Thread: Would you want the Elite Carbine changed to Stun damage?

If we were to get a stun weapon it would have to be a completely new gun because the elite carbine isn't a half bad gun and as some argue it's one of our best. Personally I'd like to see it changed to cold damage. Right now there are only 2 weapons in the whole game that do cold damage (SG82 rifle and cyroban grenades). Add to that the fact that cyrobans are expendable weapons you could argue they don't even count. So as you can see cold is a severly under represented damage type.

OK jawa ion rifle not the best rifle?

In PvE yes, thats true


In Pvp? Riflemen with the ion rifle OWN. I get taken down by a rifleman with the ion rifle, and i clone, and go about my business elsewhere, because im not gonna win.

Why not just make it so that stun in armor has a high resist like everything else, it seems like it is catering to rifleman. Oh, and I think the elite should stay energy but be ap2 since thedx2 is ap1 and the t21 is ap3.

elite should be ap2 to match up in the increasing ap with weapon trend, and i think the e11carbine should be stun dmg to make it distinct from the e11 rifle other than the ap difference. and to explain why the storm troopers were able to stun leia with their e11 in the beginning of new hope.

This is because they have the ability to "Set your blasters to stun" - We in the game don't have the luxury they have in the movies to just hit a switch and -VIOLA- stun damage instead of energy.

Hope you guys don't mind my opinions since I'm visiting (lets just say I have a vested interest in the class for the time being ).

I think the elite should be AP3 or have a higher max to really make it a more competitive gun and outshine the laser (as the T21 outshines the laser rifle).

I also definately agree Nym's slugthrower should be kinetic, and it'd be nice to give a schematic for such a weapon or modify one of the existing unused carbines (do you need a DH17 AND a DH17 snub?) to have the kinetic damage.

Cold's a neat idea but outside krayt hunting I don't think it'd have much use, and unless it had a high AP value it'd be pretty useless there as well.

Jawa's are great in pvp only if the target is wearing composit with some stun resistance. If there is a little resistance, then the AP1 feature kicks in. If there's no resistance, then mitigation removes the AP1 bonus (AR1-AP1) and it hits as if there's no AP nor any armor. The tangle doesn't get that luxury.


I'd love to see a stun damage carbine, as well as kenetic and cold. Riffles get the choice of all damage types (with the exception of blast - but that's more for heavy/thrown/commando type weapons) though i don't think an exisiting carbine should be changed, i think they should just introduce new ones to increase our options.

Change it to anything other than energy. I don't care what you change any of our limited carbines to, just make SOME change!!! You can't nerf what already has been, so...

That would be great, but it would require a lot of work from several different departments: new art, new sounds,new schematics, etc. I was just hoping for a quick fix (like they've done over and over with the T21s to try and balance them). Tweak a few lines of code or whatever,change the damage type over from Energy to Stun, and voila! We'd be serious contenders against the hordes of Riflemen.


And before anyone else says that it would be too unbalancing, just remember that the Riflemen can still target the all but unhealable mind pool with their AP1 Stun weapon....
