Do they know that they misspelled the title of this forum? Or is there some secret vehicle called a Carab in this game that we can drive, and I just don't know about it?

There are three accepted spellings of carbineer/carabinier/carabineer. Unfortunately, the three are all used with no consistency as it pertains to this game. Our class titles are carabinier, the forum is carabineer, and in the manual and most other places it's carbineer.

Most of us would like them to pick one and be consistent, but it's a fairly minor matter (and has been included as an addendum to the weekly correspondant submissions). Personally, I favor carbineer because it looks like it's derived from carbine to all us non-French people.

Last I checked, the titles said Carbineer, as in carbineuser... I think it's a typo to be carabineer, as it would imply we're using Carabines. Which to the best of my knowledge, do not exist. Hm...

I think novice has "Novice Carbinier" as the title...

I also vote for "Carbineer"

lol, if you look it up in a dictionary, the word 'carbine' comes from the french word 'carabine' and they were light quick-firing rifles used as a military sidearm by 'carabineers'. HOWEVER, other appropriate spellings include carbineer and carbinier, according to the same entry. the devs apparently all read the same dictionary entry, but since there were multiple devs involved in all the aspects of carbineers, all of the possible spellings were used. lol.

I used Carbineer but the original word was the French Carabineer (from Carabine). Also I was wondering since we are wanting to stick with the French words instead of English (this being a French game and all), lets make Pistol users Pistole'eers (pistole) and Rifle slingers Rifleherren instead of Riflemen (albeit German but that is where Rifle came from).

LOL.

Honestly who really cares if we spell it three different ways, when there is so much more that needs to be fixed right now

Why do they call it a "monthly" storyline, when you can finish it in 2 days. Shouldn't they call it a "2 day storyline, every month"?

Well, I'm mostly just talking about the board, but honestly, I've been on dev teams for games before, and this is the FIRST type of issue you try to look for. Consistency is EXTREMELY important if you're trying to create an immersive gaming environmnent... With that said, they could at least change it on the messageboards. I mean, it makes me think of scarabs which make me think of big beetles, which make me think of rock mites and mound mites and stuff, and then I think of pesky creature handlers, and then I want to skip the rest of the day at work and go home and play because I've now just thought of 3 or 4 different things I like to shoot (carbineers, rock mites, mound mites, and CHs.. OK, I like shooting everything. But then, I'm working on a project for the US Postal service, so it's expected.).

Ugh. =|

Jesus-Jumping-on-a-pogo-stick,

Carabineer was correct, they just weren't being consistent. Look the word up before entering into a completely fallacious crusade. What's a Carabineer? It's a Carbinier, which is also a carbineer. Angloramouses.

The word "carbine" comes from the French "carabine". Likewise, "carbineer" comes from the original "carabinier".

It is the original version of the word. Why is it used in our forum link? I have no clue whatsoever. LOL.
