Thread: My new Carbine, and I am not sure how to slice it....
Problem is, now that I have it I am unsure how to slice it. Usually I recommend speed slices, but in this case I dont know. I really wasnt expecting the speed to come out this low, and the result is that I am considering critical slicing. Usually I have to slice a carbine to get its speed down to this level.
Thoughts? Here it is unsliced and unpupped....

But I remember that it was requested that any slicing advice posts be accompanied with template info, so here it is:
MCarbs/MPistols/Doc4000
Thanks again in advance!

I figured since I posted a screenie with the modified speed, that there was no reason to post my template.

Okies...
Your template's speed with a Carbine is good enough. The Carbine itself has great base speed stats.
Your new Carbine's damage stats I think could go up a tiny bit more, but the reward will still be minimal should you try to decide on a Damage Slice.
I would try to max out Critical. If possible, then do a Damage Slice once Critical is maxed. If there's not enough Customization % left after maxing Critical and not being able to do Damage, then Speed of course.
P.S.- I see that your Carbine has already been ADK'd. I'm not sure, but I think you can't get an ADK'd item Sliced.

Hmm, just a small technical question, how do you expect to still be able to damage-slice a weapon which already is damage-capped when the damage-cap even is a good deal over the cap where you still can apply a damage slice?

Both speed and critical, when fully done, do 100% customisation. So much to maxing one of them and then going for another.

Thanks for the feedback so far!
Couple things:
- This weapon is Damage and SAC capped. It can not be sliced for any higher damage.
- You can most certainly slice ADK'd items. I have sliced 2 other ADK'd carbinesin the past week (an E11 and Nyms).
From the responses here, it sounds like the majority of you have the same thoughts I do. I usually recommend speed slices fordamage capped carbines, but this damn thing is FASTER than most speed slice carbines already. That combined with my template and SEA's is causing my to question whether a speed slice is the best option.
That is why I am leaning towards a critical slice. Seems like it would give me a greater overall benefit than a speed slice.
And that raises another issue : Even if I DID speed slice it, what is the speed slicing cap? At 12% speedthis damn thing will be 1.81 speed. I am pretty sure that is under the slicing cap for speed on a carbine, and if so a speed slice isnt even an option really. Anyone know the slicing cap for speed on an Elite?
Anyway, thanks for the feedback so far. Any other thoughts?

Not really sure there is a slicing cap for speed. My Elite is 1.57 speed, but I've never seen another one that low, so it's possible there is a cap higher than that and mine was just a fluke.
Awesome gun similar stats to the gun I recently had made. Yours is a bit faster, I did a speed slice as well and I belive 1.91 speed is the cap on it.
I hope this helps
Critical may not be working fully as intended, but it is better, again IMO, to go with Critical since your Carbine is already very fast and at the damage cap.

Ok, so I finally acquired the nicest carbine that I could get.

David can you confirm that your base unmodified unpupped speed is 1.57? I had a few crap E11's and Elites sitting around, and had them sliced. I cant get anything to slice under 1.95. I mean the base speed, not the modified speed. If your BASE speed (not pupped) is 1.57, then you have the fastest carbine I have ever seen. And I dont think it can be matched. I think the crafting cap for carbine speed is 1.95 as well, and the weaponsmith forums seem to agree with this.
I would love to be able to speed slice this thing, but if the slicing/crafting cap for speed is 1.95 then I will only be able to throw on a level 1 speed slice. That would bring the speed from 2.04 to 2.0, which is fairly worthless to me. If you can clarify this for me I would appreciate it. I am still agonizing over this decision.
And Xerses, Ill PM you the info
Anyone else know for certain what the slicing cap for speed is on these? Actually let me rephrase: Has anyone had a carbine sliced since the slicing changes that has sliced down to LESS than 1.95 speed? If anyone has, then specifics would be great. If no one has, then it will probably be crit slices for me.

Yes, I can confirm it. 1.57 base speed with no pup.
