Thread: Carbineer- Underated in Pvp?

About 3 months ago I was thinking about becoming a carbineer, but after trying it out for a while, I was wondering if carbineer is really bad in pvp or if I wasn't useing the fight tactics. Seeing how it has no stun (the ultimum in pvp nowadays), dots aren't common, and it does't produce and extremely high damage output, I don't understand how anyone would want to use it in pvp. During beta testing for JTL, I got my chance with the frogs to try carbineer. With a krayt laser rifle (it was 175-791 or something like that) I was very dissapointed to see that the damage going through the armor was around 8-9. So is there a place in pvp for carbineer, or is it a totally pve profession? (kinda like commando )

After posting this message I noticed the other 100 posts regarding similar information. Sorry for the 100th post on this issue

everyone has their views on carbineer. i see it as a great profession, just not one you'd go around soloing all the mobs with or PvPing solo.

cripplingshot has the same damage mod as strafe2 in rifleman. carbineer has insane (and i mean insane) DPS with the right weapons... I saw some guy with a base dxr6 hit a melee stacker for over 1k (before armor) consistently in PvP. That's vicious.

But then his 90% armor blocks 90% of the damage! his Migration 3 turns 10% into 4% and his buffs quickly regenerate over the 15 points of damage

1000 damage on the combat tab is already mitigated, and 90% armor makes it 100. Not uber but not horrible either.

Because Carbineer does not do anywhere near the top of the line DPS in PvP, I consider it critical to be a Carbineer/Fencer/Pistoleer Defense Stacker. Add top of the line Comp/PSG/Buff/Food/Weapons and most duels you can get a draw on.....

But trust me, the whole landscape is changing in this area in the CU....it just isn't getting here fast enough

I can't stress this enough. BH/Carbineer is a great combo, but it simply doesn't cut it.Carbineer is underrated, but with a lot of time (credits) and preparation, it rocks.

Raw defense stackers also suffer from the same damage problems we do. In fact, any PvPer is able to make themselves IMPOSSIBLE to kill unless your opponent uses DoTs.. it's as simple as 85% effectiveness armor, a PSG, synthsteak and buffs. Add a lot of defenses to that, and nothing will take you out. Nothing.

It doesn't matter if you're a Carbineer, a Pistoleer, or even an Image Designer. When it comes to damage, all professions can effectively be nullified, it just so happens that ours doesn't take much effort.

PvP is unfortunately a game of DoTs and defenses, not damage. If you can cover the defenses part, you're guaranteed to succeed, whether you're a Carbineer or not. Our profession is merely one of taste and convenience.. we prefer states and posture changes over raw DPS, both of which are often more effective.

i just play a role when i PvP. i apply my states with dot carbines and target CMs since they have nil defenses people think riflemen are sooo overpowered but they suck if they dont have KD defence i might not be able to dish out extreme amount of damage but i can incapacitate people while my group kills and i can do a good amount of damage myself

If you are group fighting and as a Carbineer you are allowed to hover in the rear and lay down a supressive fire, you can deal serious damage and apply every state worth applying in seconds. Yeah, defense stackers a pain but if you have to fight one solo just keep him stunned and dizzied and let him fight off your posture down and KD attacks.

with master carbineer and BH carbines 4 the only defense stacking that affects me is KD. KD and saberblock are the only things in game that make me completely useless. i dont go into battle thinking i'm the damage dealer. i take out who i can and target people that are a bigger threat to my group unless i feel like using full auto area and charge 2 to see who didn't come ready
