Thread: Face the fact range weapons in this game is a waste of time

In my tests, against a non-ranged mitigated melee stacker, I found full auto area to be useless, states don't stick, damage isn't done, knockdowns or posture downs aren't applied. This makes on of our key skills useless. That was against an armored and buffed willing test player who wasn't running a COBmacro, wasn't using intimidate on me, and my laser carbine is fair, maybe in the 85 to 90% range of kraytlasers on the server.

The problem is, I don't have an architect background to help me with unlimited funding to buy the best SEA's found on the trade forums. I don't have the defensive or offensive template to take out Mokk or Janta missions by myself. And full auto area doesn't apply any states to them either.

So what do I do, I go out with a group when there is one because otherwise carbineer's areill prepared to get things done on their own. So basically I can't be effective in PvE because I don't have the defense to go after the well paying missions. I can't be effective in small scalePvP because I can't afford the SEA's it'd take to be fast enough or have enough defense, and I can only be of limited help in large scale PvP if I stand behind everyone and hope I don't get targeted by the riflemen. In the end it comes down to having to give up everything Ienjoy about the game with my template so I can merely compete.

1. Eventually the game will REQUIRE grouping, so go ahead and group now....

2. Increase accuracy to stick States.

3. Modify your template if you want to be 100% combat.....dabble in Melee or CH or BH

4. SEA's are not required, pickup BH Carbs and you will actually EXCEED the max possible from SEA's.

Not in this game buddy.

all range users fear melee unless they rilfemen or CM

Melee proffession do have an advantage at the moment. Remember if you are good at what you do, you can kite most melee proffessions and get 3-4 attacks off on them, for every attack they get on you. While this isn't much of an edge it definitely helps alot.

Exactly. You cannot and should not expect the same results from other Carbineers who have dedicated their entire template to PvE or PvP.

A semi-popular motto between us Carbineers is that: "mileage may vary", heh. It all depends on how many credits you put into your equipment and how much time in your template.

I may have to start putting YMMV in the FAQ

Hi,

Why don't you eat some food? Canape and Brandies aren't all the goodies out there. There are anti-dizzy drink, anti-intim drink, anti-KD food, accuracy food, damage reduction food, etc.

On PvE, I used brandies and canape. I can kill Janta-Mokks as fast as any melee profs WITHOUT BLEEDing. I sometimes do THREE-HIT-KILLs. (Yeah I am a BH too, but it doesn't make me a BAD person. It makes me a person who pulls 100% potential from carbines.) Personally, I think Carbineer is one of the BEST PvE professions; can't solo a GEO cave, but a TKM can't either.

As for PvP, just stick around ... combat revamp is supposed to be good. If not, I am moving on to other prof. No biggie. I have no attachment to Carbineer prof itself. I am a carbineer because it's fun. If not, I am not gonna be a carbineer. That is all.

Thank you, Mahokaric.

Carbineer was meant to get defense from keep-on-moving. Few of our specials gotta be done at stand position. We do need some KD defense but not much else; just keep on running. We should also get more bonus on accuracy-while-moving so we can stick stats while moving.

I have maxed up both Melee/Range Def before. It didn't matter very much; I get hit anyway. What you really need is something that keep you standing so you can keep on running. So pistoleers have superb advantage over carbineers there since one tree can give you all the status defenses you might need.

But going back to the main point, we gotta keep on moving in a fight. I think that is what makes us different from rifleman. As for rifleman, just wait a bit and carry around synthsteak or something. Revamp is supposedly fix the speed issue. (I mean come on they stated up front that rifles should be high damage, but very slow.)

Just sit back and chill a bit. Good things come to those who wait.

Ok... first of all, I have 2 carbineer characters. 1 is a pikeman/carbineer, with +25 tapes and master marksman. That character can beat nearly any non doctor. The other character is a Master carbineer with BH pistols and pistoleer. That character can beat nearly any non DoT user.. But how? Well, you land a dizzy KD... spam cripple wiht a laser carbine, I can guarantee you if you keep your distance you will win, crippling does 500-600 damage against an ARMORED opponent... and then I use DoTs on top of that.. its really quite lethal. Against ranged players such as riflemen, I usually need to rely on my DoTs, because crippling with my EE3 or DXR carbine only does a few hundred damage, not enough to incap before they can heal everything. Please people, give carbines a chance.

Actually, i am aMSwords/MCarbs/3400Fencer/NMedic i can go through the geo caves including acklay with this template as long as i have good buffs with no real issues (jedi's spawn exploiting and training are usually my only issues), not gonna lie and say i can do everythingwith carbines, but there are many area in the cave that go just as if not easier with a laser/dxr-6 than a scythe/PH ... a well developer carbineer fairs just as well done there as any other ranged prof. The only reason swords fair so well is against those enhanced kiwi/kliknik's due to their blast resist. Any this being said i know alot of swordsman and most of them have trouble with the merc room.
