Thread: Why bother with carbineer? And who had the audacity to call our carbine the ELITE????
Yes they are, and though it was not broken KD was not in any way shape or form balanced for any class.
Sitting on the ground for pvp is not an option, sorry.
I don't mind the 30 second timer but the modifications I hear that I like are:
Make it pvp only
Give the Field Commander a reset command that pulls from his/her HAM much like the retreat currently does for burst run (even for PVP)
I could live with it as PvP-only. But that's not what was floated as a "sanity check."
Personally, I find PvE hard enough as it is.
Novamarine; I hunt on Dantooine these days, so let me confirm for you. AOE's against difficult mobs are a nasty double edged sword. Anyone claiming that they can count on hitting every mob in the cone every time they need to is either FoS or fighting butterflies. No need to argue that point any dev playing carbine already knows this. With a 30 sec timer this becomes even more of a problem. The best you can do is slow down an add for a moment- hopefully long enough for someone to get off a warning shot on it. Our crowd control ability went down to almost none with the timer. There is a vast difference between buying one combat round every 30 seconds and controlling a crowd of Seething Bols. (and no I do not hunt this kind of stuff solo unless I want a quick trip back to town).
As far as having combat classes that are not meant for pvp, I call BS on that. Artisans and engineers sure. What would be the point of even having a pvp aspect of the game if there was only one class suitable for it? Carbineers are down right now and apparently there are a bunch of players that want us to stay down. That's an immature attitude though. In the long run the game would become extremely boring if everyone migrated to one of three classes that function well while the other classes languish in development limbo. The devs know that balancing the classes is a critical issue and I read a statement prerelease that they expected to be balancing for the first six months. After beta testing a few games that figure does not surprise me and if they get it reasonably balanced and fun in that amount of time I will be satisfied. In the mean time the posts are telling a fairly accurate story of what's going on in the game world if you look at them in total. Let's hope that we get brought up to speed with the other classes soon. Maybe when all of our broken skills start working things will be less bleak...
Hmmm, carbineers not that bad i picked it up thinking it'd be my primary. It didn't pan out as good as i hoped so i picked up bh and pistoleer to compensate. This worked.
However now i plan on droping bh, 1. becasue there are too many, 2. knockdowns getting fixed (fixed not nerfed!!!)
Now that i have a good gun, dh17 snub ham 17/27/13 100-269 dmg 2.5 sec speed i'm ready to roll. Skattershot rocks, don't be confused by the 1 dmg in the combat spam it does between 200 and 1600 this this gun and does it to 1 2 or 3 pools, that is it does the same dmg the big number possibley 1600 to all three pools best case.
With this gun an about 350 stamina it costs 62 health and action to use, so i can spam it i basicaly atta ck a large red with actionsdhot 1 actionshot 1 actionshot2 coverfire1 coverfire1 kneecapshot then wait for it to move again supresion fire supresion fire, then skatter till it dies, basicaly kites an 10k han red using 500 action abd 300 health, little mind no bid deal
hope this helps, i recomend skatter shot over burst fire strongley, burst fire is just like full auto with 20% reduced ham cost, but has no dizzy/stun potentioal

Our defining ability is 'stun' (whoop) file that under useless. means we die to melees in 4 hits.. not 3.
Yeah, elite carbine !=Elite.
And there are major bugs with Carbineer yet (*cough* Legshot2 costs me 110 action *cough*).

You guys are dumb!
I'm a master carbineer and everytime a BH challenges me to a duel they lose!
4 outta 4 so far.
You guys forget that you have soooo many skill points leftover that you can actually master another combat class that can give you sooo many defenses. I have +35 against KD's and +40 against dizzy. BH = 0, unless they get the +15 in the carbineer tree.
And with my 1.8 speed carbine I shoot just as fast as any BH. So please don't compare until you go all the way to master!
I just thought of something else once knockdown and posture change gets nerf we all win.
1. we have a knockdown in chargeshot
2. We have the highest dmg per sec specials
Think about it one successful knock down should be enought to stack the three bleeds, action1 action1 and action2, then pond them until they recover then either finish them or scoot and watch the bleeds take em out

In reply to Sarne comment that you should be diing in a fight against a yellow con I only have this to say. Make a char on Corbantis and I'll show you how I solo Kimogilas in 5 minutes with my Bounty Hunter. Make a char on Tempest and I'll show you how I get smaked around by every mauler around my house with my carbineer CM.
Yellow means dangerous and requiring strategy nothing more. Only reds indicate overpowering oponents.
Yes some classes can do that, and carbineers are included in that.. but that wasnt what I was saying, I said you're not supposed to be able to. That goes for other classes too.
