I had fully intended to wait out past JTLS... if that is screwed up, I won't be able to stand it. But like a good SW fanboy, I'll be too busy drooling over it to notice something wrong for at least two months. And then I'll have to pop someone in the head with my CDEF Carbine... and watch it disinetegrate after the shock of being used since about July 17th last year

I am truly amazed at the utter lack of some people to grasp what has happened....of course there is little we can do to change their priorities. But some of the comments I am hearing are more sugar coated than even what the Devs themselves have said.

I hope everybody realizes we won't see ANY balancing to make a difference until 2005......please let that sink in for more than 5 seconds. That is more than enough time for a noob to start, master many profs, and quit.....all before x-mas.

Now think about what the Devs have been doing for the last 12+ months AND how much revenue has been generated under the Star Wars Galaxies name......Some figures for everybody, SOE announced they have sold over 400,000 copies of SWG and lets say they averaged 100,000 paying subscribers each of the 12 months (many months higher and recent months lower). This equals $34,000,000 and that is being conservative....but a good portion of the game sales gets eaten up before SOE sees the money, so lets knock 8 mil off that.

SOE has generated $26,000,000 in game sales and subscriptions......most games cost $5-$10 mil to produce and then we have all the online costs on top of that....My whole point here is that there is MILLIONS to pay developers in the last 12 months AND WE STILL HAVE A PISS POOR BETA THAT WE PLAY.

I am just looking at the big picture of what SOE has shoved down our throats to make a buck....well millions of bucks. I have had a lot of fun playing SWG and I have yet to cancel any of my THREE accounts, but lets not sugar coat what has happened.

Novamarine:

In Thunderheart's post, he said that he would be working directly with community correspondants to fix existing issues. The way I interperate this is that it's a "mini-combat balance".

Now here's my question for you: Do you think that most of the suggestions (not just from the Carbineer Community) will go through?

Your numbers are a lot less agressive than mine... I had figured that the active subscribers ramped up to 400k and leveled out there after 6months. The number I figured was 84mil.gross from subscriptions and box sales. Like most companys, they are interested in sales, because thats a good number to show off to the PHB who says "Wow, 50k new subscriptions, up from last year, thats great!" But fails to realize that they have had 600k unique subs they could have kepts if they had spent more time on other things... but I digress... this is the carbineer forum, not the Hosoke Philosphy (or the Hosoke Spelling Bee) forum

Well what you fail to realize is that about 75% of people have quit this game.....so your numbers are way too high. And my point of being conservative still shows millions of dollars for development that never happened.

Honestly, if we were still in BETA, we would be crying to NOT send this to Gold.....especially when they are changing the ENTIRE combat system, which is stupid IMO as the current combat model would work if they just fixed it.

That sounds familiar... I think we were crying that in beta... we said it wasn't ready... and no one listened!

I don't know.

The Dev priority is clearly Jedi then JTL. I cannot tell how much time they are going to give us. I see one of3 thing happening: either they will fix bugs and imbalances (like fix the issues I recommended), they will addcharge systems (like change the speed equation, HAM system, armor, etc) or a bit of both. Which of those depends on how much time they were willing to devote to this revamp. One requires changes to code or spreadsheets and the other requires all new coding and lots of testing. Only time will tell how much is done.

There is some stuff going on in the backrooms that has great potential for great progress. At this point I cannot say anything more than I just said. If you follow TH's threads you might be able to figure out what is going on.

I don't get why everyone is so happy and jovial.

They were banking on the Combat Balance since November 2003, even some Developers (who are now gone) said the CB was the best hope for fixing all the problems of SWG.

But in the final aspect of things, they know Jedi = Money. And money = what matters to corporations.

Customer satisfaction will always come second to money.

If Jedi bring in money, Jedi they will give everyone. (Publish 10)
