Thread: CH Nerf-The end of ranged classes?
I feel your pain when it comes down to us not being fixed but this CH fix is the best thing to ever happen. This will end the pet wars completely, especially since combat droids are going to be coming in soon. See the real problem is everyone is using the pets to take out all higher lvl creatures and NPCs to effectively. I mean when a commando with a graul mauler can solo a krayt, which I have seen done numerous times, then something is really wrong. At this time everything is too easy to take down because of pets. This is a huge problem because the game becomes way to simple and all high lvl mobs don't really mean much.
High lvl mobs were put in the game as a challenge where you need more then one person to take it down and with everyone being able to have a bad*** pet with only putting so little points in CH everything starts to resemble a mere walk in a park kind of style of playing. Everyone complains that there is a lack of content because everything is to easy to take down. Krayts, Kimos, and dark jedis are suppose to be something to fear but the way it is with pet wars, they are way too easy and so make the game way to easy.
On a side note, SOJ do you know if the Devs have any intention to increase our speed mods I mean every other elite combat classreach their cap except us so are they going to change that anytime soon.

And this justifies nerfing non-CH pets from cl15 down to cl10 how exactly?
I am really scared that i will not be able to complete destroy missions now as a solo master carbineer without a half decent non-CH pet to serve as a distraction.
Pistoleers, riflemen and carbineers without any CH skills are really screwed by this change - riflemen and carbineers worst of all.
Artisans and entertainers depend on these non-CH pets to get to and from their harvesters, or even to travel outside of cities.
I agree myself CH needed some hefty nerfs, but nerfing the non-CH pets is really going to hurt the game. If they replace non-CH pets with battle droids what is the difference? It's still pet wars - they just happen to be robots which can't be healed as opposed to living breathing entities that can.
Unless that 110% counterattack change makes me superman, I am going to lose my only source of income as a master carbineer - running crappy cl25 destroy missions for under 5k a pop. A CL10 non-CH pet will die in second flat.
What I was talking about was the actual CH fix, I really don't see why they nerfed non CH other then to come down everyone that are crying about how this game isn't like Star Wars because of all the pets. On a side note the community accepts everyone having robots then everyone having creature pets. If you don't believe me look for one post complaining about the probots being too over powered when they had 3k HAM and medium armor and everyone had one.
Now the Devs should up the non ch creature lvl back to 15 because there is no point in having pets at 10 because all the pets at that lvl are a joke and wouldn't be any kind of help to anyone using them.
This will just end up forcing people to bottom feed on really low paying missions or sacrifice combat skills for ch skills.
As to the droids; that might happen sometime in the next year when somebody at SOE actually realizes people still play DE's. This is also a weak solution because droids cant be healed and I expect they will burn up just like AT-ST's. Having a very expensive battle droid (say 300k for argument's sake) destroyed in 10 seconds by a commando or chewed up and spit out by a dark jedi master is going to make it very hard to make money.
Maybe this is going to be a new money sink. Maybe we will have to buy a new droid every day or 2.

You need to read the Devs forum because the DEs are being fixed next, see the reason the DEs were being so ignored was because the Dev in charge of them was also the same Dev working on Mounts, now that Mounts are done and on TC, he can now fix the DE profession which includes alot of new stuff that will make DE a lot more important and have droids have a more effective role.

I do read the dev boards, I just dont beleive their claims most of the time. I have seen far too many things promised and not delivered on. I still think droids arent the answer due to the higher costs:
1) They cant be healed so this leads to much higher downtime.
2) As I said above I beleive they will burn up just like AT-ST's (this will make a great money sink for SOE)
3) Due to the nerf I have to choose between a pet and mobility
We are still waiting on the ham fix among other things....
Actually making combat droids doesn't create any kind of money sink because the money would be going to the DEs and not the system. Money sinks are things where we pay the system for a service like taking a shuttle, selling something on the bazaar, paying maintance but I hear what you mean. Honestly I feel some kind of petition should be started to keep the non ch lvl at 15instead ofdropping it to 10.

You can do it without pets, you need scout, but trust me it works. Get trapping 4(or even master scout since they get a bonus) and craft lecepnatrine(sp?) traps. They are like the 3rd box up, cause action damage upon impact and slow the target down for maybe a minute or so(like crawling speed). Shoot them up, then when it wears off, chuck another trap.
It's a good deal of crafting, but it works, and they are easy to make(bone+hide).
I did this for awhile before I got a non-CH pet.
1) It is a money sink. It takes cash from me gives it to droid engineers who then put it into harvester maintenance in order to get more materials to make more droids. Net effect: less money in the economy because there is more of a turnover on materials and harvesting.
2) I have messed with traps a little but they didnt address my hunting problems:
a) The resistance rate seems to be almost absolute for high level mobs. If the mob cons red to me and my petI have never had a trap stick (admittedly these were low level traps for testing purposes)
b) Mob warping and resists to traps will get me dead fast where a pet would handle the situation fine.
c) Pets are good for BAF situations traps arent.
So yes, traps might help me out but they are a very subpar solution to my problems.
With all the action going on about how SOE is going to do their best to put a stop to effective use of pets by combat classes it looks like we are going to be forced to lose our meatshields. Right now due to ham issues and broken specials I am completly unable to solo with any kind of efficancy. This will have the effect of forcingme to dabble in combat skills and master ch skills ifI want the ability to solo or earn money.
Right now I use my pet as a crutch to hold me over until carbine gets fixed. If I lose that crutch the broken state of the class will be just too much to deal with. This is going to have some real negative effects on the combat classes.
P.S. If pets are the only way to access mid/high level content doesnt it make sense to fix everbody else rather than nerfing pets?
