Thread: DH-17 THE CONFLICT. TO BE OR NOT TO BE.

I looted a dh17 snubbie carbine, the mod to it is carbine accuracy while moving 5. Now the damage stats aren't that good, in fact something like 20-60 or something lame like that, HOWEVER, this carbine is a good +bonus statelayer. And what i mean to that is, if im in a big group pvping, i whip out this little sunshine, and show others the light, by peppering them with laserfire, reducing their effectivness in fightning.

Whats my point? _______(bottom line hehe) NOTHING. just to provoke thought, for all you "thinking carbineers"

I don't think I've ever equipped a snubbie.

i went CDEF to Laser, and occasionally now i use DXR6 and rarely EE3. I have absolutely no use for a DH17, of which i have never been certed for a single one.
HAM costs mean nothing to me when I'm buffed.

Give me a laser anyday

You would be surprised what a bit of Food and a finely made Krayt, Stocked, Scoped DH17 Short Carbine can do in an unbuffed duel

Although the Enhanced E11 shouldn't be overlooked either.

Prior to the enhanced E11 and the rise of buffs, the DH17 was the carbine of choice among PvE Carbineers. One of the few carbines you could effectively solo with behind a CH tank or with a bit of Medic skill to back you up and not kill yourself in a few shots.

I find the arrogance of dismissing HAM costs because of buffs to be the kind of head in cement mentality that makes this game's high level content so retarded. At some point, buffs are due a nerfing, and I cannot wait to see the day.

It's pretty much guaranteed that buffs will be reduced in effectiveness eventually, as well as armor. Hopefully, at that time, they will also buff up the Carbineer profession to make it more worthwhile. We'll just have to wait and see... and yes, I know we've been waiting for almost a year, and seeing almost nothing.

Combat revamp should ake care of the buff problem. Whenever they get around to doing it.

I love the snub, I use it all the time when I'm unbuffed in PvE, and sometimes when I do friendly duels unbuffed. It is a great little gun, low ham, and with a good slice and 30% power up can be quite effective. It looks cool, fits with my mock Imperial officers uniform, and is great when I'm providing fire support to a friend leveling so I don't steal the xp. While the damage in the one listed above is quite low, I can see the use for it and FFA in a pig PvP group, any added accuracy is a plus, even if you have the BH line.

buffs and good armour godmode do not make.

just in the last few days, fully buffed, ive died in the Geo caves in a party (merc room), and died about 10+ times to Mellachei (SP?)

We were helping a guildie do the M quest, and it kept being bugged, we ended up doing it about 9 times. One notable time, he and his buddies spawned 3 times at one. Fighting 3 Jedi NPC's with 80% resist, Medium Armour, and 60K HAM at the same time is definatly not fun.

QFE. NPCs of that nature are the direct result of the level of imbalance caused by buffed and uberarmored players. They had to become that tough or it would be the equivalent of godmode.

even when there was only one of him, he was killing people in 2-3 hits. And since he was using area attacks, our poor tanks were suffering.
I stopped shooting altogether, just ran around rezing people and curing states and healing.

Damage is as much a factor of overpower in current high end PvE as ridiculous HAM/resists. As far as needing a guy just running around, rezzing and healing, that's exactly the way it used to be done. Members of my guild took down a Krayt dragon less than a month after the ground game launched with nothing more than Marksman, Creature Handler and Medic skills. It took numerous trips to the clone center in Mos Taike and these were the days of corpse runs, but they did manage to drop the thing.

Hunting parties should not just be a bunch of combat toons decked out laying waste to anything they encounter, there should be some level of support and tactics.
