Thread: Speed or Damage?? What do you Prefer!!!?
I'm fairly new to Carbines 2011 but I had a lot of cash after quitting M Arch so I had 3 nice carbines made for me(Thanks Talisman)- one dam slice and 2 speed. The laser had the dam slice and ended up as speed 3 and 600 dam (roughly).
Now I understand the speed V's dam argument until the speed cap comes in and most people go with speed as more benifical, and I agree if you are trying for effects BUT.........damage has a multiplyer attached and this is where I get all blond and can't do the math. I do like hitting for 3-4k and dropping Savage Quenkers in 2 shots as there isn't time for the others to aggro on me. I will have to try a faster lower dam gun and see how it turns out.
Experienced Carbineers - your thoughts on the damage multiplyer plz.
Also I am completely gutted that a very well made gun can be merely good after a mediocre slice and an average gun can be very good after a great slice. That the great gun & great slice combo is random is kind of suckky IMO.
Hurry up servers!

Since I was firing my specials slowly at first I used my speediest carbines to fire off specials. As I finish my BH Carbine line and get deeper into Carbineer though, I tend to use my slower, more damaging carbines. I try to fire as fast as possible generally though, when I'm buffed.
This is exactly what I am saying in the MANY threads......speed reductions make the biggest impact until you hit the Speed Cap. Well with MBH you can hit the cap on almost any weapon with just 1000 Carbineer.

Oh and by the way, I have +170 carbine accuracy and I dueled someone, I think I might have hit them once. Go, defense caps!

Yeah he's right, with 1-4-4-4 Carbineer, 0-4-0-0 BH, I can spam Crippling Shot every second with my spiffy new4 spd 104-384 Laser Carbine

The absalute best person you could ask this question, would be a commando. Who are use to working with slow but powerful weapons and know the diffrences between speend and power very well. Lucky for you I was a master commando ![]()
With a 5.0 speed flamthrower with damage from 500-1000 I did a good 3k-8k damage per9 seconds.
With a 3.1 speed flamthrower with damage from 450-800 I did 2k-5k damage ever 3 seconds.
This is with my flamesingle2 btw. You might think the damage I did was better with the slower flamethrower, but in 9 seconds time I could do 6k-15k damage with the 3.1 speed. While in 9 seconds I could do 3k-8k with the 9 speed. Obviously the speed has the best advantage in this case.
Next we look at my current proffession, pistoleer, or at least its specials. With the same weapon and 3 boxes into the specials tree, I did about 1k damage with stopping shot every 3 seconds. But with double tap I did about 500 damage every 1 second. Again stopping shot does more damage per hit BUT in the same time it takes to fire stopping shot twice, I could fire double tap 6 times and do 3k damage total while I only do 2k with stopping shot.
Speed is superior to damage in both specials and weaponry. Even if the weapon does less damage per shot, it will fire faster and do more shots in the same amount of time that a slower and heavier hitting weapon would do.
