I agree with both sides. I am slowly dropping pistoleer as I am going up carbineer and I have noticed I have to change my play style. First of all you can't just run in, guns blazing, while not paying attention. Heck with a DX2 pistol I can just stand in the center of a pack of mobs and take them all out without using any specials... I can just watch TV. But with carbine I now have to guage my distance to keep an ideal range so my specials will hit. And when they hit they kill that mob hard.

I don't have very good guns but my tactics have made up for it. I do see a problem with broken skills that do extra unwanted effects or unbalanced HAM costs but I still am going to go up this tree. One thing I do different is that I always group... Why? 1. I am a Squad Leader 2. I play the support role, applying stun/blind/posturechange effects. 3. I have migrated my stats to meet my requirements for both SL and Carbineer which leaves my health bar very low. Where even when I use my pistol I might not survive a direct attack.

Carbineer does not seem like a good profession for soloing, though it can provide a good beatdown for those tough mobs. A group of carbineers can really do a whole lot of damage (with 5 doctors nearby though).

im totaly with u man carbine not solo elite pro. ..im mas doc and i all time group ..

also master carbine is good for solo ...just i afraid tka master and BH alll others easyyy( dizzy KD make me sick)

commando does 5k-6k damage every 10 seconds, that's not a good damage output, especially since flamethrower doesn't even have AP 1, anything with armor take 50% less damage right away, only thing good is the flamethrower dot, but then, damage from fire doesn't count toward your damage on the critter, so if a carbineer and commando both attempt to bring down a krayt, commando's fire will do most of the work, but carbineer will able to loot it afterwards.

I have been

Master pistoleer

Rifelman 4/4/3/4

Master Commando

and

Master TKA

.....................................

Every singel one of these are atleast three times easier to be

i admit when i first got it i thought it was dreadful but now with my laser carbine

55 - 357 damage

3.7 speed

im starting to like it alot more but it still sucks compared to the other skills i used

The HAM damage is so bad its hard to do specials if you dont have a creature helping you out

The speed of my gun is slower then my flamethrower and acid rifel

i was getting out damaged by a pistoleer but now with my new gun im managing to do about 250-400 more then him

This skill only need minor adjustments only slight little tweak on the ham damage and stuff nothing to big like making it 1 hit kills and stuff

To Donneysabertooth: Welcome to a well kept secret. The carbineer class is fun and effective, and is still 1/2 broke.

To everyone whining about the guns: You are silly. Get some tatooine sunburn and use it before you whine about having to be buffed about doctors. Tatooine sunburn is the key. Don't ask silly questions. Just use it and fight and come back and tell me about it.

The carbineer class is only looking to improve. I don't think we would be unbalanced with low HAM costs. If you've seen commandos do 7k hits with a decent 1k+ max dmg flamethrower you wouldn't feel bad at all.

Your weapon makes the biggest difference. If your server doesn't have amazing stat weapons, get lots of decent ones, get them sliced, and use powerups. Then what you have the best that you can do for that server and thats that. I'm using a dmg sliced non-krayt laser carbine on Chilastra that is 60-340 3.6 spd. Cost 8k for the carbine, 2.5k for the slice, and a 2k for a crate of 10 30% dmg powerups.

Tatooine sunburn costs about 600 cr for a stack of 8, each one lasts for 5 minutes (usually the length of a good firefight).

End of story!

Do people make light of other classes like this? For your incredibly belated information Gravaar, any Carbineer worth the title knows enough to break out the tat sunburns, the breath-of-heavens, the ryshcate, the buffs, muon gold, and whatever else we NEED to make the guns function for us. We're upset that we HAVE to when other ranged classes don't, and have 1/2 our specials gimped as you said. Where's the tradeoff there? We use super HAM to have about 5 or 6 useless specials out of 12? And only be able to shoot them 5-8 times? And a weak class-only weapon? And status effects that don't stick (dizzy, knockdown) or work at all (stun)? And weaker stat modifiers to boot? Come on, tell me another one. The quick fixes that make our class workable don't make our class unbroken, and I really wish people would stop implying as much. We want what the devs promised. Maybe I should make that my sig?

Ok, this is how it is. You can get some decent weapons on some servers, and with the right support (food, buffs, medics in the field with you) carbineer is pretty formidable.

But start working on carbine on TC, where the player population is low, the weapons are not as powerful and there are not as many ways to offset the high HAM costs. This is where the problem lies. The base profession is unbalanced even though many of us have found ways to compensate.

yup... i only know of 2 carbineers that are still around on TC(some i haven't seen in ages, and some i probably don't know), and it's me and Stavos. i'm a MCM/carbineer, and he's a MD/near-master carbineer. it's rather distrubing O.o i probably would've quit carbineer if i wasn't a CM.

i've been bugging a master chef for my breath of heaven/etc order, i even lend him my factory... our carbine ham cost shouldn't be as low as a pistoleer's, but it shouldn't be so high that it killsusall the time
