Thread: No Match to BH's carbine skills

I have mastered BH and fortunately I have tried acumulating as much carbine xp as possible while I have confusion shots. It is quite odd that none of the carbine special technique (btw, I am just one block away from master carbineer) that I have at present could match with those of BH in terms of HAM costs and dmg inflicted.

Therefore, for those wish to use their carbines as prime weapon, it would be a good consideration to go up the bh tree for confusion shots.

In addition, there seems to be very few carbineer in Bria and I have paid almost everytime for training from npc trainer. Therefore, if u are in Bria, u can save time yelling for training at starport and can head to the npc trainer direct.

Thats all good and well but why the **edit** do i need all of scout? So I can trap them build them a camp then use confusion shot?

I think BH is a stupid class to need all of scout, that needs to be sorted asap as I would love to BH & have a melee profession + some medic.

As I replied in the other thread, I don't believe that for one second.....

But lets hear from some of the other BH/Carbineers in here.....

The whole reason a BH picks up Carbineer is for the DAMAGE SHOTS or Cone Effect shots......and how many people worry about HAM right now.....not many for sure.

Personally I say go shovel this stuff on the BH Forum.....

Wish you were on Chilastra so I could SHOW you how effective Carbineer can be, I routinely take down most BH's or tie them if we both have equal buffs and armor......if properly setup and played correctly, only a CM can take down a Carbineer....but of course a Carbineer is pretty limited in who he can take down too

I got to try out being a MBH on TC2 yesterday, andI have to admit... I was not impressed. Maybe it was the fact that I didn't have great weapons or any SAs, but when I pulled out the laser carbine they gave me, and started shooting big mobs such as giant kimos, acklays, giant krayts, ancient bull rancors, and graul marauders (there was a Dev with us spawning these things to get my Jedi friends through their trials) , I have to say, I felt like I was doing very little compared to how I feel on live with master carbineer. I have no hard numbers, this was just "seat of the pants" feel. The only shot I really liked was that spray shot. It was kinda like FAS2, only a little more damaging.

None of the BH specials are that great for doing raw damage. I would guess just from the "feel" of sprayshot that it has about the same damage modifier as burstshot 1.

BH specials are however much more effective at sticking states. Sprayshot sticks a stun, dizzy, and blind very effectively and confusionshot sticks a stun and dizzy very effectively. The states also seem to stay stuck for much longer.

A FAS 3 at master carbineer that was more on par with sprayshot or confusionshot would rock.

Bingo, BH isn't about damage, it has the greatest states of any profession. The speed and accuracy doesn't hurt either.

Neither do I, but in order to make such a gross claim alongside TAFireHawk, one has to have credits, and plenty of them. BH carbineers get Speed, Accuracy, and more specifically good KD combo moves.

While it will cost you an arm and a leg, +25 Carbine Speed is achievable at Master Carbineer, and will make you speedcap at roughly 2.7 speeds. This weapon speed is easily obtainable for anyone that uses -0.5ish tissues and an Imp Stock, but again, money is required.

As for accuracy, I believe Master Carbineers get 130 while the most common BH/Carbineers get 180/190? +25 to 130 gives 155. You won't notice a difference between 155 and 180.. atleast, not if you're speedcap firing.

But most importantly, BH/Carbineers get NO bonuses to Accuracy While Moving, and are stuck at +30 like us Master Carbineer. I'm a firm believer that if you're going to spend money on carbine equipment, SEAs should be invested in THIS statistic, as well as speed. Going from 30 to 55 is not cheap - not cheap at all, in fact, but it's doable (I just bought a +8 (finally!) that now puts me at +25) if you have, again, the credits.

In the end, you've saved yourself TONS of SP, and can actually fare quite well against a BH/Carbineer. Throw in a melee profession with this, like Fencer, or Doctor, and you'll kick a BH/Carbineer's butt anyday.

Like most templates, skills can be revoked if you have the SEAs and the credits to buy them. Currently, I've invested in 4003 TKA, but if I had the SEAs, I could go down to 4002 or even 4001. Those few SP could be thrown into say Pharmacology 4, which will allow me to practically get a full insta-heal.

So yes.. BH/Carbineer is great. Confusion shot does make us drool, as does FireKD. But a damn rich Carbineer who uses +80 tissues, Imperial Stocks, is lucky enough to get 35% damage slices, and has millions to spend on SEAs will win. Ok, so I didn't make a very strong point.. but it's doable.

Like TAFirehawk, I'm in the process of acquiring these very 'goodies'. I've spent too much on equipment and SEAs to give up now.. and I honestly laugh at the fact that BH/Carbineers can throw Glow wire traps while I can whack them with a Stun baton. That said, I still admire their speedcapping at gross weapon speeds.

We really ought to see if we can figure out a little more about this using the bi-weekly 19 answers. It seems like everybody just assumes that while moving, AWM is better than Accuracy...

It is very important to remember that BH carbine specials are pretty much state-only. They offer great state effects that last a long time and stick reliably but the specials themselves do very little damage. If you want to dodamage you need to switch tolightning cannon or another profession.

I kill many riflemen and some melee stackers and I owe it all to BH. I don't think I could do it without confustion shot.

Carbines aren't the Bounty Hunter's kill weapons, its the pistol Eyeshots and the LLC that do the deed.

For those BHs that do go the Carbine route, one must also consider that their greater speed skillwith carbines allow them to use heavy hitting cannon carbines that pure Carbineers could only dream of using so well. Stack that on top of the most effective state effects/Dizzy KD in the ranged professions and they really don't need the high multipliers, they can state you and lay you out and use those effects to enhance their damage output.
