But I didn't come to SWG just to shoot **edit**. I can do that in any of the Dark Forces games.

Melee is brilliant for those who aspire to be jedi, but don't have the gametime/resources to do the massive jedi grind (now, average is what, 20+ professions to unlock?). It's entertaining. Its fun. It's kept my interest FAR longer than ranged has. It's not necessarily better, and not necessarily worse (except for pikemen. *shudders*). It's not continuity breaking either.

IMO, melee is needed for this game. It just is. Especially after playing KOTOR. Melee professions not "star wars" you say? I don't see commandos being particularly "Star Wars". I don't see MCMs as being particularly "Star Wars". I don't see armosmiths/weaponsmiths crafting named brands that were made by massive corporations and completely factory build being very "Star Wars". Face it, melee is just as "Star Wars" as 80% of this game. More so. Melee in THIS game has a Star Wars feel about it. And that's all that matters.

Let's use some common sense. The Rebels and Imperials are both armies correct? Can we all at least agree that someone somewhere has to make the weapons for each? Can we also agree that the empire and the rebels have special forces units such as commandoes? Is it also hard to believe that both armies have special dev units such as CMs to deliver poisons and cure as each army sees fit in the field?

My point about this is, construction of materials and weapons are a reality of any army even fictional ones. This is Star wars. Want more proof? How about the construction of the second death star? Someone had to make it. What about the calmarian ship builders who make the rebel cruisers? Are these examples perfect? No. I can say that buying a gun that was made from say Reldurpa,Riona or Shabitzis more star wars than watching a TKM tank a friggen Rancor. Luke had trouble himself with the rancor in jabbas pit. The big rancor in Kotor like the ones in galaxies I might add, made you deal with ita certain way. Lets just say that it's very hard to do with any of your weapons. Your character as even a jedi couldnt tank the rancor in Kotor.

Kotor is a great game, but what did you use when you fight? I remember using blasters, then I became a jedi and used a lightsaber. Not gaffi sticks, vibro lance or any of that stuff. Again I sure as hell couldnt tank that rancor in Kotor. No, it isn't starwars to watch a TKM or any other melee class own a kimogila. That should be reserved for a well equipped group of people. That group should have alot of ranged classes to it.

My two cents

As for saying that crafting shouldnt be in the game are you nuts? At least crafting with factories gives the player base the chance to become their own version of Incom (That nice Xwing Fighter you will probably be flying) Ect like the many companies that Stars Literature refers to. Companies and shipyards etc are also apart of the game the crafting side of things represents this and Im sure when the space expansion comes out there will be players dedicated to crafting ships if that is a possiblity.

Im not saying melee doesnt have a place, Jabba employed melee classes and look even the Emperor had Imperial Guards with Vibrolances. Im not arguing this point. What Im saying is that the game and content leans more towards melee classes. You say you grew bored of ranged combat. Thats part of my point! Our classes are not very entertaining, majority of specials are not viable to use and finally melee gets the job done better, faster and with more interest then ranged. Also referring to KOTOR, this game is supposed to be taking place between Episode IV and V KOTOR is set back a long way ago when the jedi order is still around.

A light saber is a jedi's weapon because they are the ones only able to wield a melee weapon with any potential in a futuristic age dominated by blasters. (Because they have the force and can block blaster attacks)

Some people keep dodging the point. Watch the movies and tell me what the majority of people are fighting with and dying to. Even the gungans who use quasi melee weapons get owned as soon as their shield generator goes Kaputt to blaster weilding droids. Dont bring a knife to a gun fight.

Or better yet, Han Solo when talking to Obi-wan and luke about the force on the Millienum Falcon. the quote though basterdised is something like "Dont bother me with your Hocus Pocus give me a good blaster any day" Okay true enough the Force turns out be be the most powerful thing in the universe but Han Solo isnt asking for a Vibroknucker, Lance or sword. Why? See original post about said TKA's Pikeman and Fencers getting blasted or sabered into the pit of Carkoon in ROTJ

You said it yourself, guns are boring. Its a simple fact that to fight with any long ranged weapon is simply a matter of practice and more importantly, consistentcy. If you continually practice the same shot time and time again, until you are doing exactly the same thing each time, then accuracy is simply a matter of adjusting your aim accordingly (pointing yourself in the right direction).

I playShooting gameslike House of the Dead, the fun (challenge) of that comes from your speed and accuracy. Those two factors are taken out of your hand by the MMOG engine. You can't be faster or more accurate, its just simply down to your character's stats. Justselect target then spam your pre-meditated combo.

But repetition doesn't make fantastic gameplay, does it?

I mean even if you had a hundred fully working specials, would it be anymore fun? Would you use those specials if "Health2,then spam Body3" worked better?

On a side note: If you can't beat melee fighters, rmbra sniper's three top-most priorities "Location, location, location."

Take the blue pill,Ô
Play SWG, never dual-wield your pistols and believe whatever you want to believe.
Take the red pill,Ô
Play MxO, and I will show you how deep the rabbit hole goes.

SWG was never the game I wanted it to be, even before the NGE. All the NGE did is take away what gameplay SWG actually did have.
