed
+60 Counterattack
+40 Defense vs Blind
+40 Defense vs Dizzy
+25 Defense vs Intimidate
+65 Defense vs Knockdown
+20 Defense vs Posture Change
+40 Defense vs Stun
+105 Dodge

Ranged Mitigation 3

Advantages:
Good speed and accuracy with pistols
Adequate defenses
Adequate defenses vs states
Fastblast and Sprayshot specials
Can target mind

Disadvantages:
Not Very High in defenses or state defenses
More of a general purpose combat than a PvP killer configuration

I went to swgbounties.com and tried these configurations on the character builder, and it shows up that I would have -50 skill points if I used some of the configurations you recommended.

Remember to delete the trapping, hunting and camping lines from scout. They are no longer prereqs.

I think I am going to try M Carbineer/ BH 3400/ Pistols 0040/ Medic 0040

I did this last night on swgcenter so Im not going to check back for exact defenses, etc. but this will allow me to use stim D's or Es, have some decent defense vs. stuff, and have plenty of accuracy/speed and all the carbineer specials

Here's one for ya (that I am working towards):

MBH - Carb 3/4/4/4 - Pistoleer 0/0/4/0

Carbine Acc: 180

Carbin Acc while moving: 20

Carbine Speed: 100

Def vs Blind: 40

Def vs Dizzy: 40

Def vs Knockdown: 65

Def vs Intim: 25

Dev vs Post Down: 20

Def vs Stun: 40

Melee Def: 2 (ick)

Ranged Def: 24

Counterattack: 80

Pistol Speed: 85

Pistol Accuracy: 125

I could give up the top box of the pistoleer line for master carb, but the only really useful thing I would get would be ranged def and a little more counterattack. The +50 knockdown def from that top box of pistoleer is much more useful, imho.

I plan on using carbs most of the time, and using pistols (stupid weapon switch delay) only when necessary.

I'm actually going MBH with some Carbineer. >.<

Hi Nova btw.

What worries me is they said speed is changing big time during the CB...anything now will be moot then

But you can NEVER go wrong with BH/Carbineer...but everyone is picking up BH now, Melee BH!

FWIW, you have your CH setup all wrong. You are best off going straight up the trees because you get more creature levels for your skill points. The 4th box in the tree gives most skill levels (4 pet levels)while costing only 2 points. The bottom box gives the least (2 pet levels) and costs 5 points. Your current build spends 24 points and adds 11 levels over novice. Going 1400 will cost you 22 points get you 14 pet levels over novice plus tons of stored pets. If you can scrounge 1 more point so that you can spend 25 points, you can go 2400 and have 17 points over novice.

Going up the 0x00 is your best bet because it will allow you to store many different kinds of pets.

Thanks for the tip, Nova. I started getting CH before the layout change which is why it looks the way it does, so that's why I based the current layout on that, but yeah, I will end up changing it when I can.
