Thread: Correspondent Term Limits in Effect Now
The problem is, the current corespondents are getting no choice in the matter, basically any corries that have had the position over 6 months are being binned and new ones are being recruited, so there's no choice in the matter, we will have a new corrie, which i think is totally disgraceful and thoughtless of SOE.

Hmm, time is up already again? Yay... wish you'd stick on the job, you really did and still do great.
I still admit, sometimes you are a bit too straightforward for my personal taste, but it's an absolutely minor detail...
I very much wish you'd stick to the position and keep up with the good work. If you don't do, i wish the follow-up good luck, he'll have a hard time to keep up with the standards you set.

Personally, I'd like the idea for a Correspondent to stay indefinitely on if:
* They want to.
and
* That Profession's Community wants them to.
Anyways,
TAfirehawk, take it easy now that you're "normal" like the rest of us. Your watch over the profession and taking over for Novamarine was smooth sailing.
Good luck to whoever takes the Carbineer Correspondent. Stay watchful, since Carbineer right now is pretty good to go!
Hopefully you'll stick around on the boards anyway TA, you're help and advice has been invaluable

I'm not sure it's disgraceful and thoughtless. It's certainly something different. But I just don't see it as some sort of vindictive move on SOE's part to get rid of old correspondents. Having correspondents trade out every 6 months makes sense in certain ways. In a MMORPG, the situation changes rapidly. It makes sense to me that the Devs would want to try to rotate fresh blood into the correspondent chairs every once in awhile to ensure that the advice stays fresh and the dynamic stays active. None of this takes away from TA's service, because he's certainly been an exceptional correspondent the whole time he's been here. But the policy itself doesn't seem like a disgraceful one or even necessarily a very bad one to me.
Anyway, I want to thank you for having been such a good correspondent for such a long time
/salute
It's sad to see you go TA, you've been a great correspondent. And...

The Devs have drawn the line in the sand for all Corrs over 6 months in 'office' to retire. I have been at this just over 1 year so the position of Carbineer Correspondent will be opening up shortly. The Devs will make a post in here asking for applications, so at that time anybody and everybody can read the requirements and decide to apply.
It has been a pleasure being the spokesperson for the Carbineer Community. I will not be re-applying for the position so now all of you have your chance to be in the 'hot seat'.
Nice job, sorry to see you go, good luck in the future
First, thank all of you for your honest opinions here and in all your posts in this Forum. I truly appreciate each and every opinion here.

Damn, you still going to stick around and be the new Coor's right arm? (Like you were for Nova)
Yes I will still be around....Civ4 is going to pull me away a bit, but I won't go far.

That absolutley sucks ......
As far as i am concerned it's another ploy by SOE to keep our voices in the background, by changing the correspondent every 6 months they insure that the correspondent is never 100% uptodate with all the issues and problems and unable to develop a propper dialogue with SOE.
Surely they understand that the best person for the job is someone who knows the proffession well and has an established chain of comunication with the developers, by changing correspondents every 6 months this means that chain of comunication will never be cemented and there will always be a period of uncertainty.
I'm not saying there are people who know asd much or more about the proffession as the current corries, but the current corries have established over a long period of time a firm line of comunication, and if a new corrie is apointed then he/she wil have to spend along time developing them ties his/herself and thus our voice will diminish over that period of time.
Correspondents should only be changed if they A) Are doing a bad job or B) If they decide they don't want to be a correspondent anymore.
Let me explain something here.....the Term Limits went into effect months ago. The Corrs were given the opportunity to stay on and if they did there was no new application process....but that time is over and the mandatory application process is in effect. Basically I could re-apply just like anybody else....and probably get the position because the Devs know me better than the rest of you, not that the rest of the applicants wouldn't do a fine job, it is less of an unknown with an existing Corr.
So please don't think SOE is making us step down, each Corr has the same opportunity to apply for the same or different Corr position.....I suppose if Tanks and I just wanted to swap positions we could ![]()

Looks like TA and I share the same passion for the profession. If I do get the position though, I will definately be hounding her for help =P

It is worth repeating.....all current Corrs have the opportunity and are even encouraged to re-apply.

I will still be around and helping the new Corr into their position....Nova had me under his wing for about 5 months treating me as his assistant and I will help the new person the way he helped me.

Yeah my almost 5 month old daughter has something to do with it, but honestly it is time for a fresh, new person to represent this community.
