Being a Carbineer always feels more like a chess player than a spammer. You've got to think three moves ahead to compete and 10 moves ahead to win.

The DH-17 is a good carbine but I prefer my 2.2 AS elite (form fitted stock, speed slice, normal barrel. 208-134 dmg) or damage sliced E-11 carbine over a damage sliced DH-17. AP1 really helps when the resists of mob's crawl above 25%.

PST.....AP1 has no affect on resists, it is only for AR1/2/3

My impression was that AP1 against an AR0 enemy would increase the damage by 50%. In which case it would still help against a 25% resistance enemy (not by nature ofan AP vs AR comparison). But then again, there are a ton of rumors floating around about how AP and AR do or do not work, so I never really figuredout how it really does work...

Well the increase is 25% to start with, but it has nothing to do with Resist %......so mentioning that is VERY misleading, it is all about AR/AP ratio

And yes there are rumors that I hope put to bed with some more testing this weekend.....

AP1 vs. AR0 is 1.25 damage, not 1.5 damage. As us engineers allways do lol, let's look at the numbers...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Target: AR0, 25% resist

Weapon 1: AP0, X damage -- X * 1 * .75 = .75X

Weapon 2: AP1, X damage -- X * 1.25 * .75 = .9375X

Damage ratio: .9375X / .75X = 1.25 = Weapon 2 does 25% more damage

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Target: AR1, 25% resist

Weapon 1: X * .5 * .75 = .375X

Weapon 2: X * 1* .75 = .75X

Damage Ratio: .75X / .375X = 2.0 = Weapon 2 does 100% more damage = Weapon 2 does twice as much damage

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As you can see, there is no big suprise here.

Bottom Line: Higher AP is allways better when comparing 2 weapons with equal damage stats and the same damage type, even more so as the AR of the target goes up.

EDIT: For a more in depth look at the comaprison of AP vs. resistance to damage types, I have a reply on one of these threads about the EE3 and how it is not allways better to use one vs. a heat vulnerable target. The numbers are quite interesting.

LOL! This profession forum's better than most of the other professions- we're always crunching numbers, comparing DPS, discussing tactics and doing totem poles. Keep on entertaining and posting wisely, rather than those game complaint posts that are in other professions.

Let's see if I can do this right...

NURF carbenires... I mean carbineers! I mean one came up to my base and... started shooting. Before we knew it, me and my friend... oh I mean and my 20 hard core double master elite guildies... were all dizzy. The next thing I knew, we were all on the ground and couldn't stand up. We must have been flopping for 20 seconds... I mean5 minutes. My friend... I mean one of us managed to stand up, but took one look at this carbineer, and burst ran away. After I got up I only had a few health points left. I used a stim B, but it only cleared 1/2... I mean 200 of my health. Then, before I could do anything else, he did some other funky attack, and I was kneeling. Of course I didn't try to kneel, he must have taken advantage of an exploit. Of course I tried to stand up, and I was on the group again (that exploit has been reported to the devs, right?)!After that, he shot me until I was dead.

If a single carbineer can do that to both, I mean all of us, how can you possible call them balanced. Nurf carbineers!!!111!!!

Hmm, I think I need more practice at flaming nerf rants.

ROTFLMFAO! Please! No more coduit jokes! I hated hydrology. I'm a structures guy, tell me it is a steel reinforced concrete column, used to support the Jedi Temple or something. Anything but a conduit.

By the way, what field are you in TA?

It looks like a timeline. On the bottom you start with Anakin as a child (not the icon, I know, work with me). Then he becomes a man. Then he becomes Darth Vader. Then he becomes a strange representation within the force.
