Thread: Correspondent Term Limits in Effect Now

That absolutley sucks ......
As far as i am concerned it's another ploy by SOE to keep our voices in the background, by changing the correspondent every 6 months they insure that the correspondent is never 100% uptodate with all the issues and problems and unable to develop a propper dialogue with SOE.
Surely they understand that the best person for the job is someone who knows the proffession well and has an established chain of comunication with the developers, by changing correspondents every 6 months this means that chain of comunication will never be cemented and there will always be a period of uncertainty.
I'm not saying there are people who know asd much or more about the proffession as the current corries, but the current corries have established over a long period of time a firm line of comunication, and if a new corrie is apointed then he/she wil have to spend along time developing them ties his/herself and thus our voice will diminish over that period of time.
Correspondents should only be changed if they A) Are doing a bad job or B) If they decide they don't want to be a correspondent anymore.
I disagree, the fact that the corro changes every 6 months I feel is better for the players. Lets take the GCW corrospondent for example the last 2 corrospondents were firmly PvE based corrospondents, now those same corrospondents probably did not voice the PvP players concern over the TEF removal, but rather shoved there own beliefs down the devs throats saying that is what the community wants, however the GCW board is ablaze with people asking for some form of TEF system to be put in place, now when a corrospondent that is more PvP based gets that spot, I am sure there will be some pushing for a reinstatment of TEF's.
While the carbineer position is not the GCW, but it has the potential for the same abuse, thus SOE should limit the corrospondents to a term, this will help ensure that 1 corrospondent is not forcing his/her playstyle or beleifs and making it appear that the community is giving the proper feedback.
You did in my humble opinion an extremly good job.
Im close to saying that the carbineer is the only "none issue" combat profession since the CU (the large majority of PRE CU carbineers still miss their area KD but I think its just the DEVs not caring about this and the POST CU carbineers cant miss what they never had).
/tiphat TA!
I'll keep an eye out for your posts.
But i guess it will be good for you that you get some extra time for your family, especially for your daughter, as from now.
It has always been great to know that the correspondent was always around, posting in almost every thread that popped up. I'm sure lots of people that are used to the carbineer board need to smirk when they see how correspondent posts in other boards are so rare and thus even get "firsts" as replys.
Thanks for everything you've done for this profession, this community and the entire game Firehawk!
Although it doesn't bother me too much as i'm rarely in combat (and the appendant forums) anymore, i hope one of the old folks will get the position in future.

we like to pretend being a correspondent means something but even so i think you should only be one for so long then have to reapply just to give other players a chance. i think you should be able to reapply and if still the best for it be it again.
That is EXACTLY the way SOE is handling it.

Well you are wrong, the GCW views were voiced quite strongly by the last Corrs.....but the Corrs don't make the decisions here.

I have been around since a few months before you became correspondent and i can say that you have always been 'the heart' of this community, TA. Both during your correspondent time and before it. That being said it's very sad that you need to leave this position...

Auraboron was an awesome GCW Correspondent, for PvE as well as for PvP.
Have a look at how many good concept threads he started.
He was also not biased regarding faction, he even switched faction to see both sides of the war.
After having started the numeroues Concept threads who had to do with the overall GCW, he started a PvP GCW questions which got flamed and flamed and flamed by a large base of the jedi community.
Since then the GCW forum never recovered from that flame fest and PvP, Jedi and TEF discussion are just pure flamebaits wich are repeated over and over again. The GCW forum is now almost in the same state as the Jedi and BH forum, as that it is none useable anymore.
That just on a short note to Auraboron as GCW Correspondent.
The GCW correspodent before Auraboron was a short sightened guy, who never understood how unbalancing SWG PvP was before the CU. He constantly arguemented that PvP wasnt broken and that everybody had a chance to PvP if they would go Rifleman/CM ( as jedi werent that visible in massive in numbers as now). Each time a player said something like "but I cant PvP with my Smugg/Pistoleer" he said "your are a noob and cant use your template" or he said go Rifleman/CM, with himself being a Rifleman/CM
Correspondents are picked by SOE, not by the community and the new GCW Correspondent BMF came almost out of nowhere. Although he posted on a regular base on the GCW forum, he wasnt that active in most of the discussion on the GCW, probadly because of above mentioned reason.
What a correspondent should do is mediate and communicate between the community as well the DEVs. He should be able to understand the issues the player have, analyse them and discuss these with them to find the root of the problem and then forward these issues to the DEVs. He should be able to look beyond the forum community as this is just a subset of the larger SWG community, so that sometimes eg. even the majority of the forum community might want a TEF back, it might be that the majority of the overall SWG community doesnt want it back.
He should also try to focus the community on issues, concept and ideas to outline new ideas the community has. He should also be able to set his personal view aside to forward the communities issus even when he has a different opinion.
TA has always been handling a straight forward course, some said a bit to straight but it always did the Carbineer forum community good (TA s attitude to posters ( new and old ones) is that of an ancient giant krayt to newbies - If they surive, he'll eat them later
Yes we tend to argue with TA from time to times but these were always reasonable arguements and even when TA sometimes was a different opinion as some of the community I have a strong faith that he still communicated this to the DEVs.
He even got banned for something he did on the correspondent forum to bring the attention of the DEVs to a carbineer issues.
Again /sal to you TA, you have been and always will be an awesome correspondent (even as blue glowie)!
I hope you stick around a long time in this community.
