TAfirehawk,

Thanks, very useful stuff. Can you elaborate when you say: "Please find a Laser Carbine that isn't Stocked and gets a Speed Slice"?

I'm trying to find a good carbine for a Carbineer just starting, but all the Vendors I find either do not have Carbines or their selection of carbines doesn't seem any better than what I have. So what do you mean when you say "isn't stocked" ?

Thanks

Non-stock Carbines are lower in Speed. While a Stock adds to HAM, its biggest negative is increasing SPEED (making you slower thus lower DPS) for a non-Master or non-BH Carbineer.

That sucks on it having the Stock. How can I tell if a Carbine has a Stock?

The reason I think I'm not certified in Enhanced E11 is because when I look atthe item details it say: "Certified: No". Is that just a bug? I am definately certified in E11s...

Probably a bug. I have never check on mine, but they work for me. As far as the stocks go, the only real way you can tell is by the stats. Most guns you cant see the stocks, barrels, scopes, etc, you just gotta judge by the stats.

To me it looks like both have stocks. Laser 1 is sliced and Laser 2 unsliced.

Laser 2 is a good carbine if it is unsliced. Laser 1 is crap.

Laser 1 looks like the stats on my stocked (unsliced) carbines. I have around 40-280 3.6 on un-stocked and 80-320 3.9 with stock (give and take a few points).A stock add 40 min and max damage and also makes it 0.3 slower if it is well experimented. Adds 25-30 HAM cost as well. Laser 1 seems to have a real bad stock.

Don't agree with the advice to never buy carbines with stock and scope. Scopes is a must have (can be experimented on HAm cost so they add +15 accuray and about 1 ham cost). Stocksgives you higher DPS. But if you want to have a stock or not depends on your style (if you want to land several state changes better speed is more important) and if you want to be able to use the gun without buffs.

Would use a non-stocked laser if you are a low-level carbineer.

I have a feeling a stock won't always give you higher DPS depending on your speed mod.

(nitpicking) I might be wrong though, the difference is about .3s though. That's a big deal imo, especially at novice.

Recommending NOT getting a Stock or Scope (mainly stock) is for NOOB Carbineers......us Masters should always have a few fully loaded Carbines hot-keyed

Okay, my next question seems to be, how can i tell just by looking if a carbine is stocked/scoped/sliced? It seems you guys can tell just by looking at the stats, but I'm not quite there yet . Any pointers as to what I can look for that'll throw up red flags?

You really gotta get to know the 'standard' weapon first. An average laser Carbine on Valycn is something like spd 3.7 55-375. A stocked version of this would add both speed and damage, so it would be about spd 4.2 70-415. This is only looking at speed and damage, however stocks/scopes/barrells also effect the accuracy and HAM. The main giveaway to tell weather or not a weapon is stocked is by looking at the damage and speed. Also it seems like most weaponsmiths either stock type of gun or they dont. So you might have to compare from weaponsmith to weaponsmith as oppose to just comparing a single weaponsmiths selection. Hope this helps a bit.

o...and if a weapon is sliced there will be a message at the bottom of the stats the reads something like this: "This weapon as been altered by a smuggler and may draw unwanted attention for the empire". Slicing will increase either the speed or the damage (makes the gun faster or adds more damage). Most weaponsmiths dont preslice their weapons, but you still gotta keep an eye out for it. A tip for buying weapons: if you want a laser carbine and you are buying them from a weaponsmith and they are unsliced, it is best to buy 2 or 3 so you have a better chance at recieving your desired slice type.

Don't know if this question is out of line, but can anyone point me to a carbine dealer on Intrepid that does not scope/stock their weapons? If this kind of thing is not allowed, i apologize

Personally, at your level id use a damage sliced dh17 with a speed powerup.
